i has an idea...and considering i just got photoshop yesterday, i gotta give this a try!!

so since we can only have 5 shades of one color, is there a place to show which ones we used??

First its 6 shades (please make sure you read carefully) and second, if you would like to have a little legend of some sort on the side of your coloring showing each color you used, thats fine, but it is not required.

This challenge ain't for me but I'm confident Mercury's Blue Bubble Brigade will still do awesome!! And I can't wait to see the results, they're gonna be gorgeous. <3

i'm still gonna try it though but i have a question
i really hate leaving certain areas white, on manga scans white (like hair) because it looks unfinished to me, so can it be like a silvery-white or does it /havehavehave/ to be plan white?

If its an off-white color, it has to be in the same range of hte color you chose and would go towards the 6 colors. However, if the manga scan itself is poor (as in its supposed to be white but the scan made it gray) in that area and you use white, like hex code FFFFFF white, to color it in, thats fine.

Is it possible to use a gradient tool for the background as long as it starts with one of the colors you chose? Like starts with one of the colors then fades in to white?

Hmm... I had thought about that and since I didn't specifically say anything about, that should be fine.

May we use one of the six colors to also color the lineart of the page? Like with gradients, it would probably look like multiple colors were used as the lineart itself is grayscale and not plain black-and-white, but it would technically follow the rules since only one color was used.

Oh, and can the shades of the color scheme vary a bit in tint? What I mean by this is that if you have the color map/picker open, you have the permission to move for example from the pure cobalt blue shade towards the more lighter shade of blue, that closer to green in the color picker bar? I'm asking this mainly because of broken colors.

Sorry for these questions, I only want to make sure I will do this the correct way if I have time to enter the contest. ^^'''

Yes that is fine. Since the original lineart isn't exactly purely black and white I won't count that against you.

No, when you move around those shaders it makes it a new color (as in it has a new RGB, CMYK, or HEX code.) If it has a different code then it is considered a different color.

I'm really confused now xD I'm not sure what exactly that means? They all have to be starting with the same letter/number? Such as FF00a8 and FF1cb2, but using db1899 doesn't count because it's not within the same starting code even though its still a shade of pink? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question xD I'm just really confused =[

You're way off the mark there. xD   Her question was asking if a different shade of blue would count as a different color and yes it would because, if you are using photoshop for example and are in the color picker, it will show you the code (it shows you RGP, CMYK, and HEX code) for the color. A darker version of blue has a different code than the original color of blue.

So therefor that would count as two seperate colors.

It has nothing to do with what the code is at all (don't overthink it, you're over thinking it now ). Its just if when you are going through your color picker and you want a darker shade of the blue you picked, it will count as one of the 6 colors because its RGB/CMYK/HEX code will be different.

A picture might help too. In the first image, we have our first color I have chosen. As you can see it has its own RGB numbers, CMYK numbers, and HEX code.



Neptune was asking if a shade lighter would count as the same color. But as you can see in this next picture, its code is different than our original pink. So therefore it counts as a 2nd color.



Don't worry so much about what letters or numbers are in there. Just pick our 6 different colors that are in a monochromatic scheme of each other. You get white and black free.

Edit: YAY! After having to restart basically the whole picture due to Gimp crashing(I thought I had saved but apparently not >.<) it is finally done and I am very proud of myself! Can't wait to see everyone else's submissions! <3

As many as there are members on the team. Basically everyone on your team can choose to participate.

Actually, what I meant by the second question was to ask if we are allowed to pick for example a bit greenish blue shade as one of the colors, and a clearer shade of blue as another one of the six. ^^''

ooh haha sorry i misunderstood. ^^; It is supposed to be monochromatic so i guess if it stays in the scheme as your other colors its ok?

Okay everyone, i will be closing submissions around 11 pm Central time (so 12 pm Eastern time, 10 pm Mountain time, 9 pm pacific time...the rest of you gotta figure it out xD)!
