| Very awesome idea Miki! I like this thread. So, as you're watching this, are you trying to find the purpose in each episode or just stating the actual purpose? I guess what I mean is, if you come across an episode that you do indeed find to be sort of "filler" after you watch it without a really obvious purpose, are you going to search for the purpose or say that it didn't have a purpose? I hope the way I said that made sense :p

I thought that at first too, that's what it seems like until you read what she wrote after each one. Maybe clarify that, Miki? |

| I'm going through each episode one by one regardless of if its obviously not filler. For some episodes its obvious, some not so much! I'm going to try and find a true purpose for each episode. If there isn't one, I'll think about it and if im really stumped ill say so! (What I'm worried about are the two vacation episodes in the first season and R XD But stay tuned and see! So far no episode has been truly redundant! Each offers important plot or character! And without these character-building episodes, it would be a very static series.

That's dedication. Not quite, last year, I managed to watch the entire anime (including Answer the Moon Call, all specials, all movies), the entire liveaction series, all 26 recorded musicals (including the poor quality fanrecorded SuperS Musical Show and both versions of Final First Stage), read the entire manga and played Another Story twice. I also managed to watch the first series and first half of R in Englishdub but stopped after not finding the R Movie Cut (though I have now so I might start again. And none (except the dub) was doing it for the first time... Just the first time doing it all at once! LETS DO IT AGAIN D: Its not as much as it sounds, just doing a little bit each day. If you just squeeze it around your schedule its not as bas as it sounds. Im actually a really busy person... I just dont sleep very much. |

| 4000 isnt as much as it sounds thats just under 72 hours. so if i REALLY wanted to i could have a nonstop sailor moon marathon and watch it all! But I'm being sensible and watchin like 3 a day... though I might marathon one day and take a big chunk out... *has a very long attention span*

| 60 minutes in one hour... 24 hours in one day
60 x 24 = 1440 minutes in a day
4000 / 1440 = 2.7 days
At least I think thats how to Maths... I haven't done real Maths in a long time |

| Miki I believe your maths is correct. xD (also great thread, I can't wait to read later episodes). I think its also safe to assume that jus tbecause tis not in the manga, it doesn't make it filler. The manga is really a seperate entity as is the same with PGSM and the musicals. You can't really go "OH ITS NOT IN THE MANGA SO ITS FILLER." Cause with the way its set up, thats not necessarily true. o.o |

| ^^ THIS
I hate it when people are like THAT DIDNT HAPPEN IN THE MANGA!?
I'm like chill peeps the anime doesnt have to be just like the manga. It's like book movies if book movies had everything from the book than you would be watching a 10 hour movie. |

| I don't get why filler have to be considered a bad thing. Technically were filler since the anime ran side by side the manga and they were still waiting on it and had time to kill, and I thought they made an excellent addition to the anime. I'm sure there are more examples but that's really the only one that sticks out to me. |

| Episode 5 has also establishment of Luna into Tsukino family. Episode 7 has Mamoru actually following Usagi and beaming at her.
And completely ITA - manga and anime are separate entities with different canons. Most people prefer manga canon. but that doesn't mean that anime=manga + filler . You can't define "filler" as majority of episodes. Or as whole separate arc.
IMO the only filler episodes are the dinosaur and clip show in prologue of S. |

| I honestly do not remember a dinosaur episode. Was that something cut from the English dub? |

Yes it was. The plot was basically: Senshis at beach, Chibiusa meet the Lock Ness Monster's son. |

IMO the only filler episodes are the dinosaur and clip show in prologue of S. agreed with all of these! I'll add them in, Also the clip show is actually the end of R not the start of S, in addition to those two episodes there's the Sakiko episode in the first series thats a little bit actual filler-y episodes 10~12 added |

| I'm just doing this on an episode-to-episode basis, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it... I just meant it might be one because it didn't feature any of the villains of the series in it thats all... And in any case all episodes had some friendship development... its just a matter of distinguishing where its going to have an impact for future episodes or if its unique to that particular episode.
Episodes up to 17 added.

| Ami recalled the scene from the beach in R movie, so she finds it important for her relationship with Usagi.
In 15 we got a subtle hints that Usagi may be rather uncomfortable with Mamoru's dating Rei. 17 shows more of Mamoru's character and Usagi repeating his earlier words in her speech. |

| Hmm I know where you're coming from but I'm trying to not speculate too much, thats really a last resort. I see what you mean though, though in episode 15, Luna says that Usagi's just jealous of Rei, which she probably was since she stalked them through much of the episode... Will have to think on it. Episodes 18+19 added. |

| Well, the repetition of Mamoru's words by Usagi is canon fact, the speculation may be about her reason. Luna even notices this repetition, in case somebody missed it. So it seems to me that this is to be seen as development. |
