| I have been wanting to make this thread for so long but between school and thinking that I would just be alone on this topic, I held back. But thanks to our lovely Apple Stardust, I am finally making it! I adore this show. Which is so odd for me because I stay away from anything concerning CW or teens ot vampires -- too much drama and hollywood-ized for my tastes. I saw the posters and it looked like it was about a slutty girl and modelesque boys and I could not help but think how shallow and I stayed away. But then I started seeing all of these screencaps and gifs and I was mesmerized by how beautiful these characters were -- I did not even know which show they were from! I started watching The Vampire Diaries now and I am frightened by how emotionally involved that I have become! I am obsessed, horribly so. >_< But as you had said, Apple, it has other elements to it than just being a vampire show. First of all, in episode 2? I think? one of the vampire characters, Damon, makes a comment on Twilight and sparkly Edward and remarks that Anne Rice is the only one who got it right in depicting vampires. I just about exploded out of my seat because that is what I have been saying for years. lol. I do very much like TVD's depiction of vampires -- it works and I feel is realistic and not the cliche hollywood type or at least too overdone, you know? Also, the show has a lot of depth and a really good story line! I was so surprised. It starts off a bit like another teen show, with a teen crush and girls who dresses like models when going to high school but it certainly does not stay that shallow way. Relationships between characters (romantic ones) are quite steady and people are not breaking up with one another for the boredom of it and then getting back together and all that nonsense. There is beautiful character development as well. Damon, for example, starts off as one-dimensional. Ian Somerhalder plays his smug character quite well but then he starts to add layers of different facial emotions and voice inflections and I know that for me, I became enthralled with him. I also like the female lead, Elena! She is not this self-righteous individual who looks down on others, nor is she full of herself; she is not unrealistically fearless but also is not the damsel-in-distress. Her courage slowly builds throughout the series and it is refreshing. Ah, I have too much to say. But I hope there are others besides Apple Pie and myself who watch this show. |

| I absolutely adore that show! I had read the first couple of book already when the show started and I had to see how it was going to turn out! Now, in my opinion, the show is so much better than the books. The characters are completely different people, and the plot; don't even get me started. lol Anyways I was so excited to watch last night's episode but couldn't because I ended up doing homework from 5 to about 2 in the morning. BOO HIGH SCHOOL. So NO spoilers! And trust me, you get to know the characters so well, you actually feel for them and think they are a close friend and it makes you hurt when they hurt, and I've wanted to cry a few times (although I'm a teenage girl...haha) The show is just amazing. Have you caught up on all the seasons yet? |

| YAY! <3 Finally we get to share the love. Once I'm caught up with the show I will follow your blog and tumbl all about VD! <3
Again, I LOOOVE the fact it uses traditional vampire mannerisms, such as not being able to walk into a living human's house unless they grant specific permission to. Little things like that do a lot for me. I also love how Damon was making fun of Twilight, it was hilarious to me. (Please, no offense to anyone who does like Twilight; we don't hate you!)
I love the fact they're still in high school and they made it as well as they did, like you said not trashy and "slutty" with the main girl being overly focused on herself. It's believable, especially giving Elena's circumstances! Bah, the show has honestly made me cry at the end of a few episodes.
I especially love how much they go into the local history, and a lot about the civil war. (History nerd, you must forgive me!)
Also, Sam, I wanted to read the books! But I know they were written in the early 90s, and from what I heard not as great as the show. |

| They definitely are a lot different than the show. If you want to read them forget everything you watched on the show; they are that different. I mean, they are both good, but the show just interests me more. The characters in the book were similar except for Elena. Oh man, Elena takes a turn for the worse. I won't ruin it for you if you want to read the books though; just remember to bring an open mind |

| So I've been hearing about this show and True Blood (i add in TB cause well its vampires too) a lot. I've kinda wanted to steer away from vampire stuff because it seems to be the "popular" thing right now and when that happens...well yeah you get stuff like Twilight. Lol.
But I've seen an ep of True Blood and was intrigued, and I've been seeing stuff about Vampire Diaries too. I guess I must now check it out (i also saw it was on netflix so yeah). If I can convince my bf to watch an ep, i'll let y'all know what I think. |

| I love this show! However I am getting tired of the Hiatus BS stuff now. We finally got it back and then they took it away again :*( I love Damian he is a sexy beast. My Fiance gave me the books to read and since watching the show I can not get into the books. The show is so much better. :3 |

| shi no shi? Well they leave it only because its not apart of their story line or if they do it comes in at a different time. For some reason I just can't get into the books. I've tried lol. |

| Hee. That means that you would have to kill Nina and she is too adorable to be killed. I am losing my mind watching these last few episodes. I do not know who is going to die and when and who the next brother it will be that Elena kisses!! I almost wish I could know the finale so I can enjoy these next remaining episodes. XD |

| AJHAJHAHGFAAFG I am so nervous about tonight! The anticipation is killing me. I have a feeling that the writers are going to be cruel to Damon once again and leave him out in the cold. Meh.
The previous episode was really good. Someone... had a big role change. You should see it before tonight! |
