Hi there, I was pointed in this direction by LadyGalaxia (who I know from another forum ^^) and just couldn't help but register and go say hi.



I've been a Sailor Moon fan since childhood and I'm 33 now so it's been quite a long time running. My favorite senshi are Sailor Mercury, Neptune, and Jupiter. I think I'm a bit like Ami-chan myself. ^^ I'm a bit of a geek and proud of it. Plus I LOVE water of any kind. I'm always the one people at work come to when the computers or printers aren't working...even though I'm not in IT. Go figure. ^-^



Outside of senshi my favorites would be Saphir and Jedite.



I live in New York with my husband and our adopted 14 year old. I work in accounting and co-run 2 websites and a paranormal research group on the side. I also sing in choir, do some professional photography, and write both for business and pleasure. Pretty busy huh? I like it that way usually. At least I'm always doing something! ^-^



I'm an anime fan of course. Aside from Sailor Moon I love anything by Miyasaki especially Nausicaa. I also like D Gray Man, Bleach, Trigun, Blood+, and Yu Yu Hakusho. I like anything at least semi serious with a paranormal streak in it.



I wonder if anyone here might know me from an old site called Gaia Online. I used to have a Mercury account there. And I used to do a LOT of RPing there back when I actually had time. LOL



Lastly, when I'm not running around downing Redbulls and keeping busy, I love hiking, reading, fiddling with graphic design and siggy making, and watching cartoons. Yes I'm a real kid at heart. I still love my toons.

Welcome, Laura! Nice to see another NY'r. Hee. And I have to say, I got really excited when I read that you have an adopted child. ^^ Where did you adopt him/her from, if I may ask? I have four adopted sisters, and my cousins are adopted and my best friend has ten adopted siblings. Hee. So, that's kind of a big part of my life.

I used to sing in a choir as well, although I am the pianist now. What kind of choir is it?

What kind of photography do you do? I am not a professional, but I do love to do it as well. I love seeing other peoples' styles and such.

Also, yayness for a fellow Trigun lover. ^^ I occasionally watch Bleach as well, and I adored Yu Yu Hakusho and anything by Miyazaki.

and it was just waiting for the revival of Sailor moon... The Re-Release of a newly translated version of Sailor Moon will be out this September.

Hi! ^^ Nice to meet you too. Where in New York are you from? I'm from Long Island, Bay Shore to be exact.



Our 14 year old, James, is my husband's half brother. They share a father but did not know each other until about a year and a half ago. When James' father died, he was sent to live with his mother who contacted us. She was later found to be abusive and both of her children were removed from her custody. We were actually the ones who called the police during a very bad drug and drink enduced episode. The whole thing is a bit of a long story. So we stepped in to take James and raise him. His grades have gone from 40's to 80's and he's a really great kid.



I take pictures in old historic places and have had some photos up once in a gallery in an exhibit called "Beauty from Decay" all about abandoned places. I also LOVe cemetery statues and any sort of stonework sculptures. Sometimes I shoot nature scenes too. How about yourself?



I sing in choir at an Episcopal church. It's a bit challenging as the choir leader and organist was trained in Vienna and is very musically talented, so he pushes us all a bit to learn things we usually wouldn't in a simpler choir. But I like it. ^^I wish I could play the piano. Though my first preference would probably be guitar of I took lessons.



Wow, another Trigun fan? There don't seem to be a lot of female Triguners out there. I do get strange looks sometimes when I start talking Trigun in a room full of anime geek guys. ^^

No, not yet, just the Re translated version of the Manga

That is really beautiful about your son. I am so glad that he was able to come into a loving family and receive a second chance. It is not easy to raise a young boy, but that is really very giving of you and your husband. And that is wonderful about his grades!

There are several gals here who like Trigun! I think in real life I only know guys who like it (I never realized that before, actually) but yes, we have some female Trigun lovers! We should start a topic. Ooh, I think I may do so tomorrow.

I do not have a genre so much, but I like to take pictures of little things that usually go unnoticed or just very ordinary things. I like that ... wistful feel. I'm on the south shore as well not far from the ferry to Fire Island. ^^ You should post some of your photos. Maybe we should create a thread somewhere in a miscellaneous section. I'll post some as well. Do you like taking macrophotography of objects? I do that sometimes. I'll keep an eye out for a Trigun topic.

Thanks ^^ Nice to meet you. I'd be happy to help your brother in any way I can. I'm not a full accountant with a degree though maybe in the future I will be. Our senior accountant left our company and we haven't found anyone to really fill his shoes so I have had to learn to do some of the accounting tasks too on top of A/R and bookkeeping stuff. It's a real learning curve and I'm a little buried, but I'm getting there! The only thing I can not stress enough is to get really comfortable using Excel. It's my best friend at work. LOL



It's all about reconciliation and balance. The financial reports have to match the bank. The bank has to match the books. The books have to match the records in the company software. Everything has to balance. That's basically it in a nutshell...but the devil is in the details. SOmetimes you could spend hours trying to find a penny difference but it sure does feel good when you find it and everything works. ^^



Yes! I highly recommend Nausicaa. I first saw it aired on TV when I was 13 and fell in love before I even knew what anime was. Then I spent years trying to figure out the name of the movie and finally ended up rediscovering it in an anime club. Grave of the Fireflies was incredible as well but so sad.



This may be a silly newbie question...but what is Ghibli?

Oh so you're just filling in for the moment. I see. Well I'll be taking a course called "The computer in business" with my brother this upcoming semester so I'm definitively sure that we'll using excel and other Microsoft programs. LOL Ghibli is the studio that makes the animation. It's basically like the Japanese Disney. Since Ghibli is just an animation company and doesn't do distribution they've paired up with Disney so their films can be released on DVD and Blu-ray. So basically Studio Ghibli makes the animation/film and Disney puts it out on DVD/Blu-ray. Speaking of Blu-ray have you had the chance to see Nausicca on blu-ray? I'm excited that Ghibli is deciding to release their films in blu-ray ^-^

If you'd like to use a color font, I think any light blue would be amazing! I usually use color charts if the color isn't already on the forum's colors, like this here.

No, Haven't seen anything on Blue Ray actually. I'm still stuck on old fashioned DVDs and even more old fashioned VCR tapes, plus the internet. LOL That course sounds really interesting. I hope he enjoys it.

That sounds good. I haven't RPed in the Sailor Moon Universe in forever. I kind of miss it. Thanks for the color chart link too. Maybe I'll experiment some.
