(RP) Alternate Dimension: Within the Cauldron

Eternal Sailor Mercury was taken aback by the small child's response, a salutation by name and a hug. Whoever this child was, she not only knew Chibi-Usa, but also knew Sailor Mercury's civilian name. The little girl also added the phrase "Auntie," which implied a familiarity deeper than a mere association. She could either be from the future or a different dimension, perhaps like the Minako she had met earlier.

Rather awkwardly, Eternal Sailor Mercury patted the child on the head and tried to have the hug loosened. "Don't be scared. Nothing will harm you." The child continued to talk excitedly, which confirmed Eternal Sailor Mecury's suspicions. Yes, this child was indeed from Crystal Tokyo and apparently a sister of Chibi-Usa. Wouldn't Usagi be pleased to learn she would have two daughters in the future?

And then, a new person appeared rather suddenly. The new person, Sailor Mau, stated her connection to the Guardian Cosmos. "That would be wonderful," Eternal Sailor Mercury said.

Mau smiled warmly at the blue colored Soldier and grinned playfully at the child. She lowered herself so that she'd be eyelevel with the girl.

"We're going to have a tea party! Does that sound fun?" She enjoyed it sometimes when children would show up in the Cauldrons, though they were lucky enough if they could keep a resemblence to their physical form. The arrival of a child was always bitter sweet. The scared reaction to the cauldron, but also being able to tell them that they were safe. At least safe from whatever happened to them.

She glanced at the girl with the oddly shaped buns on her head. She noticed the crescent moon mark on her forehead. She had remembered reading about that symbol once a long time ago.

"What is your name little moon child?"

Namiko continued to hold onto Mercury for protection, watching warily as Mau grinned at her and lowered down to be eye level with her. Her eyes widened slightly as she heard the words “tea party” and she almost seemed to be drooling as her arms relaxed from Mercury's waist a little. “You mean a tea party with tea and cookies and cake and pudding and eclairs? And ice cream?” she asked, seeming to be getting more and more excited about the prospect.

She had finally let go of Mercury and gave a little jump of excitement as she thought of all the sweets she could enjoy, when suddenly she heard Mau ask what her name was. She blushed a little in childish shyness as she folded her hands behind her back and smiled nervously, rocking a little on her feet as she replied,” My name is Namiko Tsukino....Mama says I’m a princess and that I should be Princess Namiko, but I don't really like being called that...I like just Namiko.”

Mau smiled at Namiko.

"Well Namiko, we have all sorts of treats. The Guardian of the Cosmos has been planning this party for you guys all day. Thankfully we've found you two."

Sailor Mau stood up and looked towards the other soldier. "I think we are ready to go, so please follow me." Mau began walking towards where she had left the Guardian at the entrance of the Cauldron. She paused and turned, "By the way, I didn't catch your name, Soldier. What is it and which system do you hail from?"

Shadows coalesced in the galactic cauldron's castle, at the bottom of the stairway. What emerged from them was not the usual visitor the cauldron. It was a hunched creature, a kind of which the denizens of the Cauldron hadn't seen yet. It's head was of a hyena's and coarse brown fur covered it's body, except for it's hands, which were naked and ash gray, sporting scorch marks.

It wore a chain shirt, a lizardskin cloak, a pair of steel shoulderguards, and segmented leg protectors. Next to it laid a serrated spear, and a small mace was strapped to it's belt.

It was a gnoll. It was a male gnoll, and a warrior to boot.

...and he was in a sour mood.

But first, he shook the snow out of his belongings, and gladly noted that his pack was still with him. It contained supplies and food to see him through a couple of days at least, enough to return to the cave he claimed, or to find game to replenish himself. He wasn't worried of snowstorms, as he had a whole summer before the clouds from the Sea of Storms would roll over the Glittering Spires, and place their white burden gently upon the peaks. And he also trusted his skill to find what he came for before the elements would trap him inside the valley he was in.

But that gave the question: Where was he?

And thus, Kathros Ashenclaw grabbed his spear and shouldered his pack, and took his first step in exploring the realm beyond the ruined gate.

There was light on the top of the long staircase, so expecting to find company, the gnoll set out that way, after assuring that nothing would approach him from the surrounding hallways. The experience was unlike anything he ever had the luck to live through. From the glass windows, he saw a dazzling forest of towers, arches and spires far below, yet the light did not came from those.

The world beyond the portal felt entirely alien to him. He saw the stars, which gave him guidance since his first days as a trapper, in a dazzlingly different array. He recognized none of them, it was all a chaotic mass of lights in the sky.

"The sooner I find the accursed blade and leave the better." he thought, but then... he saw no gateways when he looked around. He froze suddenly, "What if there is no way back? Wasn't there supposed to be a waygate on this side?"

There was only one way to find out.

At the end of his ascent, the mystery behind the ancient gateway the accursed Sailor Pluto died defending would be revealed.

As well as the whereabouts of one of the artifacts needed to destroy it.

For a moment, the Guardian Cosmos was glad, smiling radiantly before her charming tea table, nearly as small as the decorative kettle herself. It wasn't often she had visitors... but then, as the people faded one by one, dissolving into their star seeds which then faded back to their own dimension, her smile faded into a look of pensive calm, the slow whirring of light behind her providing a colorful backdrop to the lonely atmosphere surrounding her. Sailor Mau, too, had disappeared, returning to the cauldron to remain in stasis until consciousness overcame her once more. Guardian Cosmos took her staff and raised it, the friendly furniture she and her companion had assembled raising and shimmering as they, too, began to disappear... until a jolt shot through the Guardian and the table fell with a clamor -- who was there?!

Taking a breath she calmed herself enough to banish the table back into the Cauldron, her violet eyes staring apprehensively at the doorway that led out into the antechamber; something was not right. The seed that had entered Sagittarius Zero Star and Cosmos Palace was not known to her and had no familiar feel to it - it was neither Senshi nor Chaos agent, and that worried her. Only those with sailor crystals (dormant or no) or chaos stones could enter this world; who, then, was this?

Holding her staff solidly, she waited for whatever might come, already resigned to the knowledge that, should they make it this far, she would help them in whatever way they needed, whether their purpose was for good... or for evil.

Namiko had only blinked once, to realize Mercury was no longer there. Nor was the strange senshi, Sailor Mau. Where had they gone? After a moment, she began to feel the panic rising up again. If Mercury wasn't there to protect her, would monsters get her? What about the tea party she had heard about? The tears began welling up in her eyes before she let out a wail and began to run blindly. It probably wasn't the smartest move, but it was probably better than her usual way of just freezing up and wailing loudly until someone helped her.

A jolt ran through her body and Mau gasped, suddenly awake. She groaned, standing where she had been, putting a hand to her head. She felt a bit groggy. What happened? They were all here and suddenly she had blacked out. Mau looked around, the child and the Soldier were both gone. Sighing, Mau picked up her strength, trying to fly, but somehow she felt drained. Which was odd, she shouldn't really have to worry about energy.

Mau headed where they were supposed to meet for the tea party with the Guardian. She had no idea how long she was out, but she hoped everything was ok.

Two lights had returned. The Guardian relaxed, sensing Sailor Mau's presence and feeling better for it. Maybe things weren't as dire as they seemed. She glanced around the enormous chamber, eyebrows raised, looking for any sight of her; finding none (she had left to find their guests) she made a grand sweeping gesture with her staff and the tea table returned, set for eight, complete with doilies and a warming kettle and waiting teapot. She wondered then how this might play out.

Just before he could reach the end of the flight of stairs, a scream halted him. His keen ears helped nothing in the echoing cacophony, so doing his best, Kathros pushed his back to the wall, and looked around desperately, trying to pinpoint the source.

With no salvation at hand, his hand slowly reached into one of his hidden pouches, and retrieved a yellow tooth.

It was a tooth of an ice drake. It held great power, that it's wielder could utilize to do wondrous things..

...But, there was a price.

Namiko continued running, since it seemed easier than stopping and not doing anything. Probably if her auntie Ami were around, she might talk about Newton laws of physics. But that was far beyond little Namiko's ken, and so it didn't pass her mind. Not that it would really matter of course.

She continued running until she felt about to faint from breathlessness. She stopped where she was and stood panting heavily. She looked around helplessly and felt the tears rising in her eyes again. She closed them tightly to prevent herself from crying, before she let out a shrill scream, hands clenched in fists close to her body. As she screamed, she went through a phenomena her elder sister had experienced, as the crescent on her forehead lit up and shined brightly as she released a wave of energy. How could she not react, with all the fear and frustration, helplessness and confusion roiling around inside her tiny body?

Mau have finally gathered the strength to fly when a huge wave of energy knocked her out of the sky.

"What the-!?" She picked herself up and looked back at the direction from where the energy had come from. She closed her eyes trying to pinpoint it. It was that child! She must be in danger to be releasing that kind of energy. She must have some sort of defense mechanism of untapped power. Mau decided the Guardian could wait for a moment and quickly ran off in the direction of the child, hoping to find her.

Namiko sniffled as the energy wave faded away, her crescent going back to normal. She clutched her hands close to her chest as she flopped on the ground tiredly, her pigtails flowing all around her. The scream and energy burst had drained her energy, and now she felt a little too tired to be so scared and panicked.

She let out a slow, deep sigh, feeling at least a little better now. She wobbled slightly where she sat, rubbing at her tear stained face. She needed somewhere to sleep now, despite how much she wouldn't mind laying down right where she was and use her hair for a pillow. It vaguely reminded her of a fairy tale she had heard, something about a girl locked in a tower with hair far longer than hers. Though her mother had often teased her that she could use her long hair for climbing things. Namiko looked at her blue hair and smiled vaguely at the comforting and cheering memory. After a few moments of gathering her strength, she stood up and began to trudge along, yawning as she rubbed her eye. Suddenly she saw something partially hidden from the trees out the corner of her eye. She turned it and was startled, but a little pleased to see a castle.

“Castle means home...and home means beds.” she mumbled, smiling as she wandered over to the castle and inside of it.

Kathros still couldn't get his head around the wailing. Had he been not stringent in his search? No matter what, there was something, somewhere, that was in trouble. It could be ahead or...

An energy wave made him stumble forward.

...behind. Whatever caused the screams, could be dangerous. More so if it caused an energy wave that he felt while being nowhere in sight.

He turned back, despite all of his hair standing up at the thought of facing this new threat, and made up his mind about the dragon tooth. He would use it, and pay the price of power.

So he drew his knife, and made a small cut on his forearm, wincing. Then, with a shaky hand, he placed the tip of the tooth into the wound. The effect was immediate. The tooth drank deeply from the tooth, and began to glow with a foreboding red light, and not a single droplet of blood managed to escape from the wound.

He held it for a few seconds, yet he felt it taking an eternity until he, painfully slowly, pulled it away. The cut now glowed in an orange light, and glowing lines began to spread across his arm, forming sigils and runes of an ancient language only the dragons understood. It spread from his arms to his body, forming the only symbol he recognized on his forehead: a glowing eye.

In a moment, his vision adjusted: The usual colors seemed to darken to mere outlines, but from beyond the bottom of the stairs, he felt as if he saw a light of a fire in a night. Knowing the nature of the enchantment he wished for was true sight, it made him start descending the flight of stairs very carefully.

For whatever emanated the an aura had to be very powerful.

Namiko wasn't startled by how easily the doors of the castle opened. After all, the doors in the Crystal Palace opened wonderfully easily, so why wouldn't she assume all doors were so? She looked far to the left and right before quietly walking in. Some of her tiredness was wearing off, though she still wanted a really nice comfy bed to lay down in for a while. Though the remembrance of a mention of a tea party still tugged at her mind. She loved the sweet treats that always came with tea time and her mouth slightly watered now. What she wouldn't give for cookies, cake, tarts, doughnuts, delightful little petite fours. She shook her head. She would have to stop, or she'd drool a lake. She didn't imagine she would like swimming in drool.

Her hair trailed along on the ground behind her as she walked along, relaxing in the quiet of the castle. It felt peaceful, like the Crystal Palace. After a few moments, she shyly called out, “Hello?”. Unaware of the large burly man who was seeking her out, she would be a sight to greet him. A child of surely no more than 8 or 9, with eyes like the sea and bright blue hair done in crescent shaped buns with pigtails that flowed all the way down from the buns to trail about a full foot at least on the ground, and a golden crescent moon on her forehead.

Kathros continued slowly, until a large gate came into view. It was glowing too, the emanation had to be close now. The next moment he saw it move, and he ducked behind a pillar to avoid the arrival's gaze.

Whatever it was, it was magical, and the screams stopped. Whatever it was, must have finished the girl already, and must be looking for more cattle to prey upon.

For a few moments, he steadied himself, fighting the urge to charge it, whatever it was. he breathed deeply, content to release his anger later, after the threat had been dealt with. Then, composed, he left the cover to face it, feeling prepared to face whatever it was, and to avenge the child.

What he wasn't prepared for, was it to be a dwarven girl. A girl gifted with magical power, but still a young girl.

True Sight was as much a gift as a curse, he noted.

She hadn't heard any answering calls, but she would of sworn that she had heard footsteps. She looked around nervously, raising a hand up close to her face. It was hard to mistake the sound after so many years in the palace. “H-hello?” she called, more nervously. The hairs on the back of her neck were beginning to prickle, and she could once again feel the panic rising up inside her, her fight or more likely flight response ticking closer to activation. She heard more steps and turned quickly toward the sound, only to be struck dumb.

It was a man, at least, it seemed mostly like a man, all battle worn. She would have been just merely nervous and a little scared, if it hadn't been for the head. He had the head of some kind of dog like creature, that much she could figure out. She had never seen a hyena in her life, even in books, so she couldn't know what's what form his head had taken. She stood there a few moments, shaking quietly as she stared wide eyed at the man.

Then she let out a piercing scream of utter horror, and ran for her life.

Hearing her scream was both a relief and a shock to him. Relief, because it meant that it wasn't a monster that wielded the great power, and a shock trying to imagine what she was running from before.
Given her reaction to him, it could be anything. Of course he wasn't an epitome of beauty in the dwarf society, but to scare such a powerful person... even though dwarves weren't usually gifted with magic.
Overcoming his shock, he called out to her in a hoarse voice: "Wait!"

Namiko continued to run as fast as she could, letting out another scream of, “Monstteeer!!!Help meeeeee!!!!!”. She could vaguely hear something that sounded like the word 'wait', but in her current panic her hearing wasn't that great. She wished she knew this palace, so she could go somewhere safe from the monster! Such knowledge would have come in handy as she turned a corner and ran smack into a pillar, one of many lining a hallway. Her yells of fear were cut short as her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she promptly fell on her back, out cold.

No matter what, she continued her screaming for help, until she bumped into something behind the corner... hard. Kathros cringed, then rushed over to her side. If there was a monster on the loose, she'd need all the help he can get, but he too had no idea where to take her.

Her forehead was a bit red from the impact, but otherwise, she breathed normally. He crouched down to scoop her up...

Sailor Mau had reached the crystal palace, hearing the screams of the child. She pushed harder, a growing concern that something had attacked her...something that doesn't belong. She burst through the palace doors, not soon after, the screams had stop. Frantic, Mau searched the corridors.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a large dark figure and the strange moon child laying on the floor. Her eyes widened as she gazed at the creature. She'd never seen anything like it before. A strange wild dog like head on a humanoid body. Whatever it was, must have been the thing that attacked the little girl. Mau fluttered her wings and sped off as fast as she could towards the thing, hoping the element of surprise would aid her.

She shouted, pulling her hand back gathering the strength of her attack, "Cat Scratch Fever!". Yelling, she forced her hand forward against the strength of her magic. A swirling ball of energy flew towards the monster. She didn't want to kill it, but hopefully it would knock the creature out.

The shout came a split second before the blast hit him, giving him a glimpse of the attacker before he was violently thrown off his feet, away from his spear. He rolled with the impact, the attack didn't daze him as much as he expected it to. His side still felt like it was on fire. Maybe it was.

It was another dwarf girl, maybe a northlander, he couldn't tell at the moment. Could she be what the now unconscious girl was running from? She too had the aura of power, and this blast demonstrated that she could use it.

Another glance revealed that she was as far from the decent dwarves as possible. No dwarf wore a skirt so short! But what could she be? The sailors of the realm were supposed to be dead, after the Dark Kingdom annihilated the Moon Kingdom a thousand years ago. But despite that, everything matched. Short skirt, bow, and ornate decorations and even the bloodlust matched the descriptions from his race's history.

She could be a sailor after all, and she had to be after the girl, who was his only clue right now about this forsaken realm! He couldn't let her take the girl.

Kathros slowly rose to his feet, mace in hand. The runes from the enchantment flared white hot, giving even his eyes an eerie red glow. Every moment, he fought the urge to charge her, only letting a menacing growl out. "Back off, fiend. By my ancestors and Icelord Ithral, you shall take neither the girl, nor me."
