I started watching a few episodes of Super yesterday, and today I got to Serena's birthday.

Wherein Amara proceeds to say "If Darien isn't your boyfriend, maybe I should pick him up. He's the perfect height for me and we both love to ride motorcycles"

And cue my death because I had completely forgotten about that scene and it's hysterical. (it still looks like she's hitting on Serena at the same time, so bravo for that)

'Talent' Bwahahaha! That one is a classic. I personally love all of the awkward "cousin" references, especially the one where Ami says really quickly and awkwardly, "THEY'REGIRLSANDCOUSINSTOO!"

My boyfriend and I were watching and making fun of the dub recently. Every episode that we watched had so many really weird/stupid quotes and scenes. Here are a couple quotes that I can remember.

"My blooms will prove their petals have got some metal!" -Tellu
Tellu stop, please.

"Gee... I... I wonder if our target... knows the words to Twinkle Twinkle. If so, he should be forced to sing it. Hehe...heheh...HAHAHAHAHAH!" -Tomoe
All I can say is uh... what, Professor Tomoe? He says that to himself in the one episode with the star-shaped daimon.

"Mmm...TASTY." -That one movie star guy to Mimete. (It is the way he says it as he tries the frosting on her cupcakes.)

Poor Umino got the blunt end of the stick. Worst voice and even worse lines. At least they still maintained his nerd personality...sorta.

I remember the old dub used to never get the termnilogy right. Sometimes they were after the Purity Chalice, sometimes the Purity Force, sometimes it was the Sovereign of Silence, sometimes the Purity Princess.  And remember the Bureau of Bad Behavior?  Then there's all the attack names they got wrong.  Like I remember one time they called Jupiter Thunder Crash "Jupiter Thunder Power!"

Oh my goodness, yes! There are so many things they just couldn't keep straight. Charm Buster randomly was changed to 'Stage Fright' in one episode. The characters also pronounced names (such as Hotaru) inconsistently.

And remember the "Imperium Silver Crystal"?

Oh man, yes...  Didn't they also randomly switch the monster-of-the-week terminology from Heart Snatchers to Daimons to Heart Snatchers to Demone? It was all so confusing, but it is kind of funny now! I remember being so confused by all of this as a kid. When my brother, neighbor, and I played 'Sailor Moon,' we would give up trying to follow the show's plot/terminology and be all "welp, let's just pretend to be Dr. Tomoe and the Witches in their lab." Then we'd go make up scientific bs to do--like taking all of the liquids from the fridge, mixing them together, and then making somebody drink it. Good times... Good times...

I still remember the first time the DiC dub actually used the term Sailor Soldiers and being shocked they kept it for that episode.

Wasn't the 'Sailor Soldiers' one in the Viluy episode or was there another mention of the term before that? I just went through most of the S dub episodes on VHS recently and specifically remember Viluy bursting through the door shouting something like, "You idiots! She's a Sailor Soldier!" I was equally as shocked because the next episode after that didn't use the term.

If I recall correctly, the first time they used the Sailor Soldiers term in the old dub was in the episode where Serena and Darien got back together again in the R season.

The whole cousin thing struck me as unnecessary and somewhat homophobic of Cloverway.  I understand that times were different back then and so they had to censor the homosexuality to get it on American TV but there were less ridiculous ways they could have handled it.  All they really needed to do was cut out the scenes of them holding hands and they could have passed them off as having a deep friendship or something.  It's not like they ever actually kissed on the show any so I doubt most kids would have picked up on it.  But speaking as a gay Sailor Moon fan, I always found this logic that kids finding out gay people exist will somehow confuse and damage them to be silly and if not a little offensive to everyone with common sense.   It's not like the world ended when kids found out Dumbledore was gay in Harry Potter.  And just about everyone who grew up with the show knows about Haruka and Michiru being gay and most everyone are cool with it.  Was anyone ever actually fooled by this?  The irony was even though they went through the trouble of making them cousins and having them call each other that in every other line in the show, they still left in almost all the scenes of them holding hands.

This is a national treasure and must be protected

I don't know if there's a clip available of it but does anyone else remember that scene from the dub of the R movie where they're landing on the asteroid and Mars attacks with her Fire Soul but she's all "Not if I can help it POWWWW!"  I don't know why but even when I was a dubbie I thought that scene was a bit goofy in the dub.
