Where the characters might be the actors of a play, and the players the directors, the storyline is the ever-important stage!

Without a place and a plot to RP in, we'd just be a bunch of characters running around with nothing at all to do! So much planning, love and creativity go into conjuring up a storyline, it's only appropriate that we give them a bit of a spotlight! The best part about the RP storylines on GC is that with such great roleplayers, we have a huge variety of them!! <3  

This is our place to honor all of our very favorite storylines that were created between August 2016 through June 2018!

Relaxed storylines are where we go when we want to have great adventures with no pressure! Often one of the first stops on a new RPer's roadtrip through our section, but these storylines are enjoyed by both beginners and veterans alike! We have a vast variety of different storylines to choose from, ranging from tearful and emotional to downright hilarious, but you've voted annnnnd

• To Rise Again

• As the Keyblade Strikes

  An unknown Darkness has come and has been slowly consuming worlds across the universe. Along with the impending Darkness come the Heartless, shadowy creatures from an unknown dimension that do the Darkness's bidding. Their goal is to find the Ten Pure of Heart and use their hearts to open the Final Door to Kingdom Hearts, which will enable Darkness to take over all the universe.
      Four of the Ten have already been captured: Princess Setsuna of the Caverns of Charon; Princess Michiru of Triton's Bay; Princess Haruka of Miranda, the Winged Isle; and Princess Hotaru of the Sleeping Wastes.
      As for the remaining Six Pure of Heart, they've been having strange dreams. A voice has been calling them in their dreams, telling them to choose. In a hallowed room, before each dreamer are a Shield, Sword, and Rod. They are left to choose which they will be: a warrior, guardian, or mystic:      “As the weapon of the warrior, the Dream Sword focuses on strength and avoids defense, and if [the Wielder] chooses it, they will learn their offensive abilities at lower levels.”     “As the weapon of the guardian, the Dream Shield focuses on defense and avoids strength, and if [the Wielder] chooses it, they will learn their defensive abilities at lower levels.”     “As the weapon of the mystic, the Dream Rod focuses on MP and avoids AP, and if [the Wielder] chooses it, they will learn their magical abilities at lower levels.”
      The Six each make their choices: – Rei, Makoto, and Minako choose to be Warriors – Ami and Mamoru choose to be Guardians – Usagi chooses to be a Mystic
      The day after their dreams, large dark clouds come over their homeworlds and a terrible storm strikes during the night. The Six awake and find their homes flooded with Heartless. Weaponless, they have no choice but to flee. They each find a portal and the voice they had heard in their dreams urges them to go through.
      We join our heroes as they awaken in a foreign world called Traverse Town.

  I don't actually know anything about Kingdom Hearts (other than it's related to Final Fantasy somehow and there are keys), but the background for this RP was really well thought-out. It's been enoyable to have a game with a variety of players, since this isn't a 1-on-1.

  Light has done an exceptional job DMing this RP. The battles have been so much fun to read and participate in! I've also enjoyed reading the struggles of Team Cosmos while contributing to the parallel Team Chaos story. xD I would also like to give a shout out to the remaining members of Team Cosmos for sticking with the storyline even though two fo their players dropped out! Guys, I love all of the dramatic moments you were able to convey with your characters because of these losses!
  Light has done a fantastic job setting everything up with the multiple settings from each characters worlds and keeping in touch with members of the RP to help set up situations.
  The character interactions are just pure comedy gold at times xD

• Hotline Tokyo
  

  Storyline Summary wrote:

  Home Phone, Tokyo's newest telecommunications company, has made a name for itself with aggressive advertising and competitive rates on internet and phone services. Not satisfied with simply rocking the boat in the telecom industry, Home Phone has just launched a new dating service called "Hotline Tokyo."
      Coincidentally, a week after the first series of ads have run their course, brainwashed citizens wearing animal-themed masks are beginning to cause trouble in the city with seemingly random acts of violence. When questioned by the police, these perpetrators (or victims) all share a common link - each of them received strange, cryptic messages in their answering machines/voicemail, urging them to act on their darkest desires.
      At the heart of this mayhem is an individual who calls himself Schwarzpferd, the first of the masked men and women to appear. What are his ulterior motives? Does he pull the strings, or is he merely the puppet of another?

  SECRET. AGENT MAN! SECRET. AGENT MAN! Nah, but really - I'm loving the entire noir/secret agent thing we've got going on. Kind of gives you the feeling that you're really reading a behind-the-scenes sorta deal.
  
  
  
• Rift

  In this universe, the solar senshi we all know and love don't exist. The world has never heard of the Moon Kingdom and its famous Silver Crystal.
      The reigning kingdom is now located upon a planet called Nemesis. Instead of a Moon Princess, this kingdom is ruled by Princess Esmeraude and her Malefic Black Crystal, a mysterious artifact with powerful magic. She is backed by her own senshi who keep her protected against any outside threats, stopping at nothing to keep enemies at bay.
      When Princess Esmeraude is brought into an arranged marriage with a neighboring Prince Demande, the prince brings along his own entourage.
      The resulting clash of these two peoples is only amplified by underhanded manipulations by the mystifying Death Phantom.
      But perhaps amongst the darkness, a kind of light can be found.

  I may be biased, but I really enjoy Rift because it takes the original inspiration from Phantoms (AU Silver Millennium timeline focusing on the Black Moon Clan), but keeps the focus more narrow on the "they never wound up together in the 90's anime BUT WHAT IF" kind of Koan and Rubeus... now Rubea... to suit the agenda.
  
  
• BSSM: Cardcaptor Chibi Moon

  BSSM: CCCM takes place in the thirtieth century in Crystal Tokyo. Chibiusa and the Sailor Quartet are almost full-fledged senshi, though they still need a little more training. Craving a sense of normalcy, like she had had when she traveled to the past, Chibiusa has secretly enrolled into Juuban High School, and has persuaded Hotaru and the Sailor Quartet to join her. Hotaru agrees, but only to keep the Quartet from putting any (other) wild ideas into Chibiusa's head. The Sailor Quartet quickly and eagerly agree to join her, curious as to what it would be like to be normal teenagers.
      On their first day of school, unbeknownst to the girls, a new enemy appeared! Simply known as the Card Master, he has proven to be unlike any enemy the senshi have faced before. The Card Master has proven himself to be skilled and a remarkable tactician. He first captured the Outer Senshi, the first line of defense to the earth and royal family. He did something no one thought could be done: he extracted and then converted their star seeds into cards, cards purely based on their spheres of power—Senshi Cards.
      This sudden attack was a staggering blow to the protectors of Earth. The Inner Senshi, warning the Princess and her guardians not to wander off again, went next to confront this new threat. Chibiusa and the Quartet, all having important tests that day, went anyway. The Inner Senshi were reported as captured by the enemy. The King and Queen were left to defend themselves. The cats did what they could, but were easily capture by the enemy, along with the King and Queen.
      Chibiusa and the Quartet returned to the Crystal Palace to find it empty. They were devastated. They had underestimated the enemy and now they had to face the fact that, had they been there, things might have turned out differently.
      The Card Master attacked again that night, capturing the Sailor Quartet. Chibi Moon is the last remaining senshi. Now the last hope, Chibi Moon must rescue everyone she's lost to the Card Master. Fortunately, Diana was safely hidden away by Luna and Artemis before the attack and they entrusted her with some new gear that might help Chibi Moon (and the Sailor Quartet, once she rescues them!) succeed in their mission.
      Will Chibi Moon be able to rescue the Quartet? Will they then be able to collect all the Senshi Cards and defeat the Card Master? Stay tuned!

• The Warrior Princess and the Miraculous Enyalian
  

  Storyline Summary wrote:

  While trying to save Sailor Enyalius after she got corrupted, Sailor Andromeda ended up in Planet Enyalius and met a soldier from there by the name of Nikos. He was the lone survivor in the battle that took place at the time of the senshi's arrival, and soon became their reluctant guide. Andromeda's intervention when Enyo - Sailor Enyalius' dark side - threatened Nikos' life "cursed" him to be the last person on the planet who would die, making him virtually invincible to all dangers on the planet. After everything was said and done and Enyo ended up dead while her Sailor Crystal was stolen, Andromeda promised to come back to Enyalius to help Nikos sort out the mess in there, once the group had defeated the Chaos general and retrieved the Enyalius Crystal, returning it to the Cauldron where it belonged. Now that mission was complete, and as promised, after a brief stop on her planet to rest and recuperate, Andromeda decided to return to Enyalius to see Nikos, completely unaware of his crush on her.

Whether the players were intending to make it a rom-com or not is up in the air, but it's clearly become one, and what with awkward rumors surrounding them, miscommunication all over the place, and maybe? could be? ghosts? it'll be a wonder if they ever actually JUST SHUT UP AND KISS ALREADY.

  The year is 2904, the UN created nation of Atlantis houses all Sailor Senshi and their families (Along with military and other civilians) in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, is doing well. Things are great and it's spring time! Time for a new semester at Neo Academy! For a Sailor senshi cadet, this is the time were they also start forming their teams and are guided by Animal advisers. Everything seems good until the arrival of a strange traveling theater group called Dark Theater.
  They specialize in sad-some times macabre plays. Though they have great reviews, it seems awfully weird that people who go in there come out strange and then fall ill with an unknown virus of some kind. Though they've been investigated by the higher ups at the Academy, nothing seems out of place. Maybe it's everyone's imagination? But more incidents are happening and now even sailor soldiers have become victims of this illness as well.
      Something is up! And it's up to the unaffected Sailor Soldiers to figure out what's going on before it's too late!

• The Galactic Adventures of Space Lord Frieza and the Alien Bastet in Space

  Instead of the eternal life Frieza had in mind, his wish of immortality during the events of Whale You Be Mine resulted in a massive toy-line featuring his royal features all across the Universe. This story takes places several months after his trip to Planet Bastet.
      During this time Frieza has actively worked on undoing the wish, by conquering more Planets than ever before, showing the Universe that he is not the hero they believe he is. While his new and only friend, Ari Tansya, isn't pleased by his doings, she is too afraid to do anything against it, fearing to lose her powerful ally and turning his wrath against the Planet she's trying to protect.   I was hyped for the idea the second Kai and Brit announced that it would be the sequel to their Crackship RP "Whale You Be Mine!" I've enjoyed being a part of this storyline because of how crackshippy and "meh, sure let's do it; what happens in space stays in space!" it's been so far. The group's consensus to use generic NPC's and make fun of early '90's dubs is by far the best part of this RP! it makes for some "interesting" character interactions if you know what I mean xD

Casual Events are the best way to dive in to the RP section. They require no profile and they are often guided with small goals to give players an idea of what to post if they need help! I am also 100% biased in saying that they're great fun, too! xD
At this point, we have a wide variety of different types of Casual Events that we cycle between throughout the year, each with their own little way of bringing a new spin to the experience! But you've all voted for your favorites annnnnd

  The HMS Senshi, a renowned exploration ship, has spent many months at sea seeking out the famed Rainbow Crystals - treasures only spoken of in old storybooks.   It's time to stretch out those writing muscles and practice playing a character you've never played before!
      Sometimes it can be easy to pick the same characters over and over again, especially if they're your favorite or you really understand their personality. Getting out of those comfort zones can strengthen your writing in ways you might not even imagine, so it's good to try out something new once in a while.
      This event is a great way to do just that!
      So set aside that one character you pick over all the others and instead start looking for something brand new and shiny!
      It's time to get a character workout!

Stories are always full of emotion, bringing you lots of joy and sorrow in equal turn. Emotions are what drive our characters, spurring them into action or felling them into inaction. But some storylines are capable of bringing you to tears of laughter or tears of sorrow in even just a single sentence. Some storylines are so full of emotion that it can be difficult to read! • Paramnesia

  In her anguish over losing Endymion, Princess Serenity destroyed the world with the power of her Silver Crystal despite her senshi's best attempt at stopping her. Once realizing what she did, Usagi sacrificed herself in order to bring everyone back to life. All of the senshi returned to their old lives, except Usagi. And Minako, who had died prior to the whole thing and got reborn without her old memories. As the other senshi's memories gradually return to them and they mourn Usagi's death, they begin to wonder why they can't find Minako at all.
      Rei finally finds her in the most unlikely place; the dog pound. Minako is working there, looking completely healthy and happy. Rei is so happy to see her alive and well again, especially after losing Usagi, but she soon realizes that Minako does not remember her at all. And so she realizes the reason why Minako looks so happy and unburdened, not at all like the Minako she used to know. Torn between letting the one senshi who deserves a second chance at a normal life get what she wants and reclaiming all the memories they have shared together, Rei must now make the hardest decision in her life.

• Beyond the Sea of Stars
  

  Storyline Summary wrote:

  The pressures of living a life as royalty is simply too much for the newly-crowned Princess Ulysses of Uranus. Chafing under the yoke of etiquette and responsibility, a far cry from her formative life among a rowdy band of interstellar mercenaries, she hijacks a small vessel from the royal fleet and sails off into vast space to escape her life at the palace.
      Her boat malfunctions before she can pass the boundaries of the Solar System, and she finds herself marooned on a nearby planet: Neptune. This place, so different from the clouds of her homeworld of Uranus, amazes her with the vast oceans that she has never before seen. While there, she meets an enchanting young woman, not realizing that girl is in fact Princess Calypso of Neptune.
      The young Princess Calypso shares a similar longing for adventure and escape. The demands of her parents have weighed her down since early childhood, as they seek to educate and train a "perfect" future queen for their planet. She does not initially reveal to this mysterious stranger that she is Neptunian merfolk, able to live in their vast cities beneath the waves or walk on the small islands that cover her world... or that she was the one to save the blonde from an untimely watery grave after the Uranian's crash landing.
      Slowly their friendship blossoms, and perhaps it may become something more...

   x3 nomination combo for the win! Again, not because I'm in it. The battles are tense, the characters are realistically written on both the chaos and cosmos side - you can feel the anger of the chaos group, and the growing desperation of the cosmos side. How the cosmos side has reacted to each growing challenge, as well as losing their teammates is heartbreaking as heck and messes me up a little inside every time I read it. And the tension building to when both groups meet is crazy!

Congratulations! There were some wonderful nominees here, and the winning Storyline is SO MUCH FUN! The promotion from Casual Event to [Relaxed] Storyline was greatly wanted and has provided lots of enjoyment.

Sometimes it isn't the characters or the way its played out that tickles our fancy. Sometimes its just the down and dirty concept itself that really gives us a moment of "YES that is awesome!" The type of concept that really begins to get those creative ideas flowing before you've even finished reading the entire concept.

      From the Juuban District of Tokyo, Japan, a small group of high school girls begin their own journey as vigilantes, who in their own way, fight for love and justice. RPing takes a lot of work and dedication. While it's great fun, you still have to weather the ups and downs just like you do if you were to write an entire story on your own. That's why we have our Hall of Fame to celebrate when RPs reach that fabled "The End"! But there are some storylines we continue to go back and read and re-read even years after they've finished.

  The Princess destroyed the world. Despite all of their efforts, the senshi were not able to stop her, and the world stood no chance against the Princess’s power. However in the aftermath, Usagi took that same power, and molded it into saving the world. She brought the world back and life continues on once more.
      The senshi spend their time after just simply living, and growing closer to one another. To hang out with each other and be normal girls who want to have fun and to simply live.
      Destiny does not allow the senshi repreive for long before another kind of evil begins to make its presence known.   It involved the marvelous writing of Sailors Neptune and Saturn, playing as Rei and Minako from PGSM - an excellent pair with excellent characterization. Also fits the agenda.
  An alternative retelling of a PGSM plotpoint, it certainly captures the drama and the heartache Rei and Minako feel while investigating this interesting new threat - as well as some romantic tension.

Suddenly the boat lunges and everyone is able to see an enormous whale ramming into the boat, before disappearing again. The whale didn't look normal. A strange dark aura surrounded it, and its eyes were red. Another ram into the boat, and it springs a leak. It's up to our heroes to try and save the boat, while dealing with the whale-like monster!
      However, the ship is filling with water, and the people stuck on the boat with them are frightened!

Hardcore RP Events are notorious for their mixing of an overarching plot with D&D elements steeped in sorrow and angst and difficulties for every character involved. These RPs are difficult for the players too, as you've got to keep active in order to keep your character alive, and you've got to pay attention! But there's immense payoff. HC events really let you get into the head of your character, you get drawn deep into the intricacies of the plot, the joy of building character relationships amongst the hardships. HC events are rewarding in a way that is hard to explain until you try one for yourself. Each HC has its own way of embedding itself thoroughly in your mind, but we've found our favorites and...

On the solstice of their 17th year, the children of northern Esoria would gather on Mount Everlast to watch a meteor shower and celebrate the end of their adolescence and the beginning of adulthood.
      However... not every new adult would be heading back home or to a university in the capital. Some, desperate to grant a specific wish, would set out from Mount Everlast to follow the trail of a shooting star. Should they find and recover that star fragment and present it to the King of Esoria, they would not only be considered one of the elite, with no glass ceilings in their future no matter their family or wealth, but would also be granted a Wish by the King himself.
     Seven Star Catchers declared their intent this year. Only five can put a claim on the star fragment. With only one success within the past ten years of trying, will they find the star?

   It was the first Multiverse one and I did not expect it to be as fun as it is, but it's actually nice to break away from the usual setup!
  It was hard to pick a specific sailor soldier-based event; all of the C-series worked so well together! Star Catchers felt particularly enjoyable due to the new universe to explore, the harshness of the Activity Rule, and the budding romances between so many ladies! (Gotta keep the agenda going strong.)
