Does anyone have any theories as to why it looks so much like Usagi's brooch with a similar crystal?

Galaxia's brooch is a gem with a sunburst pattern of gold and accenting gems.

I think you're talking about Sailor Moon's original brooch, right?

We could always chalk it up to coincidence. I think it could have been a deliberate part on Takeuchi's. Galaxia in essence is the opposite of Sailor Moon. It could be symbolic in that she never had friends to guide her along a journey. She never grew like Sailor Moon did. That's just a theory though.

Yes, the original brooch.

The anime sort of goes out of its way to present Galaxia as an alternate future Sailor Moon (Chibi Chibi being her Star Seed...), but upon reflecting on it last night, I came to think that she was meant to be seen as an anti-christ-esque figure. 

I'm not sure how many people on the forum are from Christian backgrounds, but some of the associated imagery with Usagi's mission in relation to Galaxia could be seen as an allusion to Christianity. However, I'm not so sure if Naoko really drew much from the Christian tradition, but I digress.

Does the Saffer Crystal actually rival the Silver Crystal (and by extension the Golden Crystal)? Is that originally her crystal, or did that belong to Chaos?

Usagi does have many Messianic triats about her (heck, she's even called the Messiah in the Infinity/S arc) and I can see the Antichrist traits in both Sailor Galaxia and Sailor Saturn.

Galaxia wanted to be the no.1 senshi, reason why she started to remove every senshi star seed...if i recall the manga correctly, my guess is, maybe her original brooch wasn't like that, but kept evolving until it looked like that, since she already removed so many star seeds.

A crazy theory here   but it makes things interesting.

So whereas Usagi's strength grew through peaceful means, Galaxia's strength grew on the basis of destruction.

Still, something about that seems strange, no? 

The Sapphire brooch reflects a parallel quartet of allied senshi with the four gems around it.

Yellow = Aluminium Siren = Venus

Blue = Iron Mouse = Mercury

Green = Tin Nyanko = Jupiter

Red = Lead Crow = Mars

That said, I just noticed that the Eternal brooch has ChibiUsa's pink crystal, which I just noticed corresponds to the pink prism/crystal on Usagi's original brooch. I wonder if they're one and the same crystal? After all, I've heard that the Pink Crystal and Silver Crystal of the future are very different crystals.

So that would mean by  the anime's logic, it evolved normally as she became stronger and stronger but without the evil intent. She just happened to be the strongest when chaos took her over. I really like your theory!

Well, they kind are different.
Small lady's crystal was born from her, even tho she "absorbed" neo queen serenity's silver crystal...later we find out that is called pink crystal. if i recall correctly we find this info around...the amazon quartet arc...or was it before?

I don't quite understand the situation with the future Silver Crystal, the Pink Crystal and its relationship to the line of Serenity.

Considering how ChibiUsa was conceived by natural means and wasn't born of Crystal power in that manner that Usagi-Serenity was (Refer to Act 52 of the manga) of Queen Serenity, I wonder whether another power source was created in addition to her eventually (that we know of) inheriting the Silver Crystal.
