Well, I admit it, the 90s anime is the version I prefer of SailorMoon, even if I like the others, too, especially the manga.
Anyway, about the two blondes of the senshi, I always liked the difference thay had in the classic anime:
Usagi's hair are blonde, a blonde which is a little darker than Minako's blonde.
I like this choose, like if it would be too obvious the main character to be the mmmost ...of everything. Most powerful, most pure... even the most light blonde =P
Instead, I think the most light blonde suits Minako really well, more than Usagi.
She is the goddes of beauty and she is adorable like that! I think the very light blonde hair suits her





in many images they can have also like the same blonde:
the manga itself and the artbook does so, if I remember well! but not Usagi's hair lighter than Mina's or Minako's darker than Usagi...

I am too used to this and I like the Usagi's hair little darker than Minako's, or at least the same blonde... but, even in the fanarts (or in Crystal itself XD) when I see Usagi with a lighter blonde than Minako's, or Minako's blonde darker than Usagi's, it sounds always strange to me, cannot get used to it :3

I noticed that too. Though in Crystal, it seems like they made Usagi's lighter. Plus they made Minako's eye colour more violet to differentiate between the two more easily.

Eh, I always thought they were the same. Took until this thread for me to notice lol.

It seems that in Crystal they made Serenity's hair even lighter than Usagi's ^__*

Apparently they look so similar in Crystal that Toei decided to give Usagi Minako's hair in the Blu Ray

From what I remember hearing some where, is Minako is suppose to look similar to Usagi/Serenity because if anything should happen, she is suppose to act as a decoy for her. You see this in the manga and in Crystal where Sailor V is acting more like the Princess while looking for the Crystal and secretly looking for the real Princess and I remember one episode in the 90s anime where she looked like Sailor Moon when Usagi couldn't transform.

I kinda like how Usagi's hair is lighter than Minako in Crystal. I feel like it reflects her purity and innocence.

Thats what it turned into I think, being that Naoko made her a Princess Decoy. However, since our lovely Vbabe was the first and original Sailor Soldier, I think its safe to say the whole idea of having her look like Usagi came after. More like, well I designed Usagi with similar features, lets make Venus be a decoy as leader of the Princess's Guardians.

Even without the hair thing thought, there are similarities between their features at least in the 90s anime xD

I love Usagi's design but I don't know why they thought silver hair wouldn't stand out.  If anything, it would stand out more because blonde hair blue eyed girls are a dime a dozen. ^^;;

I think it's color-wise. Yellow is more attention-grabbing than white, is all.

o.O have you ever been to Japan? Everyone has very dark hair and generally brown eyes... blonde hair girls only exist if they dye their hair (hence all the wacky colored anime hair dos cause its just different than the norm and makes it stand out). SM was not created with an international audience in mind originally. At its root and core, its a very japanese oriented series.

if I remember well, they were examinating hair through a machine/computer : D

Hm... honestly I've never noticed or really cared about comparing the two blondes! In my headcanon Usagi is a very light/pale blonde so it's a little strange to me now that it's been pointed out as her having darker hair in the anime! lol
