| The bases of the challenge that I came across on Tumblr was to watch a movie or documentary you have never seen before every day. I'm way behind on that factor since we're past the halfway point of 2013 and I'm only finished movie/documentary number 19. For now I'll try to get to 100 movies before the end of 2013 We're supposed to give a little blurb on our thoughts for the movie too. Rating it is optional. Movies 1 - 10- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- Movie 001: Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure
I’ve been meaning to watch all of the Tinkerbell movies since I’ve always enjoyed the music and animation. I had already seen ‘Tinkerbell’ before this challenge. So, I thought I start it off with the second film.
I’m glad Terrance had a bigger role in this movie. He is one of my favorite fairies. Storyline was meh, seen it in many kid’s movies before, but still good nonetheless. Especially the ending.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 002: Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue
There’s a really fat cat! Also I loved how Vidia has a bigger role in this movie. Just another misunderstood fairy. It’s also nice seeing more of the other fairies doing something as well. I liked how they did incorporate that to the human ears the fairy jingles when they talk. Again another cliche kids movie theme with a single parent overworking and unintentionally neglecting their only child who gains a friend in the most unlikely place. Best ending ever is with the cat.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 003: Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings
I found this movie more enjoyable than the other three. It’s another part of Pixie Hollow we haven’t seen and the animation is even more beautiful with the different seasons and how the animals change into their winter coat and how winter is prepared. Like always some cliches if you’ve watched enough movies as a kid, but very enjoyable nonetheless.
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 004: Supernatural Activity
Spoof movie. First opinion of any kind of spoof movie is that they are meh, but that’s because they’re low budget and a spoof. Though they are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine and I watch them anyways.
2/5 - Quote :
- Movie 005: Video Game High School
Originally a 9-Part Web Series, combined together to make a movie.
Overall sounds like a lot of fun. A high school about video gaming. Kitty, there’s a kitty! Close to being like ‘Tumblr University’, but all about video games. Even though most of the games ‘taught’ at the school are FPS games (not my cup of tea), but it’d still would seem like an interesting school to attend. They have all kinds of games taught to master and used to compete against one another to move up in the ratings.
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 006: Rubber
I saw a few scenes last year on a classmate’s computer and first thing I say and will say quite a bit through the movie is “OH chibi!" Nothing much really, just unique in it’s own way.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 007: Futurama: Bender's Game
Basically a 1 1/2 hour long episode, that’s what it felt like. If you watch Futurama, you got the idea of what any of their movies are going to be like. Did like the parodies the played with in it though.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 008: Heathers
The Heathers, a.k.a. The Plastics of this movie. Very much so. Cult humour, it was alright. Very few funny moments, but other than that… not much I can say about the film except that it’s understandable on what the main characters did.
I didn’t watch it by choice, it just happened to have been on the TV when I was with my parents.
2/5 - Quote :
- Movie 009: Carrie (1976)
Required for my Literature: Gothic the Imagination class. Though I have been meaning to watch this for years. Definitely has the better 70s movie quality to it. Sadly I found some parts of the movie rather amusing and started laughing.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 010: Carrie (2002)
Had to watch this after watching the original. I liked how this stayed a little closer to the book, but other than that I don’t care for this version. Definitely prefer the original. This version used way too many special effects and Carrie’s first period scene was not realistic at all. With her bleeding that much they needed to call 9-1-1 because that was not natural unlike in the original version. Also Billy’s sociopath behavior and aggression came out of nowhere!
1.5/5 Movies 11 - 20- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- Movie 011: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)
Another required movie for my Literature: Gothic the Imagination class. It was okay for it’s 1930s quality. The transformation scenes were well done for that quality. Like most movies because they didn’t go overboard with the special effects it’ll probably be the best version out there. Though the scene transitions were a little weird.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 012: Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho
Last required film for Literature: Gothic Imagination class. Loved it! Predictable though. I figured out who the killer was part way through the movie. And of course I can see how that very iconic scene was so scandalous back in the 60s and actually horrifying since that was not seen so much during that time. We see it so much nowadays we don’t find it as scandalous.
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 013: The Suite Life Movie
While I gave up watching anything involving The Suite Life series part through the first season of The Suite Life on Deck, this movie was decent.
London Tipton will always be my favorite character along with Maddie, but Maddie hasn’t been in The Suite Life series since Zack & Cody. OH! And of course we can’t forget Mr. Moseby!
Predictable again, but still enjoyable. It is so weird seeing them nearly being adults when the last time I saw them on a program they were still in their early teens.
Feel free to unleash your rage for Cole Sprouse, but I still like Dylan.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 014: Neco z Alenky (English Dub)
I actually forgot that we watched this in Literature: Gothic Imagination class as well. This movie really creeped me out. Almost as bad as this one 1930s or 1940s Alice movie one time.
This is a movie I would not recommend seeing while you’re ill or recovering from an illness. I think recovering made the movie even weirder than it actually was. I also only caught the movie half way through as well since I missed the class day we watched the first half.
THEY ACTUALLY CUT THE HEADS OFF IN THIS MOVIE ON SCREEN! It wasn’t gory since it was actual cards, but still my jaw dropped that it was actually shown on screen.
2/5 - Quote :
- Movie 015: Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder
Since I’ve seen every episode of Futurama (that is currently available on Netflix), I might as well watch all the movies. I saw one already. And there’s a few more, including this one, that I need to watch as well.
It was alright. Their version for a greener universe. Reminded me of what is going on today.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 016: Mary and Max
Right off the bat the music is amazing as it goes through the opening credits. After that… the movie quickly became depressing for Mary, and it continues to get worse when you hear Max’s story. It’s astounding how this is based on a true story.
It’s a wonderful story as well. Mary being an eight year-old self with no filter and Max having a constant anxiety attack every time he read Mary’s letter. I highly recommend this movie!
5/5 - Quote :
- Movie 017: Indie Game: The Movie
Right off the bat I know the feeling of the frustration these indie game developers are feeling. All of this can even apply to artists, writers, and designers in a way as well. Since we put ourselves out there wanting something to be like [this].
Also it goes to show that there are games out there that are definitely more fun and meaningful because it’s not so much about the company trying to make a profit. But, what’s something everyone would enjoy, money will come in on it’s own, but I want to make a game that I would have wanted to play when I was a kid. If no one else likes it, it gets a shitty review, and I barely make anything, fine I didn’t make this for others. I made this for myself. If you love it and want to by it too, that’s great too, but this is for myself first and foremost.
5/5 - Quote :
- Move 018: Hachi: A Dog's Tale
My dad had been telling me for years that I needed to watch this movie. Though I might start crying.
At the beginning of the movie I squealed at the puppy and the fact that this puppy was lost from where it as supposed to go and where it ended up makes me think of the other puppies and kittens out there who end up in this situation.
Music is beautiful. Also it makes me really want an Akita now. If you love animals and your pets, you will cry! You’ll cry even hard when you’re reminded this was based on a true story.
5/5 - Quote :
- Movie 019: Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Never liked sushi, but I found the sushi to be mouthwatering. It’s an art form. I can see why the sushi costs $300 USD and have to make reservations about a month in advance.
5/5 - Quote :
- Movie 020: Monsters University
I went to see this with my dad because I thought it'd be a movie he would enjoy just as much as I would. It was a fun and good movie for both him and I to laugh about the movies capture of college life. Sadly I found this disappointing because it dragged on a little too long for my liking. I still enjoyed the movie nonetheless since we got to see how Mike and Sully became friends and work for Monsters Inc. Also the quickest character development in history with Randall.
3/5 Movies 21 - 30- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- Movie 021: Despicable Me 2
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in the theater ever. This tops the original movie by far! Without giving too much away, GO WATCH IT!
5/5 - Quote :
- Movie 022: Seattle Superstorm
Don't watch it. Watch it and you're dead (from laughing so hard). It's terrible. It's so (censor) terrible it's worse than a soap opera. Don't even watch the trailer. Don't bother reading the summary. Don't watch it. Good luck!
Seriously though. I only watched it because I wanted to see how bad it was. The title itself made obvious it was going to really really really suck. And of course the typical Hollywood cliche: shoot a few distant views of Seattle and have the Space Needle. Oh no, Seattle is under attack by aliens! Destroy the Space Needle! Very low budget TV Movie for the SyFy channel. The same channel that brings you Sharknado and other weird hybrid things.
I later learned that SyFy thought it'd be cute to have to premiere at Emerald City ComiCon 2012. Because it's a movie based in Seattle why not show it at the biggest comic convention in Seattle. Biggest joke ever. Don't (censor) mess with Seattle.
Since I don't think I can give it a 0 as much as I really want to.

Movie 23: Kings of Pastry
Talk about trying to put people into a sugar comatose state. All the sugar they use for their art. Absolutely stunning and amazing what these pastry makers can do. They are artists and everything was beautiful. One competitor's piece collapsed on him because the ceiling light was in the way. I started crying for the guy. It's a documentary by the way.
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 24: The Tigger Movie
Meh. It was cute, but not as satisfying as I thought it would have been. I'm glad I didn't beg my parents for us to go see it when it was in theaters. Still love Tigger very much.
3/5 - Quote :
- Movie 25: Struck by Lightning
When I saw the trailer for this a few years back I knew I would instantly love it. I could relate to the main character's, Carson, frustrations with his school and everyone he was around. It had very good sense of humor and caused me to jerk a tear or two towards the end. I highly recommend watching this movie!
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 26: Pitch Perfect
Finally got a chance to see this movie! Loved it, loved it, loved it! And I will always remind everyone that Cups is not an original song. It's a cover of 'When I'm Gone' by Lulu and the Lampshades back in the 1930s. The cups technique comes from the cups game. Anna Kendrick saw two YouTubers, cover 'When I'm Gone' using the cups game technique through Reddit and was later asked to use it in Pitch Perfect. She made it famous. Very good job with the covers for all the songs used in the movie!
5/5 - Quote :
Movie 27: The Lorax
Danny DeVito was perfectly casted for the Lorax. Meanwhile I think it was a little off with Zac Efron as the main character and Taylor Swift as the main character's love interest. The voices didn't match the age of the characters in my opinion. Betty White was amazing as the grandmother. Also, the hair cut on the villain looks absolutely ridiculous. Only Edna Mode can sport that hair cut.
I love how they pointed out so many things that does apply to our lives. The animals. The animals were absolutely adorable, funny, and so FLUFFY! Best part was anything that involved the animals. The animals definitely reminded me of the minions from Despicable Me. The Lorax (character) was absolutely amazing and hilarious. The fish were also hilarious with their singing and sound effects.
It was cute. I enjoyed it.

- Movie 28: My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
So many catchy songs! Cliche, but very cute nonetheless. It was very interesting seeing most of the characters in human form. I especially loved Spike as a dog.
4/5 - Quote :
- Movie 29: The Avengers
Like I kept telling people, I love the Marvel Studio movies, but I refuse to pay to watch them with my own money. As always I amazed by the movie. Tony Stark is still my favorite Avenger. Like every Marvel studio movie I've watched I'm always on the lookout for Stan Lee. Never disappointed as well on where and when Stan Lee makes a cameo.

| With out bad it was, I had to make the Blink reference. Because that's how much I have to emphasis how bad it was.
Most of the movies I found were on Netflix. And some of the more recent ones have been documentaries. |
