Sailor Tin Nyanko made her first musical appearance in “Sailor Stars” where she was portrayed by Tomomi Seo, she was disguised with her fellow Animamates as the High School Music Festival’s entry “666” (the number of the Beast). They called themselves “The Chou Very Bad Mates” and performed “It’s Chou Very Bad” (It’s So Very Bad). She performed the lines

Considering the rest of the song seems to be confusing nonsense statements, we shouldn’t read much into whatever the heck it’s supposed to mean. But perhaps she’s referencing her “Libyan” background from the manga? While singing, Nyanko also seemed to do some sort of tame version of headbanging. As an Animamate, she was led by Sailor Pewter Fox (Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Aluminum Seiren would not make their musical debuts for another seven years). The Animamates set out to cause an incident and force out the Sailor Senshi on Earth. Their first battle with the Sailor Senshi was unsuccessful due to interference by the Sailor Starlights. In this version, the Animamates had aided Galaxia in conquering 80% of the Galaxia. They also performed part of the songs “Star Hunter” and “Galaxia no Dokusai” (Galaxia’s Dictatorship). Later in the musical Sailor Tin Nyanko single-handedly took on Sailor Mars and Sailor Neptune and defeated them, though she gave the final blow to Sailor Galaxia all the while Usagi was forced to watch, unable to help. Tin Nyanko, along with the other members of the Shadow Galactica were ecstactic about collecting so many star seed so easily until Sailor Buttress told them to be quiet as they were all interrupting Galaxia’s thinking time. When Eternal Sailor Moon finally arrived and saved her friends at the end of the musical, Nyanko escaped alongside Galaxia.

In “Sailor Stars (Kaiteiban)”- Kaiteiban meaning “Revision”, Tin Nyanko was now played by Toni Hosokawa and her role remained largely unchanged. Though the song “It’s Chou Very Bad” held a more significant role, as in that song the Animamates captured Chibiusa during it. Nyanko’s scenes with Neptune and Mars were also more significantly influenced by the episodes featuring Mars and Neptune during the Nehellenia arc of the Sailor Stars anime. Again, Nyanko was so excited that she claimed she wanted to sing. Later during Eternal Sailor Moon’s battle with Sailor Galaxia, it seems the Animamates escaped although Galaxia seemed to be defeated, though this was not the case.

Tin Nyanko appeared for a final time in “Eien Densetsu” (Eternal Legend). She was still played by Toni Hosokawa. Her fellow Animamates, Pewter Fox and Iron Mouse were noticeably absent from the musical. However, Titanium Kerokko, now named Mitis Kerokko was still alongside her. The two disguised themselves as students of Juuban High School and helped to frame Rei as a stabber. Though it turned out just to be tomato sauce, Nyanko performed backup vocals in “Galaxia Gorgeous”. She was also in on Galaxia’s plan to manipulate Queen Beryl during the song “Tenkuu no Utage” (Banquet of the Sky) and openly mocked Kunzite and Zoisite’s failed plans and confronted Kyaosu when he suggested Nyanko and Kerokko’s plans weren’t that great either. Soon enough Sailor Tin Nyanko, Kerokko, Phi, Chi and Theta battled with the Guardian Senshi. Nyanko also told the girls that if they joined Galaxia’s side they get very nice bracelets. Once the Guardian Senshi had been killed, Galaxia battled Uranus and Neptune, Nyanko and Kerokko arrived asking if they could deliver the final blow though they were confronted by none other than Queen Beryl, Kunzite and Zoisite. Nyanko and Kerokko attacked Zoisite and Kunzite, who fought back, losing the two Animamates begged for help from Galaxia. Galaxia, annoyed at the weakness of her soldiers removed their bracelets and the last of the Animamates died.
Sailor Tin Nyanko's character did not return for "Eien Densetsu (Kaiteiban) - The Final First Stage and was not present among her fellow Animamates in “Starlights ~ Ryuusei Densetsu” or “Kakyuuouhi Kourin”.

Manga:

In the manga, Tin Nyanko arrives in act 53 (Stars 4) again as Nyanko Suzu, an transfer student from Libya into Usagi’s class. Nyanko proved to a be a little rude to students and constantly followed Usagi around trying to be friends. However, she was confronted by Luna and Artemis. Nyanko transformed in Sailor Tin Nyanko and Luna and Artemis transformed into humans. They accused her of being a “bakene” or “monster cat”, Nyanko retorted saying if she’s a monster cat, they must be too and attacked them with her “Galactica Puppet” attack. Announcing her name to Sailor Moon at last, Luna realized that Nyanko must be from the Planet Mau, they accused her own killing the planet’s senshi and Nyanko called Luna and Artemis the traitors for leaving Mau. Nyanko attacked Diana, turning her back into a cat and did the same to Artemis and Luna before Sailor Star Fighter turned up and attacked with “Star Serious Laser”. Nyanko fled back to Galaxia, who removed decided she did not need Tin Nyanko and removed her bracelet and Tin Nyanko was finally destroyed.

Anime:

Sailor Tin Nyanko (Nyanko being a cute term for a kitten) was the fourth and final of the Sailor Animamates making her first appearance in the shadows in episode 188, after Sailor Aluminum Seiren had been removed, Nyanko was partnered with a very displeased Sailor Lead Crow. Tin Nyanko took on a civilian guise called Nyanko Suzu (meaning Kitty Bell), an agent for Ginga TV. Tin Nyanko became very good at upsetting and irritating the usually calm and collected Crow. She was shown to be capable of more more underhanded methods to defeat the Sailor Senshi such as planning to sneak up and shoot Sailor Moon with her cat paw gun from behind. Tin Nyanko wasn’t shown going after targets of her own, although in episode 192, she did gag and tie up Lead Crow in a cupboard while she stole Crow’s target. When Crow did eventually find a true star seed, Tin Nyanko trapped Crow in a black hole, hoping to take the star seed to Galaxia herself. However the black hole sucked up both Crow and the crystal and Nyanko escaped before she could be caught to. After seeing Galaxia’s true face and failing to bring back a true seed, Nyanko resolved to work harder, disguising herself she stalked Usagi Tsukino until she was alone. Finally Sailor Moon and Sailor Tin Nyanko battled but due to the strength Sailor Moon’s “Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss” which broke one of Nyanko’s bracelets and purified half of her mind Tin Nyanko fld once again. Now confused between her true self and Galaxia’s control, Nyanko attacked the Sailor Senshi one last time after the Three Lights final concert, though Galaxia herself appeared, rendering Nyanko now useless, Galaxia removed the Animamates’s second bracelet, Nyanko disappeared leaving behind nothing but a bell.

I don't know why, but Tin Nyanko might be my favorite Animamate. She's only present for a short period in the manga, and she doesn't have as developed a character as Iron Mouse, Aluminum Siren, and Lead Crow; nevertheless, I find her strangely entertaining. Maybe it's the whole cat schtick; I can't be certain. She also drops a lot of cleavage in the anime.

It was interesting when she received the Two-Face treatment in the anime. I wonder how the writers decided to cook that one up, for the story if her character in the manga progresses without her half-healed by Eternal Sailor Moon. Our poor little tin kitty gets evaporated by Galaxia in either version, though.

She lasted longer than any of the other Animamates in the manga, if I recall correctly. Why did Naoko have to off the minions so quickly? When they had time for development, they were so much more interesting! Tin Nyanko, in the manga, ends up being from the Planet Mau, but aside from striking Luna and Artemis dumb, I don't recall much else being made from it. Her act was supposed to be really treacherous, yet we really only get an inkling of her treachery.

Oh, well. Here's to you, Sailor Tin Nyanko, one of favorite minor characters from Sailor Moon.

Probably because the anime was weekly and had the time, while the manga chapters had large time gaps in between and the story needed to hurry along there's no time for character development outside the main cast regrettably. Imagine three months on Nyanko's personality

It's probably more like the anime needed to fill time, so they dedicated more development to the Animamates than Takeuchi did. Overall, I say it's something of a shame, for the Animamates were a pretty nasty bunch in the manga and a product of power hungry individuals usurping Sailor Senshi.

I actually think they were running out of time in Sailor Stars, trying to not go over the 200 episode mark. Didn't you feel it was rushed, especially towards the end...

Oh, definitely. I don't they rushed the entirety of the season; only the final five or so episodes feel as though they were rushed along so as to avoid exceeding 200 episodes. It's hard to deny that there is still filler in Stars, even though it pales in comparison to SuperS.

The Animamates were also alot less developed in the anime than say the Ayakashi Sisters or the Witches 5... Thats why the SuperS musical is so good. I like the anime Amazon Trio but their arc goes on for WAY too long. (I think its the longest arc in the entire series!) but in the musical you get exactly the right dosage of the Trio and their antics.

The Animamates , especially Seiren got a bit of a raw deal in the musicals though...

The Ayakashi Sisters definitely received the most time appropriate development. There wasn't very much to develop with the Witches 5---they were all pretty nuts---and, as you said, the Amazon Trio received an incredible amount of screen time in the anime, though not necessarily for the better.

Aluminum Siren and Lead Crow had a relationship which permitted the focusing of more attention on their characters as opposed to Iron Mouse and, the patroness of this thread, Tin Nyanko. I don't know enough about the musicals to comment upon them, but I do know they added several Animamates (Pewter Fox and Titanium Kerokko). That might have increased the difficulty in developing the original group of Animamates further, since there are simply more characters.

I know the anime producers tried to add more with Siren and Lead Crow being rivals/friends and Tin Nyanko getting half-blasted by Eternal Sailor Moon. In the latter case, however, you couldn't explore the situation much beyond what they eventually did.

Actually alot of Nyanko's episodes revolved around her own relationship.. or lack of relationship with Lead Crow.

Like I said in the original post if you'd actually read the musical section . [sorry for making it so long, but there are three nyanko myus] Lead Crow and Aluminum Seiren waited another seven years before their debuts and were replaced by Titanium Kerokko and Pewter Fox. No extra characters, just replacements.

Derp. That's what I get for not reading directions. My mistake! I feel really bad for having not read that in depth.

Nyanko and Lead Crow kind of had a relationship, although it was normally Tin Nyanko making some kind of snide remark about Siren or how she would win Galaxia's favor. Ultimately, their biggest moment is when Lead Crow eats a mouthful of black hole thanks to Nyanko trying to steal all the glory. That might be one of the nastier backstabs on the anime, although Rubeus being left to burn to death and Eudial having her breaks cut are pretty hard to beat.

Come to think of it, the villains tend to betray each other with greater frequency in the anime than they do in the manga, and it isn't always by order of the big bad (e.g., Zoisite backstabs Nephrite by his own accord, not Beryl's).

I'm just teasing honey, I don't really mind. Thats just me amusing myself with seramyu X3 you dont have to read it. The main interesting point is that, although all the Animamates escaped with Galaxia at the end of Sailor Stars. Iron Mouse and Pewter Fox are missing from the sequel but Nyanko and Kerokko were present. Perhaps they went against Galaxia?

Don't forget about Tellur "pulling the plug" on Mimete?

Personally... Rubeus deserved it for smashing Koan's cologne.

I think the Sailor Animamates are alongside the Witches 5 as the nastiest group of villains in Sailor Moon. They're still my favourites though XD

The Tellur betrayal of Mimete is not one to be forgotten. I remembered it, but I decided not to list it for reasons known to no one.

The Animamates and Witches 5 have to be the most unstable and dysfunctional villainous teams in the series. Even the Amazoness Quartet stuck together in spite of their horrendous shenanigans.

Not to be glib, but after reading through the synopsis of Tin Nyanko's role Sera Myu, it seems kind of funny that the team of Shadow Galactica ran off at the end of at least two of the musicals. It reminds me of a typical Saturday morning cartoon villain; I now want a drawing of a disheveled Galaxia, with Sailor Animamates in tow, shaking her fist at the Sailor Senshi as she retreats.

Or maybe I'm being excessively silly.

The Cat Paw Gun: So useful, she only uses it once.

Well what happened is that in "Sailor Stars" Galaxia got a full blast of "Starlight Honeymoon Double Therapy Kiss" and was too weak to go away, so she retreated. Flying off stage laughing. A similar thing happened in "Starlights ~ Ryuusei Densetsu". I just thought it wasn't quite relevant for a Tin Nyanko thread, after all Tin Nyanko didn't appear in Starlights.

I wished in the anime of Stars they brought up her background. It would been neat to see her actual planet in flashback or something.
