Hello World Fair Attendees!
Welcome to Chicago!
-----------------------------------------------
About;
On August 12, 1833, the Town of Chicago was organized with a population of around 200. Within seven years it would grow to a population of over 4,000. On June 15, 1835, the first public land sales commenced with Edmund chibi Taylor as U.S. receiver of public moneys. The City of Chicago was incorporated on Saturday, March 4, 1837 and went on to become the fastest growing city in the world for several decades. Many of the migrants that resided in Chicago were Germans, Irish, Poles, Swedes and Czechs. The population of the city right now is 2.7 million.

Great Chicago Fire
In 1871 a fire broke out at a small farm that ended up consuming 3.3 square miles and killing 300 people. A lot of theories go around on how the fire started but the famous one is one of the cows in the farm kicked a lantern over.
Here is a lovely picture of a map that shows the area the fire effected. The red dot is where the farm was.
The fire lasted close to two days
Click this link to see a panorama from the city after the fire.

Art;
There is a lot of art all around downtown Chicago that famous artist made! My favorite to go see is Cloud Gate [or The Bean] created by Anish Kapoor. It is located at Millennium Park
My second favorite is Four Seasons which is a mosaic by Marc Chagall. It is a total of 70 feet long, 14 feet high, and 10 feet wide. This is located in Chase Tower Plaza in the Loop District.
Lastly I wanted to share with you Flamingo which was created by Alexander Calder and is a 53 foot tall painted steel stabile and located in front of the Kluczynski Federal Building.
Here is what they all look like!
*They are in order*

Deep dish pizza, Chicago style hotdog, italian beef....oh sorry what was I talking about? Oh right, the food in Chicago is goooood stuff. My favorites will have to be the deep dish and our hot dogs. I can honestly tell you...you will NOT find a greater hot dog then here in Chicago [unless you don't like hot dogs...I understand]. OH! Chicago also has a lot of Polish food...a lot of Polish people live in Chicago haha.
