| There are times when I am writing that I get this weird feeling. There comes times when it feels like I have to let out a little piece of me. I think that this is what characterizes our writing. It's almost like I'm letting go of a little piece of myself in the process, almost like you are using a character to let go of personal feelings that you never realized that you had.
I think that it is this process that allows readers to get to know us as authors. For example, I've noticed that when I've been reading a certain author for a while, their writing style doesn't really seem to change. while you get to know the characters and the story, it feels almost as if the author themselves are telling you about themselves. Even if they wrote under a different name you would be able to realize who they are.
a couple of examples of stories that remind me of what I am talking about:
The Percy Jackson Series Harry Potter Twilight The Chronicles of Crestomanci
Are there other things you notice while are writing that influences your overall experience? Do you get this feeling too?

| I don't think that necessarily has to be their personalities, it also could be inspired in someone they know, i think JK rowling did this with some relatives.
but i do agree with the experience, i think sometimes depending on the story, authors share a personal experience and adapt these to the story, if find it interesting because you might relate to it and feel like "i know what your're going through sister". a very good example is with Meg Cabbot with her Princess Diaries series, most of us girls got to some of the situations she got through, of course this story is about a teenager who suddenly turned into a princess, but still, her emotions and some situations, while i was reading i was "omg!! i remember being like this".
Is quite fun this feeling =p |

| I get what you are saying. I love when you feel like you can relate to the character. The Princess Diaries series was lovely, and even thought the movies didn't exactly do them justice, those were pretty good too!
What I was referring to though is when we ourselves are writing, we let a little bit of ourselves go into the story, which is a strange feeling in itself. |

| When I ever write really dark fanfiction I sometimes feel those dark emotions rise up in me and release themselves into my writing. I don't write dark fiction much but I look back at some hard places in my life and it definetly reflects in my writing. I often feel like after I read a novel and if it really impacts me I feel like I can pick up and thus write about those characters because I want to explore their story more especially if the end of a book leaves me in wanting. |

Now that i think about it...is hard for me to express in words what i really want to say when it comes to "let a little bit of ourselves go into the story", i get what you're saying, but to me is hard x_x so, if i recall, i haven't experienced that :/ |

| With some writers, their style changes are so gradual you won't notice unless you read the first book in a series vs. the last book in the series but then you'd miss all the good stuff in between^^
As a writer, my style changes all the time and it's best to experiment and do things you aren't used to doing to strengthen and expand that writing talent.
For me my biggest weakeness is 1st person narrative. I'm very picky when reading this writing style, and even pickier when writing in it. This for me is one of the hardest writing styles and it's why I tend to stick with 3rd person narative. I've been trying to do 1st person a bit more lately because it's good for writing practice to get yourself out of your comfort zones in order to grow as a writer^^
When I first started writing, my detail and descriptions were non-existent. As I grew, my detail and descriptions went from over-kill over-all to over-kill in some areas and non-existent in orders. Critique reviews helped teach me about balancing them out and I use the advice given which is what has become my current writing style today C:
I used to listen to music when I wrote and sometimes I still do but now if I'm listening to sad music, I can't write a happy sentence lol, if I'm listening to happy music, I can't write a sad sentence and in my writing now I sometimes have a happy sentence directly following a sad sentence and vice-versa.
If I listen to music it can influence me too much and it's also partially due to the fact lately if I'm listening to music my mind immediately jumps to the lyrics and I end up singing or get distracted too easily and can't concentrate on what I'm intending to write u.u
I only use music on special occasions when I write now and I have to have the songs ready in playlists. Sad, happy, epic, up-beat, slow, romantic, mixed sad-epic, mixed dance, upbeat and etc.^^ |

| Yup.
If I'm reading a series that I'm really into and I start writing, sometimes the books or the things I'm doing, influence my writing. Sometimes it's the tone, other times there are ideas I happen to incorporate into it. Not done on purpose or consciously doing it, but say I read a book years ago and I've almost nearly forgotten it and somehow I end up incorporating it into my stories. Usually because the book or themes really impressed something in my mind that couldn't be entirely forgotten. |
