| Starring: SubmarineViolinTide as Sailor Neptune/Kaiou Michiru Miss Moon Rose as Sailor Uranus/Ten'o Haruka
Valentine’s Day Punch! Michiru and Haruka are, for a lack of better words, fed up with each other. As of late, the two cannot make distinct the lines between their professional and personal lives - or, at least, Haruka can’t. Michiru seems to be tired of her girlfriend’s excessive dedication. Although their duty is, first and foremost, to protect this world, Michiru is starting to question whether the balance between soldier and sweetheart can be maintained. Haruka, on the other hand, feels that Michiru's determination and drive is not enough. When the fate of the entire population rests on their hands, there is no time to stand down. Will the two of them call it off so close to Valentine’s Day?
Notes: This story takes place during the Infinity arc, sometime before the Inner Guardians discover Uranus and Neptune. They are both students at Mugen Academy, having easily infiltrated their ranks with their astonishing talents. Michiru and Haruka share an apartment together. This story is primarily based on the manga with some creative liberties.
“Deep Submerge!”
A sovereign wave emerged from the corridor, shattering every window in its wake and creating a beautiful smattering of water and scintillating shards of broken glass. The force behind it was none other than the Soldier of Affinity, the elegant Sailor Neptune. Even in her sailor’s uniform, with the skirt slightly battered and white armor weakened, she looked nothing short of amazing. Like a princess out of a fairy tale. Her eyes were narrowed into turquoise slits, determinedly staring down her assailant before glancing towards her partner. Uranus was, as she always was, more sprightly than Michiru; even if the Neptunian had told her a thousand times - “Uranus, pay attention!” This time, the soldier of the skies flitted past Neptune, her shimmering sword so close that Michiru’s reflection was clear in it’s blade. As fortune would have it, Michiru was swift enough to evade both blade and monster, swinging her leg up and around with such force that it knocked the enemy beneath her. Wordlessly and simultaneously, the soldiers executed punishing blows to the back of the enemies head. Rendering it unconscious, if not completely incapacitated.
There was only the sound of panting in the silence that followed. Sailor Neptune regained her composure, rising her to feet and smoothing her gloved fingers along her skirt. It was not until then that she noticed how beaten they were. Her legs were covered in a smattering of bruises, her gloves scraped up to the wrist. “That’s the third daimon this week.” her voice was slow and smooth, like undisturbed water. “The enemy is getting restless. The God of Destruction must be near.” She exchanged glances with Haruka momentarily, noticing the malice left lingering in her lover’s eyes. Michiru shook her head, as if to indicate something to the other soldier, but it was without merit. No sooner had the words left her mouth, Uranus was atop of the still unmoving enemy with her blade brandished. Her fury was apparent. “Haruka, please!” Their job had been completed, what good would it do them to potentially kill a civilian? Why not wait for her to summon her mirror at least, to determine if this soul was worth saving.
Sailor Neptune grabbed for Uranus’ arm, to stop her blade from crashing down and bringing about premature death. She was used to Haruka’s outburst. Her boyish show of strength and solitude. Especially in these last few weeks, with destruction growing nearer, the fate of the universe at it’s precipe. Michiru felt it too - they had been reborn too late, the enemy had already invaded Earth. They failed their princess, they failed at their duties. Michiru was used to this solemn feeling, like rock in one’s heart. But what she wasn’t used to was Haruka snapping back - just as she reached to stop the other woman, her lover’s hand whipped about her own. Squeezing Neptune’s wrist as violently as she would an opposer. In the heat of it all, one of them gasped - Michiru couldn’t tell if it was her or Haruka, for her eyes were so intently focused and her mind lost somewhere faraway... Uranus let go, immediately apologetic. However, as far as Michiru was concerned, the damage was done.

| Sailor Uranus felt like she was flying as she sprinted from one point to another, blade in hand. Her sword felt light and flexible in her grip, able to be twirled and maneuvered any way Uranus commanded it to. She was in her element, dancing on the wind and flying across the pavement. She carefully watched Neptune's movements, making sure to keep her body moving in sync with her partner's. Neptune knew Uranus's battle style, and Uranus knew Neptune's. They were the perfect team. Although recently, it had seemed that their status of perfection had been...degenerating. With a frustrated grunt, Sailor Uranus reacted to Neptune's demands and turned to assist her comrade in beating their enemy unconscious. All of Uranus's frustration was vented in through her fists, releasing and becoming the pain of her foe. It felt good - great, even. It took all of her strength to stop and breathe. She panted heavily, not realizing how exhausted she was until then. Standing straight, Uranus gazed at her partner, taking in her cuts and bruises. It was all the soldier of winds could do not to embrace Sailor Neptune and tend to her wounds. Seeing Neptune this way was angering, and Uranus clenched her blade tighter in her hands. She was ready to kill this enemy ruthlessly. Again, Neptune's voice stopped her. Damn it, could she do what she wanted just once?! Without even thinking, Uranus jerked and grabbed Neptune's wrist, holding it tightly. As soon as it had happened, Sailor Uranus immediately let go and took a step back. What had she done? "I...I'm sorry," the blonde soldier said, her eyes apologetic. "I just wish you wouldn't dictate me so often. These," Uranus paused, pointing at the enemy for emphasis, "are not human. These are enemies, and we must do whatever it takes to get them off of this planet. Sacrifices need to be made, Neptune. You know that." |
