Advanced Character Profile

Character Name: Delphine Chrysanthi
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: Born in spring, appears 20

Used Canons: Manga world building

Appearance: She stands at 160 cm, with tan skin and warm chocolate brown eyes. Her hair is the color of autumn; brown with streaks of gold in them. She usually leaves them down with a high bun atop her head and typically wears white ribbons on each side of her head. Delphine has a slender, almost skinny build as she doesn't really do a whole lot of physical activities aside from senshi battles. Her typical choice of attire is simple but comfortable clothing, not particularly feminine or masculine but something in between (unisex attire). She prefers bright colors in her clothing and almost never wears black unless the situation calls for it. She also prefers an all natural look and would never be seen with lost of jewelries, make up, or any decorations on her person.

Personality: As the muse of comedy, the dominant trait in Delphine's personality is optimism and her ability to see the silver lining in just about any situation. Even when the circumstances look dire and everything seems terrible, she'll try her hardest to make a joke to lighten up the atmosphere and cheer everyone up. She hates seeing anyone sad and will take it as a personal failure if she could not make them feel better.

This does not mean that she never feels sad or devastated. She still reacts to tragedy the same way anyone does, but she sometimes dwells in the denial stage of grief far too long for anyone's liking. She thinks if she pretends everything is alright, then ultimately it will be, and she can skip all the anger and devastation and bargaining and just go straight to acceptance because by then time would have healed the wounds anyway. It isn't the healthiest outlook in life, but that's just the way she is built. She is not built for anguish and misery. She will keep her chin up in the worst situations even if it kills her.

Her optimism sometimes also leads to recklessness and illogical plans. Because she believes she cannot fail 90 percent of the time, she will come up with the most outlandish solutions for problems and sincerely believes it will work, even if it is dangerous and full of risks. Without a team of senshi that can slap some sense into her, or at the very least Melpomene, Thalia would not have survived this long in battle, as she isn't really the most strategic or logical person when it comes to strategy.

Delphine also enjoys forming relationships and bonds with people, because she believes relationships are what makes every single living being in the world happy. She cannot stand the thought of being alone and will happily attach to anyone who would welcome her. As a senshi, she does not particularly enjoy being a hero, given how much loss and destruction is involved in any war, but it is a calling she cannot deny, and so her duty is forever a burden to her. However, she deals with it the way she deals with every other difficult thing in her life, by seeking connections with her allies and seeing the bright side of their terrible circumstances.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills:

  • She is a naturally talented comedian and has the gift of laughter, usually able to make even the hardest of hearts crack a smile when they're around her.
  • She also possesses a green thumb and can make any flower or plant flourish under her care even if it seems like it's on its last dying breath.
  • She is excellent at impressions and can accurately mimic anyone else's voice that she has heard at least once.

History: Delphine was born as one of the three soldiers guarding planet Alcestis. The planet has two moons, Thalia and Melpomene, and Delphine hails from the former while her future senshi counterpart was born from the latter. Alcestis was a thriving planet, advanced in technology and full of life. While Melpomene remained a subdued place steeped in tradition and free of the latest inventions, Thalia was almost like the entertainment district of the planet. Every possible form of entertainment from ancient theater to the most advanced live streaming technology was available there. The people of Thalia valued performances and the joy that could be found in them. The moon looked like a city that never slept, where around every corner screens blaring commercials or the latest concert feed from the hottest new artist remained on at all hours of the day.

Delphine was born into a long line of soldiers destined to protect the warrior of the planet. She had been prepared for the job since she was little, but training in Thalia involved more tactics to keep up the morale and keep her future charge happy than actual fighting. To be quite honest, fighting wasn’t especially the specialty of the people of Thalia, nor did they particularly enjoy it. The moon had long been criticized for their inability to properly prepare their soldiers for the reality of battle, and so that was why she was eventually sent to Alcestis to train together with the senshi from Melpomene, to build on their teamwork as well.

When the real training in Alcestis began, it felt like a shock to Delphine’s entire way of life. The difference of culture between Thalia and Alcestis and Melpomene was immense, and to learn that the Adrasteia, the senshi from Melpomene, was like a literal opposite of herself had been devastating too. She had hoped for a partner in crime, someone who would be able to enjoy life with her, someone to laugh and have fun with, and instead… all she found was doom and gloom. She had to admit it; she was disappointed at first.

Until she realized that they were meant to balance each other. She was supposed to make Adra see the brighter things in life, and Adra was supposed to bring her back down to earth when she went overboard with her optimism or crazy schemes that she believed would absolutely not fail. Over time, although Delphine still sometimes teased or chided Adra for her way of seeing the danger and risk in everything—or, in her words, being the party pooper—she had come to love her partner as a constant in her life, as the other side of the same coin.

And then they met their princess, the one they were supposed to protect, Princess Nephele of Alcestis, the future Sailor Alcestis. Before the princess transformed on her 13th birthday, Delphine and Adra took on the role as her protectors, Sailor Thalia and Sailor Melpomene, guarding her from political enemies to invaders from outer space wanting to ruin the peace on the planet. Once again, Thalia was disappointed that she was never truly allowed to befriend the princess, whom she had been hoping to form a close bond with. But at least she had Melpomene, and that was a relief.

Together, they took care of threats from assassins to more mysterious enemies from outer space, working as a well-trained unit. Eventually Nephele took the mantle of Sailor Alcestis herself and the three of them protected the planet together. As a fellow soldier, Thalia was able to form a closer relationship with her, and the three of them became inseparable. And everything in Alcestis was prosperous and at peace.

Until Chaos came.

The threat was unlike anything they had ever seen or faced before. In the face of such power, the three of them were unable to fight back. Destruction began and ended almost in a blink of an eye. There were so many deaths. So much devastation. They sent a distress call to nearby planets and senshi as a last ditch effort, although they knew it was too late. Sailor Alcestis used all of the power she had left to try to eradicate the Chaos agent, but it was not enough, and Thalia and Melpomene failed to protect her from a fatal blow.

Thalia had never had such trouble seeing the good out of something in her life. When everything in her life was suddenly turned to despair, she almost broke herself in her attempt to deny the devastation. Just when she thought she was going to die along with everyone else on the planet, just when she was about to accept that defeat was inevitable, a bright light streaked across the sky and landed in the middle of the battlefield. A light of hope.

It was a miracle. It was a senshi. The energy she emanated was so powerful and beautiful it almost moved Thalia to tears. With her, she brought renewed hope, and Thalia watched in amazement as she killed the Chaos agent almost effortlessly. In that moment, she was awed and intrigued. Who was this beautiful, powerful, surely legendary senshi who was so strong and so bright?

She learned later that the senshi was Sailor Cosmos, a senshi who had been battling Chaos since time immemorial. A senshi whose battle was still ongoing. Thalia learned that what had attacked them was only one of many, and that all across the galaxy more agents of Chaos were wreaking havoc everywhere. Planet Alcestis was mostly destroyed now. Sailor Alcestis was dead. Thalia and Melpomene had no more reason for existing, seeing that they had failed completely in their duty. Thalia naturally latched on to Cosmos, the new hope in the face of the tragedy that had befallen their planet, and saw her as a chance of redemption. She knew that if left there, Melpomene will likely destroy herself in guilt eventually, and she could only bury her own sorrow so deep.

No. They needed a new duty. And that new duty was to help Cosmos in her fight to protect all of the universe, not just one planet. It was a step up from their old duty, Thalia convinced herself. This must be her true calling. Everything happened for a reason. Her planet might have been lost, but maybe her true destiny was not to win this battle, but to win the war by Cosmos’ side. And so they asked to join Cosmos, and with guilt and regret left the planet they were once assigned to protect, hoping they would not fail a second time in an even more spectacular way.

Surely, they wouldn’t.

Relationships:

  • Sailor Cosmos - Cosmos was the light of hope for all her team and for Thalia and Melpomene in their darkest hour. When everything was lost, Cosmos was the only bright spot left in their world. The only silver lining Thalia could latch onto. And so Cosmos has represented that last hope since. She believes that as long as they still have Cosmos, no matter how bleak the situation is, they will find a way to prevail. After all, even Polyhymnia said so.

  • Sailor Calliope - Calliope talks in a funny way that amuses Thalia. She also likes to ramble, which makes her a nice conversation partner. Thalia likes Calliope the way someone might adore their quirky big sister.

  • Sailor Clio - Clio always intimidated Thalia, and the way she was always reading prompted Thalia to often try to get her out of her own little bubble and join the others in merriment. She liked the way Clio looked flustered anytime she mentioned singing, dancing, or anything silly, but considered it a personal achievement if she could make Clio smile. After Clio was gone, Thalia tries to fill in the hole she left behind by reading her journal and notes any time she has a chance, which makes her feel closer to Clio again, as if she's still there.

  • Sailor Euterpe - Euterpe is like Thalia's twin and her partner-in-crime. Euterpe is similar to herself in many ways, and this delights Thalia to no end. What's better than having someone who is exactly like you? She enjoys doing things the others won't approve like pranks and putting on impromptu shows and laughing at nothing in particular with Euterpe. She feels like no one understands her better than Meela.

  • Sailor Erato - Erato is fun in a way that is so different than the others. She's interested in things no one else is interested in, like shoes and clothes and hair. She's also super confident and can persuade anyone to do anything, which helps a lot in making pranks happen. Thalia also loves getting advice about appearance from Erato, because she's like having a supermodel for a best friend.

  • Sailor Melpomene - Melpomene is Thalia's partner that she has known the longest among all the others, and so they share a special bond. Melpomene is the sadness to Thalia's joy, the darkness to her light. They balance each other and recognizes the necessity of having each other in their lives. Although Melpomene in many ways is her opposite, Thalia also knows she is a very important person to have to keep her boundless optimism in check and also a shoulder to lean on. While on the outside they may argue a lot about their vastly different ways of viewing life, Melpomene has shared Thalia's greatest loss, and for that experience, their bond will remain unbreakable.

  • Sailor Polyhymnia - Polyhymnia was a gentle soul with so much light, and Thalia admired her. She liked her because Polyhymnia's belief also never wavered; she was the one Thalia went to in order to reaffirm her own belief that everything was going to be alright. Polyhymnia's light was important to them all, and Thalia loved her, and losing her was a huge blow to her and everyone else.

  • Sailor Terpsichore - Sweet Terpsichore was the one Thalia liked to entertain best. She laughed so easily, so freely, unburdened by anything, unlike the others who have had to experience loss or tragedy at some point in their lives already. Terpsichore, however, was pure and untainted by grief, and her dancing was so beautiful, and days with her were always colorful. Terpsichore was the little sister Thalia never had, and losing her felt like yet another brilliant light had been extinguished.

  • Sailor Urania - Urania is so... straightforward and easy to understand. That was, perhaps, what attracted Thalia to her. She is so no-nonsense and doesn't care about whether things will surely be okay or if everything will fall apart. Everything is just as it is. She can come across as lacking emotions, but Thalia has personally found out that it isn't true. Behind the facade of the girl who only cares about facts and figures, there's someone who wants to feel more, and Thalia is only too happy to give her that.

Other Noteworthy Facts:

  • Despite enjoying music as much as anyone else, and adoring her many teammates' skills in the musical department, Thalia is the least skilled of them all when it comes to music. She can't carry a tune to save her life and cannot play any instrument. That does not, however, stop her from trying to join in loudly whenever the others start performing or singing, to the chagrin of the others.
  • Aside from making jokes and telling funny stories, she loves putting actual comedy-themed performances and would often try to rope the others into her 'production' to entertain people while visiting other planets. After all, in the midst of devastation, everyone needs a reason to smile.

Storyline Specific Information:
The Lunar Chronicles Phase VI: It is now thousands of years into the future since the Crystal Tokyo era. Senshi have come and gone and the battle between the side of Cosmos and Chaos have finally reached its peak. A new senshi, Sailor Cosmos, whose power rivals that of the legendary senshi Sailor Moon, has emerged as the ultimate champion of the light side. Just like Sailor Moon had been, she is supported by nine senshi in her team in her war against Chaos.

However, this battle is harder than all of Sailor Moon's old battles combined. And the stakes are much higher. The world's balance is at risk, depending on which side ultimately wins. Is there even a true winner after all, or will everything be lost and wiped clean for the world to restart? As long as the Galaxy Cauldron exists, even if one side prevails for now, the other will soon be reborn and the whole thing starts all over again...

Sailor Cosmos is tired. She has experienced many losses, some from her own senshi team. Some among the people she dearly loves. She just wants it to end. Will she take a risky move to bring an end to the suffering?

Chaos has manifested itself and took the ultimate form of Sailor Chaos, a senshi of destruction with incredible power. It's going to be a fight of the strongest soldiers of light and darkness in this ultimate showdown.

This event will explore what happens leading up to Cosmos' decision to travel back in time to Usagi's era and try to destroy The Galaxy Cauldron.

RP Sample:

Thalia thought losing her princess was the hardest thing she had had to contend with. But that was before Clio, before Polyhymnia, before… Terpsichore. With each senshi that died, it was getting harder and harder to stay positive, to keep up her boundless optimism. After all, what could possibly be funny about death?

Not for the first time, she looked towards Cosmos, the person she had always considered her last hope. If she should fall too… what was Thalia going to do?

She shook out the momentary stupor, chiding herself for behaving like Melpomene. Why would she even consider that possibility? Cosmos was all-powerful. She was… invincible. Yes. She was going to win this war, absolutely. She was the brightest light in the galaxy. Thalia conjured in her mind the feeling that she felt when all hope had been lost and Cosmos had arrived, bringing with her a new light. A light so bright, it made Thalia feel like nothing was impossible. It made her feel like everything was going to be alright.

Polyhymnia was right. Just because she wasn’t here anymore didn’t mean she was wrong. Cosmos was going to prevail over Chaos. They all would be fine.

She spied the sadness and burden in Cosmos’ eyes, and realized that it was her duty to cleanse those, to prop her up so she could stand at her strongest again. That was why she had been called to join Cosmos. To give her the strength she needed to win. To unleash that boundless power within her that Thalia knew she had. She was going to win—they were going to win—if everyone just played their part.

And so she walked over to the soldier in white with a funny remark already forming in her head, determined to make her smile and shine again.
