DOUBLE MOON BDAY ABDUTION June 30, 2012
Rei’s PoV
That was it! 11:50, finally, after weeks of preparation, their little plan was going to be set into motion. It was exhausting, but heck, it was worth every last second they’d put into it. Their princesses deserved this and so much more. Everyone had worked very hard.
Mako-chan was in charge of the food and baked the cakes, that’s right cakes, plural! She baked two cakes wanting each of the moon rabbits to feel special by each having their own cake. Isn’t she a sweetheart<3
It was a very nice reason, although the real reason she baked two cakes was because she knew her princesses so well. She knew they would gobble it up in no time as if it were a small cupcake, just leaving crumbs (if nothing at all) for the rest of the gang. 11:52
Ruka-chan, Michi-chan, Sets-chan and Hotaru-chan where borrowing their home as well as helping us with the preparations in the home for our not so little secret.
Minako-chan is in charge of the music. Ami-chan is helping her out knowing how much of a klutz she can be. (She’ll probably blow up the entire tech if Ami-chan weren’t there). 11:54
Ami-chan came up with the whole thing; she is the genius after all! We were both in charge of shopping for everything necessary; from cake mix to balloons, coke… everything.
And I was in charge of asking Tsukino-san permission for abducting the two rabbits in the middle of the night. Tee hee! Those two won’t know what hit them. 11:57
Now here we are in Usagi’s room. Mako-chan, Ruka-chan, Hotaru-chan and I, all geared up. The others are at the Outers, while we’re all dressed in black and have masks covering our faces; Ruka-chan brought some duct tape, rope and stuff to blind fold and gag them. She and Hotaru-chan are apparently huge pranksters according to Michi-chan and Sets-chan. Who would’ve thought?
We are all set and ready while they are fast asleep, even after Ruka-chan tripped on Usagi’s table and fell flat on her face. I swear those two could sleep through an earthquake!! 11:58
I don’t know what’s best is that Hotaru-chan has a video camera and is gonna record the whole kidnapping or the fact that Usagi’s parents and brother are waiting by the door to see the entire thing happening.
Best. Family. Ever!
12:00 a.m. Saturday June 30
OPERATION DOUBLE MOON BDAY ABDUTION HAS BEEN SET IN MOTION!
Normal PoV
They launched at Chibiusa first for being the youngest and smallest of the Moon duo thinking it would be easier starting with her but how wrong they were. Her eyes went wide as saucers the moment she saw the masked figures grabbing her.
“USAG-UMPH!“ was the only thing she could yell out before Rei taped her mouth shut but it was enough to wake the moon princess, but Makoto was by her side in no time at all holding her down while Haruka and Rei struggled with tying Chibiusa.
Hotaru puts down her camera on a table pointed at them and aids her Papa and Rei tie her best friend while Haruka was holding her arms and Rei struggled keeping her from kicking them. Chibiusa put up more of a fight than they thought she would.
Makoto wasn’t having much luck either. She was having a hard time keeping Usagi quiet and still.
“No-nooo, let me go!!” she franticly yell while fighting to get off of Makoto’s grip on her.
Hotaru turned to Usagi after she finished with Chibiusa and calmly walked to her and with a frightening voice nothing like her own and said “Shut up and stand still or we’ll hurt your friend”.
Usagi did as she was told afraid for what they could do to Chibiusa. Rei wasted no time and grabbed the duct tape and sealed her best friends’ lips while trying not to bust a gut laughing at Hotaru’s antics. Makoto and Haruka barely held it in and with a snort.
Haruka grabbed the rope to tie Usagi and Hotaru started blindfolding Chibiusa. Once they were both tied, blindfolded and gaged they headed down stairs and got out of the house thru the window to make it look like they broke in. They hurried to the car and pushed the two girls in and rode to their destination.
.::In the car::.
‘Omg, omg, OMG! What’s going on? Chibiusa! Is she alright?’ These were the thoughts on the blondes head, terrified for their lives. She didn’t know who these people were or what they wanted with them. They were currently riding in a car to an unknown destination. She was in the center of back seat with Chibiusa on her left and one of the thugs at her right.
This silence was overwhelming. Not one word was coming out of their mouth and it was making more and more uneasy. ‘I can’t believe mamma and papa didn’t notice anything, and I don’t have my brooch or communicator with me either. (Sigh) This doesn’t look good.’ The blonde wouldn’t stop thinking and unconsciously wiggling where she sat successfully getting on Rei’s nerves and earning a hurtful pinch on her arm.
Next thing she knows the car stops and the kidnapers start get ting off the car and pulling her and Chibiusa out and thru a door. She couldfeel one of her kidnappers behind her pulling on her ropes but still holding on to her to make sure she doesn’t make any sudden movements. After her ropes were undone they started working on her gag with a very peculiar delicacy, almost as she was fragile and didn’t want to hurt her with the duct tape.
The moment the tape freed her lips she called out to Chibiusa. “Chibiusa?! Where is she?” “Usagi? Where are you?!” Answered the girl moving towards her and Usagi couldn’t help but notice how frightened her voice sounded. “I’m right here, don’t worry it’s gonna b-”
“Take your blind folds off NOW” Interrupted the same person with the creepy voice that threatened to hurt her future daughter and they did as they were told terrified of what they could do to them.
They slowly took off their blind folds at the same time and the instance they opened their eyes a bright light blinded them and a huge POP ringed on their ears along with a loud “SURPRISE!!!!” that stunned them with disbelieve.
“W-wha-what?” Stuttered Chibiusa not sure what was going on and watched along with Usagi as all their friend were gathered at Hotaru’s house laughing extremely hard at the look on her and Usagi’s faces. They truly gave ‘Deer caught in the headlight’ a new meaning.
“G-guys? What’s going on? I don’t understand where are those bad guys that took us? Did they bring us here?” Asked Usagi, pouring all her confusion into her voice.
“We are throwing you girls a party” answered Michiru
“In the middle of the night?” questioned the pink haired princess.
“Yup, It’s a sleepover all-nighter party just for the two of you” said the youngest of the Senshi.
“B-b-but what about the kidnapping, tying and blind folding…That was you guys?!?!”
“Well duhh! Of course it was us you baka. Who else?” answered Rei to the baffled blonde.
“Why the heck did you have to do that? And why on earth did you PINCH ME?!!?” said Usagi as she stalked towards her best friend starting one of their famous bickerings.
“What! It was Ami-chan’s idea in the first place, and it’s your fault I pinched you cuz you wouldn’t stop moving!! Argued back the fiery pyro.
“Ami-chan?!” exclaimed Chibiusa causing Ami to give a shy laugh.
“WHAT? WELL I’LL LET YOU KNOW THAT I WAS TIED, GAGED, BLINDED, UNCOMFORTABLE AND SCARED!! THAT’S A PRETTY GOOD EXCUSE IN MY OPINION”. Fought back the enraged moon princess causing it to turn into a full blown squabble between the two, causing everyone to laugh at their friends little fight and enjoying the rest of the night.
They opened gifts, ate cake, drank soda, danced and had an amazingly good time, and the main attraction was the video Hotaru took of them being kidnapped. It was a night the moon princesses would never forget.
The End
- Entry Two:
Princess Lady Serenity gave a little twirl in front of her full length mirror, eyeing her figure with a devastatingly criticizing look. Her long spun sugar pink hair had been done in the traditional family style. Bangs curled inwards to frame the gently glowing pink crescent moon on her forehead, and sections of her hair done in rabbit ear like cone buns. The rest had been looped once around the base of her cones and pinned to form long pigtails that trailed down toward the ground, often threatening to brush against the ground, a travesty to be sure. White pearl barrettes nestled in her hair in the front, used to hold her bangs in place. She was wearing, of course, her formal royal gown. A beauteous masterpiece of pink satin and silk, styled into an empire waist gown. Pale pink pearls strung in a double line underneath her bust, providing a little support for her well budded body. She adjusted her multi layered off the shoulder sleeves, made of marvelously soft pink satin to match her gown. She looked at how the layers of fabric artfully surrounded her form, moving mysteriously with each motion she made. Was it good enough for tonight of all nights? Lady Serenity gave her reflection a harsh stare for a few moments before she relaxed and allowed her lightly lipsticked lips to curl into a dainty smile. It would certainly at least do. She turned and swept out of her room, eager to get to the ballroom to see her birthday surprise for this year, her 18th birthday. But how could she ever forget this special day she shared with one of the people she loved the most?
And there she was. A vision of ethereal beauty, all golden and white and silver. Neo Queen Serenity stood waiting in her own formal gown, an elegant snow white gown that gently hugged her figure, accentuating her feminine and perfect curves. Pearls ran in a string above and below her bust, a triple row of tiny pearls running below the top string. A row of delicately gold accented crescents ran under the tiny pearls, above the bottom string of pearls, with a matching row of ovals above the top string of pearls. Her sleeves, reminiscent of a seashell, hung gently on her arms, white accented with pale gold. Wings made of sheer silvery fabric reached out from her back, giving her even more of an angelic appearance. Her golden hair done in the style that had inspired Lady Serenity's, done with round buns instead of cones. A golden crescent symbol glowed gently on the Queen's forehead, framed perfectly by the golden curled bangs. On top of her head, delicately perched, was her crown, a beautiful thing crafted from white pearls and silver twisted into a heart that framed a white crystal. Simple but elegant, just like the woman wearing it. She was wearing a pearl necklace for this special day, a present from a previous year. Neo Queen Serenity gave her daughter a warm, gentle smile and reached out her hand. Lady Serenity needed no further invitation, taking her mother's equally pale and slender hand in her own. No words were needed, not after all the years they had spent together, laughing and learning about each other. A single shared glance, and they walked through the large double doors together.

- Entry Three:
Queen Lady Serenity smiled and nodded her head, her voice’s echo ringing against the crystalline walls for a moment before it was swept away in exuberant applause. The ballroom was filled with guests dressed in their finest gowns and tuxedos, and the color pink laced around the room elegantly: it peeked out from elaborate fabrics of those gathered, the rose on every man’s breast and tucked into every lady’s hairstyle, and the handkerchiefs tucked into blouses and sleeves; it colored the tabletops, sloshed in silver cups, frosted the cupcakes and stained the berries. She adored the effect, especially in the reflections on the ceiling and in the floor - it was as though they were dancing in a cotton-candy dream.
It had been a long night, and an excellent party. Her cheeks ached from smiling, her feet pulsed from dancing through so many songs, and, with the applause from her farewell speech still thundering and echoing back on itself through the ballroom, it was time to go. Smoothly she turned and walked across the dais through a large door, Pallas, Ceres, Juno and Vesta following behind her. The girls spoke cheerfully about the night as they walked from the ballroom to the elevator and rose the many stories up to the royal apartments, laughing at jokes and reactions, Queen Lady Serenity laughing just as loud as they, snickering every time she glanced over at Juno and saw her in the frilly pink dress Ceres had chosen for her to wear that night, which, of course, made Juno fume.
They said goodnight when they reached the floor of the Royal apartments, the guardian senshi to their quarters, the Queen of the Solar System and Crystal Millennium breaking off to visit the apartment of her young daughter, Princess Little Lovely Serenity. She crept through the night-lit room to her tiny crib and peered over at the darling baby sleeping soundly within. Her silvery lavender locks, already half as long as she was just after a year of life, spread out around her, her tiny fists tangled in the silky length. She smiled and bent into the crib, kissing her softly on the cheek; the baby fidgeted, her little mouth moving noisily for a second before falling back into a deep slumber. It had been a long and exciting day for the little princess, as first birthdays often were; she had presents and plays, and spent the entire day with both mother and her father for as long as she could stay awake, and those light green eyes tired quickly under such stimulation.
“Happy birthday, Little Lovely,” she whispered for the second time that day as the Queen turned and exited the nursery, closing the door softly behind her. When she turned around she jumped and squeaked in a childish manner, surprised to find a figure suddenly before her.
Helios chuckled. “I’m sorry to have startled you, my Queen,” he greeted slyly, wrapping his arms around her waist loosely, pulling her in close.
“Oh, my King, you lie so well,” she teased, kissing him lightly on the lips, her forearms resting on his shoulders with her hands clasped together behind his neck. “You missed the end of a wonderful party.”
“A regretful occurrence,” he sighed, looking away from her as though in melancholy.
She giggled and kissed him again, “Watch out, or your nose might start growing like the poor puppet in Little Love’s storybook!” Helios had never been one for large celebrations, and so, as usual, found some ‘pressing business’ in Elysion to attend to just a half hour into the celebrations, taking the Princess up to bed before moving to the realm deep within Earth. She didn’t mind, knowing his aversion to large crowds.
“Are you coming to bed?” he asked, resting his forehead on hers.
She smiled, “In a little bit, I wanted to wish my mother a Happy Birthday, first.”
He nodded and let her go, opening the wide doors to their room and disappearing into the elegant interior. She turned and continued down the hall, opening a door at the end of the hall and entering, the story and excitement still on her face. “Mother! Oh mother it was such a great day!” she gushed, sitting on a couch beside the pillow, “You should have seen Little Love! She was nothing but smiles and giggles, reaching and eager to touch everything! Oooh,” she groaned, “but she’s always putting things in her mouth. You wouldn’t believe the things she tries to put in there. Sure, food of any shape and size within reach, but also stuffed toys and ceramic unicorns and buttons and handkerchiefs – sometimes it’s all that we can do to keep her from choking on something! Oh, one day I’m just so afraid that someone’s not watching her and something terrible will happen.” She paused, “but then, with everyone watching over her, I’m sure she’ll be alright.
“There was a festival in every great city, of course, with schools and businesses shut down to celebrate, but we got celebratory messages from all over wishing for our wellbeing and long lives! I loved everything sent our way, but I think, even against the peacocks and other strange gifts, my favorite presents were the crayon drawings and pictures of the girls from around the world trying their own senshi poses. It’s so sweet, Mother, you should see some of them! Each say that they wish they were a senshi so that they could protect us; I’m trying to write a personal reply to each and every one of them, telling them how much the sentiment means to me, but saying hat the best thing they can do is to live happily, and to be true to their hearts…
“Oh, but the party! It was so excellent, Mother! The cake was so delicious and simply everyone wore pink, even Juno! There was so much dancing and singing and I really think everyone had a great time! I just…” she paused, staring into the folded hands in her lap, her voice growing quiet, “I just wish you could have been there.”
“I miss you,” the admission squeaked through her throat, tears forming in the corners of her eyes, her voice breaking with the desperate emotion, “And it’s selfish and it’s childish, but I just miss you so much!” she sobbed once, audibly, staring through watery eyes at the silver crystal on its pillowed pedestal. “I wish you could be here with me again. I wish you could come to parties and receive letters and laugh with me again, I wish you could see Love grow up! Mother,” she cried, her hand pressing her chest at her heart, attempting to ease the pain she felt, still as fresh now as the day her mother had moved on. “I miss you!”
She cried then, hard tears and sobs that drained her, thinking back on all their fights, all the trouble she caused her while they grew up, all the problems her mother had helped her through, her constant support and encouragement, easing her nerves and bolstering her spirits… they used to talk, so much and for such a long time, playing and teasing each other even when she grew to adulthood, and now… now her mother was gone.
When her tears had run dry and her throat was raw, she finally stood, feeling lighter and more at peace with herself. The silver crystal gleamed with a friendly light, sparkling in the spotlight above it and reflecting a rainbow of hues across the room, shining even on its golden match on the pedestal next to it. She smiled then as she noticed a strong pink hue in the center of the prismic beam, and whispered, “Happy birthday, Mother.”
When she left the room she found Helios waiting for her, and, hand in hand, they went to bed.

- Entry Four:
“….Chibiusa?”
“Yeah, Usagi?”
“Will I make a good queen and mother?” Usagi asked as they sat on the steps right outside of Rei’s shrine. She had her head down, sadly, on what was supposed the happiest day of the two girls lives. They both were celebrating their birthday at the same time, for the first time. Plus, it was Usagi’s sweet 16, so that meant it was an extra special day. Unfortunately, the young girl had loads of thoughts in her mind, which surprised her, depressed her, since she was always so bubbly. Maybe that had been the problem.
Chibiusa could tell all day that she was upset, especially when Usagi hardly ate her ice cream earlier when they went out. She looked at her, and she could tell that she was crying. This was not like her, and she never would ask questions about the future. What should I say?
“Baka Usagi!” Chibiusa said in a fluster. “Why would you ask something like that?”
“Well…even though I’m 16…I still act as if I’m in junior high, like I’m a baby.” Usagi signed, crossed her arms and pouted.
“HAH, Usagi, no matter how old you are, you’ll still act like a baby.” Chibiusa laughed hard and was rolling all over the ground, until she heard sniffles. Usagi was crying again. “I’m sorry Usagi, I was only joking!”
“No you’re right! I’m a good for nothing soldier.” Usagi took her Crisis Moon Compact out of her pocket. “And this….I don’t deserve it.” She squeezed it tightly as more tears started streaming down her face.
Chibiusa had never seen Usagi THIS upset, especially on her own birthday, and she had no idea what to do. She stared at the puffy eyed girl, feeling depressed, until she remembered! Her tune suddenly changed. “Pancakes!”
“Huh?” Usagi said confused. “I know, I’m sorry, I burnt them this morning…”
“No, no, no! You asked me how you are as a queen, right? WELL, PANCAKES.”
“Are you okay, Chibiusa?”
“Usagi, JUST LISTEN! I know I’m not supposed to tell you EVERYTHING about our future together, so I’ll tell you the BEST things!” Chibiusa said with a smile. Usagi dried her eyes and listened intensely. “When it was time for me to take my title as a princess, Mom and Dad wanted to throw me my first elegant party in the ballroom, although I didn’t want one at all…but Mom insisted.”
“Really?”
“Yep! But I really gave you a hard time about it, since I hate stuffy parties since they are no fun. You don’t even like them…..so you and Dad gave me the best surprise ever!”
“What?” Usagi exclaimed.
“Mom had a PANCAKE DINNER! Everyone came and it was the most fun I had in a long, LONG time, and we all were stuffed from batter that night.” Chibiusa and Usagi laughed together. “See you’re started to feel better already!”
“That’s a nice thing that I did! Tell me more!” Usagi yelled.
“Well every Sunday, no matter the events that are going on, Mom and Dad always make time for outings in the city with me, just so we can get out of the castle occasionally, but…” Chibusa started to whisper, “Mom and Dad dress in REGULAR clothes, like you do now!”
“You’re kidding!? I thought a queen has to be poised and proper and a real lady!” Usagi said. Chibiusa stood up and chuckled softly.
“Usagi, my mom and dad are not as regal as you think they are. That time when you fought the Black Moon Clan was really the most they have EVER been serious.” Usagi listened with the shock plastered on her face. “They goof around, actually even more after I’m born, especially Dad! Sailor Mars bickers all the time with my mom, Sailor Mercury helps her with speeches and press conferences. Jupiter is always at her side…I guess you could say as a bodyguard….and Venus…” Chibiusa paused, as Usagi anxiously waited. “Venus helps you plan dates with my dad, and with your makeup.”
“Wow! So…I still get help in the future?” Usagi asked with a smile.
“OF COURSE! Even a Queen needs help herself!” Chibiusa sat back down closely, next to Usagi.
“Well what about you? How do we act together?” Usagi asked, serious once again. Her eyes showed her worry for the future. She wanted to live up to her expectations, even more that people would think of. Suddenly, she felt a warm hand on hers. Usagi turned to see Chibiusa, beaming.
“Usagi, we may bicker and fight about stupid stuff, but I..."Chibiusa pouted and her face became red as she turned away.
“Chibiusa? What?”
“I-I love you and my mom in the same way!” Chibiusa hugged Usagi tightly, as tears went down her face. “Please, do not doubt yourself. I’m sorry if I’ve made you feel bad…about anything. You are amazing at 16, as a queen, and…as my mom. I could never ask for a better mother.” Usagi felt relief as she listened to her future daughter. Thank goodness.
“There you guys are.” Mamoru yelled as he ran up to the two girls. “Rei wants you guys to start opening presents….is everything okay?”
“Mamo-channnn!” Usagi and Chibiusa said together as they hugged him. “Everything is perfect.” Usagi said.
“Well okay, birthday girls, let’s go.” They all smiled, and Usagi knew that the smiles like this would last for years to come. From Double Moon Birthday Bash 2013 Writing Contest: - Entry One:

"Pallas, do you have a plan for distracting Small Lady?"
"Small Lady exits her room at 7:00 every morning. The night before her birthday, Juno will tie a bucket of jam to the door and place in on the ledge above it. When the door is opened, the jam will fall on Small Lady, covering her clothes and hair. She will turn left and head towards her bathroom. While she is wiping off the jam, Vesta and I will rip off the doorknob and replace it with one of my dolls, making her unable to leave. Then..."
"Pallas, we are not locking Small Lady in a bathroom. Besides, what am I going to do?"
"I was just getting to that part, Ceres! Anyway, you will hoverboard by her window holding that lace dress she loves. Once Small Lady sees you, say the words "Freezing Kiss" into your headset, which is disguised as part of your hairstyle. Juno will hear you though her walkie-talkie and lower a fishing-pole, which will catch onto the hinges and loosen them, causing the window to fall into a tree. Ceres will hoverboard through the window and hand the dress to Small Lady. Once she is fully dressed, lead her onto the hoverboard and take her shopping. If it all goes along to plan, we should have the next 9 hours to fully decorate the dining room and ballroom."
"Okay... um, do we have any better ideas?"
"I never thought Pallas was smart"
"Just because I love dolls doesn't mean I'm stupid, Vesta!"
"No one else... okay, Juno, have you convinced any of the others to help us?"
"Makoto is baking her cake and designing all of our decorations and clothes and Hotaru will help us distract Small Lady"
"And is the Helios plan working at all?"
"Let's see. Blackmail: No, Puppy-eyes: No, Doing extra chores: No, Hunger strike: No, Skywriting: No, Actually going to Elysion, No, Cats: No"
"Why cats?"
"You know how the king loves Diana, so we decided to have her convince him."
"And we also kidnapped a pink cat and tried to give it to the king in exchange for Helios"
"Let me guess: Diana failed to successfully convince him and the pink cat's owner discovered you"
"Vesta..."
"There was also the child kidnapping plan..."
"PALLAS"
"At least my plans work!"
"Oh yeah, wouldn't that mean that we would've taken over the world back then?"
"We are supposed to be talking about Small Lady's party, not our days as the Amazoness Quartet!"
"Ceres, why do you always have to be the mature one?"
"Probably because I'm the only one who can actually focus on something for more than five seconds"
"Except for when romance enters the picture"
"And shopping"
"Remember that time we had a mission in that clothing store and all you did was ogle over those shoes?"
"I AM NOT A STUPID AIRHEAD!"
"You're being redundant"
"Who knows, maybe the dumb one isn't nearly as dumb as we thought..."
"Juno, why are you so mean?"
"I was just joking..."
"Um, guys, Neo-Queen Serenity is standing right next to us..."
"Hello, girls"
"Um... hello..."
"We apologize for any inconvenience we caused toward the senshi. We were just planning a party for you daughter, Small Lady"
"Ceres, you don't need to apologize for being a good friend towards my dear Small Lady. Neither do the rest of you, even though you were a little overenthusiastic about it"
"Thank you!"
"And I'll help you plan Small Lady's party, too!"

- Entry Two:
“I ate too much cake.” A body fell backwards onto the bed, her hands over her stomach. “You ate too much cake?” another body joined the first, this one smaller, but falling just as hard. She grumbled, her eyes closed and her lips in a sick frown, “I ate too much cake.” The first opened her eyes and side-eyed the second, “I ate more cake than you could ever dream of eating.” The second glared up at the first, tilting her head so their eyes locked. “I am made of cake.” “Then maybe I ate your twin because the amount of cake I ate was the size of your entire body!” “Then, proportionately, I still ate more cake!” the younger declared with a barb in her voice, crossing her arms in victory as the older girl got up on an elbow to glare at her. “Don’t bring math into this!” she exclaimed fervently, “This is a battle of ---uuuuugh,” she fell backwards, her face turning green as the miserably whined, “I ate too much caaaaake.” The younger whined too, giving up the premise of battle in favor of an upset stomach. “Me, toooooo.” “Why does she make it taste so good?” Usagi whined further, kicking her feet a bit. “Because everything Mako-chan makes tastes good,” Chibi-Usa weakly replied, “I don’t think she can help it.” “But it’s just so cruel!” Usagi wailed, “No one should feel this way on their birthday!” “Why did I eat so much?” Chibi-Usa muttered pitifully, “I never eat that much. I should be laughing at you right now, not whining with you.” “Yeah, you usually are, you little fink – now it’s my turn!” Usagi sat up again, making a face, only to plop back down again with a grimace, “I should be immune by now!” “Maybe it’s an evil plot.” Chibi-Usa whined. Both pair of eyes, blue and red, slowly opened until they were very wide. “The eggs! Or the flour!” Chibi-Usa marveled. “Mako-chan was an unsuspecting accomplice!” Usagi gasped shallowly, unable to get in a deep breath. “It’s definitely the enemy!” they exclaimed together. “And on my birthday!” Usagi’s whine turned into an angry accusation. “It’s my birthday, too!” Chibi-Usa seconded. “LUNA!” Usagi yelled. “Shh!” Chibi-Usa hushed quickly, putting a hand on confused Usagi, “We don’t want Ikuko-mama involved!” “Luna!” Usagi tried again in a loud whisper. “Diana!” Chibi-Usa joined. The girls called their cats repeatedly, but even after a good amount of time had passed, neither of the guardians showed. Chibi-Usa flipped over onto her stomach and crawled across the bed to the window, peering outside suspiciously. “What’s out there?” Usagi asked, grimacing as her future-daughter knelt on one of her pigtails. “Nothing,” Chibi-Usa replied suspiciously. “But that doesn’t mean that nothing is out there.” Usagi’s brows furrowed. “What do you mean?” she asked, pulling her hair free before turning over and joining Chibi-Usa at the window. “I don’t see anything!” “Shhh!” Chibi-Usa hushed again, putting a finger to her lips, “Just because we can’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not watching, just waiting for the right time to strike!” “You think they’re invisible?” Usagi asked skeptically. “Or camouflaged!”Chibi-Usa corrected heatedly, “They’re the Dead Moon Circus from the Amazon – camouflage is a big deal there!” Usagi pulled one of Chibi-Usa’s pink pigtails and said, “I think you’ve had too much cake,” and plopped back down on the bed again. Sighing in defeat, Chibi-Usa turned around and admitted quietly, “I might have just eaten too much cake. It was so good.” “See? You’re more like me than you think!” Usagi replied triumphantly from her back, a proud smirk on her face. “Yeah, yeah,” Chibi-Usa agreed off-handedly, shimmying down until she had enough room to spread out on Usagi’s bed. They were quiet for a moment, each absorbed in her own thoughts of their party, their friends, the cake, and that they were a year older. Usagi broke the silence. “Hey, Chibi-Usa?” she asked, her tone that of a girl at a sleepover party, speaking into the darkness really late at night and finally giving voice to the strangest thoughts imaginable and wanting to discuss them. Chibi-Usa hummed a response, indicating that she was listening. “What are our birthdays like in the 30th century?” “Huge,” the younger girl replied casually, shrugging as she added, “Sometimes they’re accompanied by circuses, but the circuses aren’t evil. There’s always a ball and Sailor Mercury sometimes designs mazes or makes really cool laser shows. And Sailor Jupiter bakes and always makes us little baskets to take up to our room to eat later. I thought mom just got one so I didn’t feel bad, but now I know she probably pigs out just like I do,” the last was a go at Usagi, who laughed weakly. “Hey Chibi-Usa?” she asked after another stretch of silence. Chibi-Usa sighed and hummed again. “Do you come on time?” “What?” Usagi kicked her feet uncomfortably, twiddling her thumbs as she clarified, “Are you an early baby or a late baby or do you come on time?” Chibi-Usa rolled her eyes and shook her head, “Why?” Usagi sighed heavily, “Well what if Mamo-chan and I – “ she was blushing and skipped ahead, “And they said that you were due on, I don’t know, July 10th or June 1st or something? Do you know how nerve-wracking that would be? Nine months wondering if something went wrong and –“ Chibi-Usa took Usagi’s hand and looked over at her skeptically, “Listen, I don’t know if I’m early or late or on time, but I’m your kid and you’re stuck with me. My birthday is June 30th, same as yours, so when it’s time just be ready for the absolute best birthday present ever.” Usagi smiled and squeezed Chibi-Usa’s hand. “Hey, Usagi? I am the best birthday present ever, right?” “Hmm, I don’t know… apparently I have a lot of birthdays…” “Usagi!” “I’m kidding. You’re the best.” “…. Good, because I didn’t get you anything this year.”

- Entry Three:
"Wake up!" I lifted myself off my comfy bed. It was 6:00 in the morning. On a Saturday! "What is it?" My future mother held her hairbrush like a microphone. "Today is your birthday, and it's my birthday too! Today is your birthday! Happy birthday to you!" Usagi whipped her blonde hair around and danced across the room, singing the Beatles. "Dance with me, Chibiusa!" "It's 6 in the morning! I'm tired!" "But you're 6 years old now! You're only 6 once! So dance with me!" Before I could answer, she grabbed my hand and was twirling me around, laughing. The song "Get The Party Started" by Pink was blasting out of the radio. "We gotta get the party started, Chibiusa! Lets get dressed, quick!" Usagi ran to her room. I pulled on my favorite dress with pink and red flowers and started to put my hair up. "You need help?" She was wearing a red top with lace, a navy blue skirt, and a white belt. Her hair was in her usual Odango style. She was beautiful. Everything that I wanted to be when I grew up. She reminded me of Mother. I was speechless. "I'll do your hair." Usagi pulled up a chair and sat down, hummimg. I sat on her lap. Her hands were gentle as she carefully pulled my hair back into two buns and pigtails. "I'm done." I hopped off and looked in the mirror. Usagi followed. "You look gorgeous, Chibiusa!" She giggled and playfully poked my nose. I blushed. "Usagi?" "Yeah, Chibiusa?" "I love you." "I know. I love you too." She hugged me tight. It felt warm and happy, like I was flying. It felt like Mother. It felt like love.

- Entry Four:
“I can't believe they forgot our birthday.” wailed a blond girl while a pink haired girl sat off to the side looking a bit put out. Both girls had just been to see all of their friends in search of their birthday presents. First stop had been Minako's as the blond always had something great for both of the birthday girls. When Minako opened the door she had seemed surprised to find out it was Usagi and Chibi-Usa's birthday. It had happened three more times Makoto hadn't even made them a cake. Thinking it might have only been the four inner senshi the two decided the next stop would in fact be The outers place but they also seemed surprised to find out it was the girls birthday. “Even Mamo-Chan forgot.” the pink haired girl said kicking a rock from the bench she was sitting on. Both girls looked at each other before they broke out into hysterics once more.
It wasn't long after that both girls heard laughing or actually it seemed more like a chuckle. They both looked up to see a short haired blond. “Haruka-San?” both girls asked looking at the older girl. The blond just shook her head and motioned for the birthday girls to fallow her. Curious the girls did just that crossing their arms when they ended up in front of Hikawa shrine. They looked at each other suspicious of why exactly they were there. Walking into one of the bigger rooms of the shrine both girls looked a bit upset at how empty the room was that was until everyone popped out yelling surprise. The moon princesses looked around at everyone surprised. “Now you don't think we would have forgotten today was your birthday now did you?” Minako asked sticking her tongue out at the other two girls. “Well Mamoru did forget it was your birthday but we took care of that for you.” Rei Said walking up to the girls. “Happy birthday princess.” Haruka said from beside her as Michiru joined the blond. “I also made a cake that's what I was doing when you stopped by.” Makoto called from where she was setting food out on the table.
Michiru handed the two girls their presets from her and Haruka and Hotaru ran up handing both girls their presents from her. “Michiru-Mama helped me wrap them.” the black haired girl said proudly. Both Usagi and chibi-Usa launched themselves at their friends with tear in the corners of their eyes. “I knew you couldn't have forgotten it was our birthday.” Usagi said. “What are you talking about I knew they hadn't but you were positive they had forgotten.” the pink haired girl said. “Chibi-Usa!” the blond called. The others just laughed at the scene the two girls were causing.
Written by Ari-chan From Double Moon Birthday Bash 2014 Writing Contest: ((theme is Wishes!)) - Entry One:
“Make a wish, Serenity!”
“Go on Small Lady, blow out your candles!”
The two birthday bunnies were seated at the head of the table, smiling down at their individual cakes. The sailor senshi and the king surrounded them, waiting in anticipation for the candles to be blown. Neo Queen Serenity winked at her daughter before leaning forward and blowing out her candles in one smooth movement. Small Lady smiled and closed her eyes, wishing with all her might for the one thing she desired most.
The young girl blew out her five candles and smiled with glee as the claps of the Senshi filled the room. She felt her father’s strong hands grab her tiny waist and hoist her onto his shoulders. She squealed in delight and clapped her hands, the excitement of her wish evident in her large smile. King Endymion placed her safely back in her seat, where her mother had already set a piece of cake in front of her.
In a matter of minutes, everyone was digging into the triple chocolate cake, complete with chocolate icing, chocolate chips, and chocolate syrup. All throughout the evening, the castle was filled with laughter, smiles, happy times and cheerful memories. For Small Lady, it was the best birthday yet.
As the young girl said good-bye to her friends and her mother’s senshi, she couldn’t stop thinking about her wish, and how desperately she wanted it to come true. She knew she couldn’t tell anyone, but she was going to explode if she had to hold it in any longer. Maybe if she told her parents, they would try to get her what she wanted. Yes, that was what she would do.
~
Neo Queen Serenity heaved a sigh of exhaustion as the palace doors closed behind her friends. Her husband, King Endymion, smirked at her.
“Is my wife actually tired from a party? You really must have gotten older.”
Serenity scoffed and slapped him in the arm. “Well excuse me, Mister Anti-Social. I didn’t see you trying to entertain all of our guests today,” she replied, walking away from him. He chuckled and followed her, down the corridor and into their bedroom. While her back was turned, he took the opportunity and grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him.
“What did you wish for, your Highness?” he said, his voice dangerously low as he backed her into a wall.
The queen crossed her arms over her chest, still the same girl she was ten years ago. “If I tell you, it won’t come true,” she replied simply.
“Oh come on, you don’t really believe in that stuff, do you?”
“Of course I do! Wishes are like secrets; better left unsaid.”
“So, does that mean if I tell you mine, it won’t come true?” a new voice quipped.
Endymion’s eyes widened and he backed away from his wife, turning around to find Small Lady standing in the doorway. Her eyelids were heavy, and she yawned before continuing:
“I just…really want to tell someone my wish,” she said quietly.
The married couple glanced at each other, both wearing concerned expressions.
“Is everything okay, sweetheart?” Serenity said, walking to her daughter and getting on her knees.
“Tell us your wish, honey. It could still come true,” Endymion added, following his wife.
“Well…” Small Lady started to say, “I really want…a new brother or sister. One who could play with me and go on walks with me and keep me company when I’m lonely. That’s my wish. Can you get me one Daddy? Please?”
Serenity and Endymion blinked at their daughter in surprise.
“What? I’m sure they aren’t that expensive,” Small Lady said, placing her hands on her hips.
Serenity shook her head and laughed. “No princess, but they are a lot of…work. Daddy and I will do our best, okay?” she said, hugging the pink-haired child.
A smile the size of a banana spread across the young princess’s face and she cheered. “Yay! Thanks so much!” she squealed, throwing her arms around her father. Endymion was frozen, still unable to process what his daughter had requested.
“Go get some sleep now – you’ve had a long day,” Serenity said, gently pushing her daughter towards the door.
With a happy wave, Small Lady was gone and Serenity had shut the door behind her. She turned around, facing her husband.
“Did she just…?” Endymion stammered.
“She did,” Serenity replied.
With a sly grin, the blonde queen walked towards her husband and wrapped her arms around his neck.
The king chuckled and scooped her up, tossing her lightly onto their bed and crawling on top of her. She placed one hand around his neck and kissed him, but it wasn’t long until Endymion pulled away.
“Wait…you still haven’t told me your wish,” Endymion stated.
Serenity’s smile only grew.
“I guess when you have the same birthday, you have the same wishes.”
And that was all Endymion needed to hear.

- Entry Two:
Usagi sat beside her window looking up at the night sky. It was a clear night and a rarity in Tokyo to see stars. Usagi was gazing at the moon when a shooting star darted past her view. She closed her eyes and made a wish. I wish that I will be able to spend the day with Mamo-chan tomorrow. It had been awhile since Usagi and Mamoru had actually seen each other. Usagi was busy with high school entrance exams and Mamoru was busy with his own studies and applications to study abroad. Usagi took one last look at the moon before closing her window and climbing into bed for the night. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow and dreamed sweet dreams of her and Mamo-chan on an afternoon picnic date.
The next morning Usagi woke up and had to run to the washroom. She felt sick. She looked in the mirror and noticed how pale and clammy she looked. She rummaged through the medicine cabinet and found the thermometer and took her temperature. She had a fever and that was not all as she felt her stomach turn violently. A few moments later Usagi went back to her room and crawled back into bed. She saw it was a sunny spring morning. Usagi was bummed that she was stuck in bed and thought there was no way her wish would come true now that she had the flu.
Usagi heard a knock on the door.
“Usagi, are you okay?” Ikuko asked.
“I think I have the flu,” Usagi said.
Ikuko came in and felt Usagi’s forehead. She felt the heat of Usagi’s head against her wrist. Ikuko tucked Usagi back in and walked out of the room. “I will be back with some soup for you.” Ikuko said as she closed the door behind her.
Usagi drifted back to sleep and into a dream. This time she was on the river in a paddleboat with Mamo-chan, laughing about something he had said, while he playfully splashed her with water. “Stop-it Mamo-chan” Usagi said while laughing.
Usagi woke to a cold towel on her forehead, her mom had returned with soup. Usagi sat up to eat the soup her mom made for her. She was eating her soup and decided to check her phone and see if she had any messages. She had a message from Ami, Naru , and Mamoru. She opened his message first: Usa,
What do you have planned for today? I was wondering if you would like to have a picnic at the park today. -Mamoru
Usagi sat in frustration for a moment as she thought how ironic it was that she wanted to spend the day with Mamoru, and she woke up with the flu. She text him back telling him she would have to take a rain check because she was sick. Usagi answered the rest of her texts as she finished her soup. She lay back down and fell asleep. She slept well into the afternoon. She got up to get some water. She was starting to feel a little better but wanted to take it easy. When she got to the fridge, she saw a note her mom had left saying she had run to a friend’s house and would be back a little later.
Usagi poured herself a glass of water. She got a blanket and went and sat on the couch, turning on the TV, hoping to find a good movie to watch. She had been sitting for a good half hour when she heard a knock on the door. She wondered who it could be. Usagi got up and walked to the door. She opened it and was shocked to see Mamoru standing in her doorway.
“Mamo-chan, what are you doing here?” Usagi said a blush rushing to her face as she hugged her blanket closer to her. She knew she looked messy in her sweatpants, tee shirt and her hair affray. She didn’t feel like styling it since she had been sick. Mamoru stepped in as he said “I wanted to check and see how you were doing.” After closing the door behind him and slipping off his shoes he stepped towards Usagi, bent down and kissed her lightly on the forehead.
“Mamo-chan,” Usagi said blushing again, “I don’t want you to get sick too. Mamoru shrugged, he didn’t care if Usagi was sick, he wanted to spend some time with her since their studies had kept them so busy. Mamoru pulled off his shoulder bag revealing fresh sweet rolls. He handed one to Usagi. “I thought you could use some sweets, I am sure you are sick of seeing soup.” Mamoru said, a smile forming on his face. Even if Usagi was sick, he thought she looked gorgeous, he would never tell her but he loved seeing her hair affray. He could tell she was a little embarrassed of her look, so he tried to put her at ease. “What are you watching?” Mamoru asked casually.
“Oh, nothing really.” “Do you want to see if we can find something to watch?” Usagi asked as she sat down and nibbled on her sweet roll. They settled on a comedy movie. Usagi found the movie quite humorous . Mamoru on the other hand wasn’t watching the movie. He was watching Usagi. He loved hearing her laugh and was happy to spend this time with her. He scooted closer to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder in a very subtle way. Usagi hadn’t realized his arm was around her shoulder, she was caught up in the movie, but she subconsciously relaxed, resting her head on Mamoru’s shoulder. She looked up at him and caught him gazing at her.
“What?” Usagi asked playfully, “is there something on my face?”
“No, just enjoying spending this time with you.”
“Me too Mamo-chan.” Usagi said with a smile on her face.
They changed the channel until they found an old black and white movie. It was in the middle of the movie, but Usagi was curious about what was going on in the movie. Mamoru was enjoying the movie, he always had an appreciation for the classics. He looked over at Usagi and noticed she had dozed off. Poor thing he thought, she was probably more tired than she thought. Mamoru leaned over and placed her legs on the couch and covered her up. Sleep took Usagi deeper and deeper, Mamoru laid Usagi’s head in his lap to prevent her falling face first off the couch. He ran his fingers through her hair as she slept. When the movie was over, Mamoru turned off the TV. He got up careful not to wake Usagi and laid her head on a pillow. He bent down to kiss her on the cheek. “Get better son Usako, I want to take you on a proper date soon,” Mamoru whispered. He left her a note saying that he enjoyed spending the afternoon with her and to let him know when she was feeling better and they would go on a proper date. Mamoru left quietly taking one last look at Usagi, admiring her beauty before he closed the door behind him.
Usagi woke up in a slight daze, she hadn’t remembered falling asleep and looked around for Mamoru, but didn’t see him only a folded paper with her name on it. She opened it and read Mamoru’s note. She hugged it to her chest. She hoped she would feel better soon, so she could go out with Mamoru. Usagi got up, decided to take a shower since she felt a lot better than she had when she woke up. After her shower she came and sat by her window. She opened her window to gaze at the night sky, once again surprised at how clear the sky was. She looked at the stars and gasped. Well it isn’t quite how I managed it but my wish to spend time with Mamoru did come true. Usagi smiled before closing her window and going to bed for the night, hoping to feel 100% better in the morning.

| A little late, but Happy Birthday Usagi! - Happy Birthday Usagi!:
Happy Birthday Usagi!
The 4 inner senshi speculate on just how Usagi and Mamoru choose to celebrate June 30th this year.
Makoto leaned back with a sigh. Nothing could save her now. No way to pull victory from the jaws of defeat like she had so often done. "Pass." "I pass too." Minako was in the same unfortunate situation. Rei smiled. Her turn was coming up soon. This was it. A soft voice interrupted these dire proceedings. "Minako-chan, you've been holding out on the ace of hearts. Play it or Rei will be daifugo again 2 hands." "Oh! Thanks Ami-chan! I take back that pass then." The ace of hearts landed on the table. "She's picking tonight's movie if she wins and I'm not up to watching Casablana again. BORING." "Hey! It's a classic for a reason! Not my fault you have no sense of culture. Ami-chan! Stop helping her count cards!" "I don't know what you're talking about." Ami's poker face didn't slip an inch. Makoto covered her cards possessively like Ami could see them from across the table. "Awww, let her do her thing." Minako couldn't resist a further dig at Rei's expense. "Aren't you the one that always says that the world of gambling is very severe?" "Fine" Rei fumed. "Ami gets to use her special abilities, I get to use mine" "EVERYONE COVER YOUR BRAINS! Rei's going psycho again!" Rei concentrated over Minako's dramatic wailing. Let's see...Makoto first. She had the least amount of cards left and her mind was usually an easy read. She was so straight forward. Hmmm... a pair of 4s. Looks like she used all her good cards early. Onto Minako...wow a full house of queens and...oh no... Minako was onto her. She was now concentrating on funky classic rock tune... oh god...now she was mentally undoing her shirt. Slowly. One button at a time. Hands and body moving to the increasingly urgent wail of the guitar. Minako was imagining herself stripping to said funky rock tune. Rei's eyes widened in shock. Minako burst out laughing in victory. Ok...she didn't need to see that. Onto Ami then. Brrr...a wall of ice. Move along, nothing to see here. Wait...what's was that sound? Music started thumping though Ami's mind. Why was Ami thinking of the same damn song as as Minako? GAHH!...WHY WAS AMI THINKING ABOUT MINKAO DANCING NAKED? WHAT THE HELL!? She did not need to see that. "Sorry." Ami smiled apologetically and pointed at the cackling blonde. "Her fault. Minako told me to imagine that in case you decided to cheat using psychic powers." Rei clutched her heart in an overdramatic wounded gesture. "Et tu Ami-chan? You're impure!" Rei knew that would have been more convincing if she wasn't currently starting to have a nosebleed. Makoto sighed and tossed her pair of 4s onto the table. "Arugh, I fold. so this game is clearly going nowhere. What should we do instead?" Ami put down her cards as well. "Mmmm... I do wish Usagi would get here soon." "Well, you know it's her special birthday date with Mamoru. I bet that's going well. What do you think they are up to?" Minako jumped in with her usual freakishly high energy levels. "Oooo! OOOO! I know! I bet its something like this:
"The golden twinkle of the City of Light shimmered on the water all around them. Usagi stared lovingly into Mamoru's eyes as the totally romantic song of the gondolier hit a particularly stirring note. Oh yeah! They are on a gondola by the way. I should have mentioned that off the bat. Anyways, Usagi leaned in to kiss him passionately and -"
"Promptly fell out of the boat. This is USAGI we are talking about." Rei snickered at her own comment. Minako glared at her for the interruption of her beautiful scenelet. "The City of Light... wait, are they in Paris? Paris doesn't have gondolas. Did you mean Venice?" Ami piled onto the 'derail Minako's fantasy' train... "Yeah, I don't get it either. Usagi's supposed to be here for cake at 9 o'clock, she can't be halfway across the world." ...and now Makoto with the finishing move. "Ugh, you bunch of spoilsports. Fine! I'll start over You want realistic? The Goddess of Love shall provide!" Minako cleared her throat dramatically and began her tale anew. "So, Usagi and Mamoru are in a hotel room together in nearby Shinjuku (Mako, is that better huh?). There they are, looking lovingly into each other's eyes, when suddenly there was a knock at the door..."
Mamoru got up from the bed to answer a knock at the door. He tipped the bellboy generously and wheeled the room service cart into the room himself. He took inventory of the food on the cart. Strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate sauce. Everything he needed to make this a memorable night. Usagi was going to be so excited. She was waiting for him on the bed, covered in candlelight and nothing else. "Mamo-chan..." "Happy 18th Birthday Usako. I am going to make this extra special for you." Mamoru blew out candle out. The last thing she saw was his warm gentle smile as he reached down for her -
"MINAKO-NO-ECCHI! A hotel room?! What are you thinking?" "Dammit Rei-chan! Quit interrupting! A girl can dream can't she? It's a good thing to have big dreams." A long sigh sounded from across the table. Both Rei and Minako turned to see Makoto sitting there with a dreamy look in her eyes. "Y'know I liked that story better. I kind of liked where you were going with the food actually... Ok. My turn!" Makoto enthusiastically began her version of Usagi and Mamoru's birthday date:
Usagi and Mamoru sat across the table form each other at that fancy french place that's been getting the amazing reviews online lately. Because Usagi didn't understand a word of French. It was up to Mamoru-san to order the food. "Oh Sempai, you always take such good care of me."
"Sempai?" Minako jumped on the chance to nitpick at Makoto's story "I don't think Usagi has ever called him that before." "Heh. Right. OK. I'll rework that. It's not the important part anyways. Moving on..."
"Oh Mamo-chan! You always take such good care of me. This is the most wonderful meal I've ever had!" And so it was. The first course of rare imported Tsarkaya oysters from Cancale came and went. They were so perfect that they did not need the usual accompaniment or lemon or horseradish...although I bet Usagi would like a mignonette with a sweet champagne vinegar, lots of black pepper and a bit of chopped shallots... Anyways, the waiter came and dropped off the second course – an old classic: Magret de canard a l'orange with melted leeks and pomme pont neuf. The duck itself was perfectly seared. Crisp skin, succulent meat, with a slight smokiness that hinted at maybe bacon? The pink of the meat contrasted with the deep velvety mahogany of the sauce. Fresh orange juice, white wine, duck stock, orange zest, and a splash of Grand Mariner...the citrus notes of the orange sauce should cut through the richness of the meat and create a beautifully balanced flavour profile. I bet they would add a little tarragon to the sauce too...that's what I would do... Oh! I'm getting sidetracked. The real surprise is coming. Mamoru leads Usagi to the private room of the restaurant. Inside is a buffet table of desserts, and a beautiful frosted birthday cake int he middle. With roses. Lots of roses...and then while she's looking at all teh goodies, he's going to yell something like: "Happy Birthday Usagi! May they all be as sweet!"
"Dammit Mako-chan! Now I'm hungry. That was not at all where I was going with the food." Minako's stomach growled to punctuate her point. "What? I can't help it! Not my fault you didn't eat before you came. We should wait for Usagi to come back before we eat her birthday cake this year." Rei offered up her two cents worth for free. "You think she could eat cake after that huge imaginary meal of yours Mako-chan?" "It's Usagi! She totally could. You guys didn't even let me get to the best part. There was going to be creme brulee, and an almond custard tart, and profiteroles, and chocolate mousse, and some crepes, and -" "Enough with the food! Even Usagi can't eat that much. I hope anyways...You two are terrible at this. Ami-chan, got any ideas? You're being awfully quiet here. Please distract the bottomless pit here." The girl in question tilted her head, thinking for a moment at Rei's request. Soon enough, the words came to her and Ami began to tell her tale...
The soft silvery moonlight filtered through the swaying trees. A gentle wind carried the fragrance of roses to where Usagi and Mamoru sat in the park. They drank deep of each other's presence, both mutually lost in the moment. The stars themselves shone their blessing on the lovers below. Mamoru looked into Usagi's eyes. The shining blue of a clear summer's day, yet without the harshness of the garish sun. Simple at first glance, but with a depth that invited one to dive in and drown in the purity of the light within. Usagi's eyes were as expressive as a well written book. How did he get so lucky? Mamoru thought to himself. "Usako. Your eyes...when I am with you, I feel the truth in the beauty of these words." Mamoru dropped to one knee as he recited words of poetry to his beloved. "...And on that cheek and o'er that browSo soft, so calm, yet eloquent The smiles that win and the tints that glow but tell of days in goodness spent A mind at peace with all below a heart whose love is innocent"Usagi sighed happily and melted into Mamoru's arms. "Oh Mamo-chan...you always did understand me so well..." "Happy birthday Usako. I bless the day that you were born."
Makoto sighed with a glassy-eyed look in her eyes. "Ami-chan...so romantic!" Minako chimed in with a near identical expression on her face. "You big softy. I knew you had it in you!" They sighed again in unison. Ami blushed at their overreaction. Rei patted the embarrassed genius on the head affectionately. "That's lovely Ami-chan, but in what world would Usagi understand that poem? Her English is terrible." "Hmm? It's a Lord Byron poem. ' She Walks in Beauty' We learned it in class last week. I assume she's caught up on her readings." The assembled senshi all had a bit of a chuckle at Ami's rather optimistic view on Usagi's academic prowess. As the laughter died down, Minako turned to Rei with an order. "So, Rei-chan. We've all gone. How about you? You don't get to sit out of this one!" Rei made a sour face. "Ugh, knowing her, Usagi's probably dragged Mamoru into a the mall and has spent the last few hours trying to decide what he should buy her for her birthday. He's probably just following her around carrying a bunch of bags and worrying about his credit card statement at the end of the month." Makoto raised an eyebrow at Rei's bluntness. "Rei, isn't that a rather...lame? Mamoru-san can be a bit of an ass sometimes, but he means well. Even he's got to be more romantic than a date to the mall." Each senshi went over what they knew of Usagi and Mamoru's miracle romance. "...well, there was that year when his gift turned out to be a diamon. but he made it up to her! I don't think that was really his fault anyways. He was just trying to make up for not knowing it was her birthday in the first place..." Ami's voice trailed off as Makoto picked up her point. "And he did develop a split personality once just to protect her. That's kind of romantic right? Really really weird, but romantic?" "Yeah! Rei-chan, you dated the guy yourself for a while. What did you see in him?" Rei smacked Minako on the arm for bringing up that embarrassing episode of her life. "Ok, fine. He does take pretty good care of Usagi. I can live with that. Still, I just do not like men." A new voice jumped into the conversation. "Not to worry Rei-chan! They don't like you right back!" Usagi appeared in the doorway with the final comeback of the evening. Surprisingly she was on time. She winked at the rest of her friends. They were all laughing again, except for Rei who was busy sticking her tongue out at her Princess. Usagi smiled so innocently that even Rei had to laugh. The senshi all spontaneously pounced on Usagi as one for a birthday group hug. There was more laughter as it took everyone a moment to untangle themselves. Usagi didn't mind it at all. "Happy birthday Usagi! How was your day?" Usagi considered the questiont. She spent the day with her family, her evening with Mamoru and now, she was having a sleepover with her friends. It was the most perfect birthday she could imagine.
