Earlier I was browsing through Amazon in search of a cheap volume of the original Japanese manga. I stumbled across a set of the entire 18 volumes for $1.01. The image was only of the 18th volume, but the title made it clear that all 18 volumes were being sold. The seller had near perfect ratings and had been established quite some time ago, so I thought, hey why not and purchased the lot. Considering there was no other listing for the 18th volume in Japanese (or English?) I'm thinking maybe this was a mistake made on the seller's part and they were only selling the 18th volume. Perhaps they saw the picture and filed a listing without actually reading the title.

Even if it is only the 18th volume it's still a pretty good deal in my opinion, so I'm happy either way. Though if they seriously sell me the entire 18 volumes for such a small amount I'm going to be astonished. What do you guys, think though?

+ a bonus question for SM collectors: What are your favourite SM items to collect?  

Sailor Moon is a pretty old series. It's not a collector item like it would be in the west. In japan, those things are kind of easy to find. Even the old edition. I think you can trust this seller. (My experience with buying stuff from japanese sellers consist solely of mangas and artbooks, so I might not be the most reliable source, though)

You should contact them and ask them if they are really selling all 18 books. Worst case scenario, they will think you're a bit annoying.

As for my favourite kind of collector items, that would be artbooks :B They are pretty cheap and the content is always so beautiful!

My favorite thing to collect would have to be the DVDs. I finally have the rare Heart Collection and Pegasus Collection, which is the gem of my anime collection.

Where are you getting the artbooks for cheap? Directly from japan? I haven't done any research but I heard they are quite expensive now. I fully regret not buying them 15 years ago when I was young and had the money for them. So if I could find them now at an un-inflated  price that would be fantastic.

I agree, the manga art books are expensive... I think they were more expensive a year ago, but now prices for the normal volumes have dropped, but the infinity book has skyrocketed from $800 to almost $1000 on yja. I regret selling mine to pay off my college tuition... because now they are just so hard to find in mint condition w/ obis AND the cd papers! I'm trying to collect them all again.  Price for the infinity book though is getting ridiculous...

I'm really amazed at how prices have changed since 1 year ago. I think they are all out of wack ever since the new release of the anime. =/

I reallllly want the art books, but I don't think I'll ever have the money for them. Maybe the pink one with Sailor Moon and Chibiusa on the cover because that seems to be the cheapest, but I'm also afraid of accidentally wasting my money on a bootleg

I like collecting the dolls and cards.

I have the first 2 art books, I think I paid around 60$ for each from a sweet lady in a small bookshop in Chiba when I was there a few years ago. She was adorable. I've gotten pretty lucky with SM merch looking in small/family owned book and toy shops while in Japan. One guy gave me a bunch of stuff for free when I bought like two things once, after he saw how excited I was to find SM stuff... One of the little gashapon/figure sets he gave me is apparently (according to someone here, forget who) an older, rare bandai set. I had no idea. I haven't bought too much merch online though, i'm always worried about scams/bootlegs. 


Anyway, favorite stuff ATM to collect are the artbooks, manga, and gashapon. I've been holding off on buying stuff lately though.

i have the Cutie Moon Rod Proplica, the 2011 Moon Stick, the limited edition Silver Crystal (the one from the R movie premier),a badly beaten up 2011 Star Locket thing, 2 bootleg gashapons, the Viz dub dvd, an SMC bento box, the entire manga +short stories and both Codename Sailor V volumes and a Chibi Moon badge

My favourite things to collect are the RPG toy's and DVD's (i reaally want the Materials Collection artbook but it's so expensive)

I have a VHS of the Sailor Moon R film, the first new Viz dub DVD, the Sailor V manga and most of the Sailor Moon manga (still need to get the second bonus story one.) I also have both sets of Sailor Moon stickers that you get when buying the manga in two sets, and a Sailor Moon plush doll.

What I'd love to have more of is plush dolls, accessories and t-shirts. Also the artbooks.

I have a legit figure. Sailor Mars and bootleg chibi moon and moon. I'd like to collect way more. I love the compact gashapons. Might splurge for em on payday.
