And now to add to my collection 6 VHS of the dubbed anime of SM. Whee! I was walking through Goodwill and spotted them on a lonely little shelf. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Maybe someone can tell me which ones I have. It doesn't have episode numbers, just titles.

So, pretty darned awesome that you have pretty much the entire series summed up on these tapes! You've got all the episodes that introduce Serena(1), Amy(5), Raye(7), Lita(21) and Mina(29) to the scene, the two-parter where she figures out who Tuxedo Mask is and they find out she's the moon princess(30 + 31), the flashback to the moon episode and the last episode (39+40)... and then two random ones somewhere in the middle that involve only Serena, Raye and Amy (9 and 14)

XD It's like the series, abridged! "Whaaa? You wanna watch season one in as little episodes as possible?! GOT YOU COVERED."

Yeah, I was pretty stoked when I saw them. I couldn't believe it, and I had a feeling they were all of the "important" episodes of the first season. This makes me happy. And they were only 99c a piece!

Ok Seceret Identities (i have this one) has A Crystal Clear Destiny and A Reluctant Princess on them. That's episode 30 of the dub or 34 "The Sparkling Silver Crystal! The Moon Princess Appears" of the sub and episode 31 of the dub or 35 "Memories Return! Usagi and Mamoru's Past" of the sub.

Good Queen Bad Queen (i have this one too!) has The Past Returns and Day of Destiny, which are the final two episodes of the dub.

The Past Returns is episode 39 of the dub or 44 "Usagi's Awakening! A Message from the Distant Past" of the sub.

Day of Destiny is the finale, episode 40. It is a combination of episodes 45 "The Sailor Warriors Die! The Tragic Final Battle" and 46 "Usagi's Everlasting Wish! A New Reincarnation" from the sub. To this day I still wish they hadn't cut out so much of the original episode. When you compare the two...oh man, the original is just so much more impactful. /cough anyway.




Evil Eyes has episodes Cruise Blues and Shutter Bugged. Cruise Blues is episode 9 of the dub and episode 12 "I Want a Boyfriend, Too! A Trap on a Luxury Cruise Ship" of the sub. Shutter Bugged is episode 14 of the dub and 17 "Is Usagi a Model? The Focus of the Monster Camera" of the sub. Why it has a picture of Venus on the VHS tape? I don't know because she hasn't even shown up yet. o.O;

Jupiter and Venus Arrive has episodes Jupiter Comes Thundering In and Sailor V Makes the Scene. Jupiter Comes Thundering In is episode 21 of the dub and 25 "Jupiter, the Brawny Girl in Love" of the sub. Sailor V Makes the Scene is 29 of the dub and 33 "The Last Sailor Warrior, Sailor Venus Appears" of the sub.





A Moon Star is Born (I'm pretty sure I've got this one too XD) has episodes A Moon Star is Born and Talk Radio which are episodes 1 and 2 of the Dub. Respectively A Moon Star is Born is 1 "Crybaby Usagi's Magnificent Transformation" of the sub too. Talk Radio is episode 3 "Mysterious Sleeping Illness, Protect the Girls' Hearts in Love" of the sub. They completely cut out the original episode 2 in the original English dub. This is due to the censorship of some of the stuff that happens in the episode. Basically Melvin and some of the boys at school turning into delinquents and even flipping up their teacher's skirt. OH GOD FORBID! XD

Scouts Unite has the episodes Computer School Blues and An Uncharmed Life. Computer School Blues is episode 5 of the dub and episode 8 "Is the Genius Girl a Monster? Brainwashing School of Terror" of the sub. An Uncharmed Life is episode 7 of the dub and 10 "Cursed Buses! Fire Warrior Mars Appears" of the sub. I think the episode title in the Japanese version is way better. Fire Warrior Mars! Rawr!

So collectively you have episodes 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, 21, 29, 30, 31, 39, and 40 of the dub. I think the reason these VHS tapes were released like this because at that time whenever a cartoon was released on home video they would never release the episode in order and itd only be a few of them. The original Pokemon VHS releases were the same. I think they figure it didn't matter to kids which order they were in, they would watch them anyway (and thinking on it, totally true. I didn't care, i could watch Sailor Moon anytime I wanted now). But, ADV later rereleased the Dic dub on VHS where the tapes were in proper order. This was during the Cloverway dub release of S and SuperS, they released episodes of S and SuperS on VHS as well and they even had VHS's that were the "uncut" Sailor Moon episodes. I guess basically it had all the same dub dialogue, but they kept in whatever stuff had to be censored for television. I think Haruka and Michiru were still cousins regardless of it being the "uncut" VHS releases. Oh! And there was also as boxset release of the Doom Tree arc as well. I always wanted it. They sold it at Suncoast, but it was always waaay to expensive. My mom would never buy it for me. T_T

Oh no boo, I grabbed all my VHS stuff way before moving out of that house was a thought. ^_^ And besides, my mom allowed me to go through my room before they chose to do anything and would have asked. Speaking of which, i looked through my VHSs and this is what I have.

Dic releases: Scouts Unite, Secret Identities, and Good Queen Bad Queen
ADV release: 1 vhs with first 4 dub eps on it
Pioneer's Sailor Moon S uncut release with the first 4 eps of the S dub. Which keeps the original japanese titles of the episodes, but dub part uses all the english names, lol.
Pioneer's releases of the Sailor Moon Movies: R, S, and SuperS english dub. I also have an official sub of the R movie that was released by Pioneer.

I'd have to say out of all my vhs's, Secret Identities, Good Queen Bad Queen, and my two R movies got the most watches out of them. I still go back and watch my VHSs every once in a while. I even took a bunch of our Disney movies!

Where in the world did that artwork come from? O.o I have never seen it before (the art on the covers, I mean).

I believe it was art made specifically for those VHSs. Buena Vista was the one that did the VHS release if i am correct. They were distributed under Buena Vista Home Video. Its on the tape box. I don't know if that means they hired an artist for the art or if Dic hired an artist. Its not the best art, but I think the cover for Secret Identities is really nice. The drawing of Princess Serenity is really well done.
