So, here's the story.

Way back when, Sailor Moon was mainly my "Sick at Home" show, given that I wasn't apt to do much else. After that, I did end up taking up an interest, what with the fact that Toonami was actually airing many, many new episodes, plus the fact that I was friends with people who were also watching it- it was something I considered fair play, as she also watched Dragon Ball Z, but in taking up Sailor Moon I think I got the better part of the trade.

More recently, as I became aware of the fact that the whole series had been fansubbed, I decided to watch all 200 episodes at a go. While it may not have been the greatest of ideas to do it all at once in a great, colorful, sparkle-laden binge, I can't really say that I regret it either, as there was more than enough to like. So, in searching for Moon forums that were still active, I managed to end up hereabouts.

So, that's about it, really.

1.) No, I haven't seen any of the live-action stuff, but I'm sure it's easy enough to find.

B.) Favorite senshi? Probably Ami/Mercury. She made quite an impression because many of the depictions of the more studiously inclined in Western media from the '80s to the '90s (and perhaps still)  were very much more 'laugh at' than 'laugh with'. Ami was something much, much different in that particular vein and role. The one-use "Sympathy for the Devil" stamp goes to Saphir, the only sane man finding himself in an increasingly insane situation.

how excited are you about the new anime?

Pretty excited, honestly. There's been a really good record of remakes/adaptations of older material coming out of the industry lately, and it;s at a length where I feel comfortable with sticking it out for the duration.

Well, first off, I'm glad that we finally have one, even though trying to guess the quality of the finished product based on trailers is a fool's errand. I was fine with what I saw, but I do wish there was more preview to it. It's a bit late in the game to put out just one of that kind of preview for the remake of such of a beloved property so close to air date. By this time in the process, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 2012 had something like three different trailers (teaser, one for Phantom Blood, one for Battle Tendencies), and Yamato 2199 not only had far more substantial previews, but even a preview that was the first 10 minutes of the first episode.

Considering that the goods they're flogging is a remake of one of the most beloved anime properties worldwide, you'd think that they'd be stepping up their game this close to Midnight on the Moonsday Clock.

I would actually say, as above, that it's Saphir- he's a sane man in an increasingly insane situation, and is the only guy in the Black Moon Clan that's actually trying to get any real work done while everyone else is conspiring to CRUSH FLASH GORDON SAILOR MOON!.

He's also probably the one wondering if anyone else had noticed that their new advisor doesn't really have any skin, just a swirling kaleidoscope pattern.
