So, I started watching PGSM the other week because I can't get enough of Sailor Moon and after years and years of trying to be satisfied with the same story line over and over again I thought I'd try something new. I'm noticing there are sooo many things that Live-Action has that you can't find in any other versions. Let's talk about them!
My personal observations: 1. Obviously, more character development. Each character has a unique story and gets enough time in the spotlight for us to actually know things about them besides the basic facts. Also, the way they become friends is actually realistic. I know I've talked about this on another thread, but in the anime the inners are like, "Ohhh, I'm a senshi... you're a senshi... I guess we're all best friends now!" Come on, when does that EVER happen -.- I love that in the beginning of live-action multiple senshi (senshi? senshis? don't know what the plural form of "senshi" is -.-) actually fight before becoming friends. Just refreshing to see something realistic for a change. 2. Sooooo much more of their civilian lives, I love it! 3. Kind of like what I said before, it's more realistic. I mean, obviously it's not realistic to have soldiers from the Moon Kingdom runnin around, but they do as much as they can to make it as realistic as possible. I mean, THEY HAVE NORMAL CIVILIAN HAIR COLORS. Come on, like oh this little girl is the only person in all of Japan with naturally pink hair... oh wait, this sailor soldier has pink hair too... same height, same age, same face... Must be a cooincidence! What about the fact that her name is CHIBIusa and this is Sailor CHIBI Moon? Come on man -.- 4. Usagi and Mamoru's relationship is taken much more seriously. In the anime, since season 1 was so lighthearted, it was just a girly teenage crush. Here, it's taken seriously and might even look extremely dramatic to someone who watches PGSM without knowing the story of how they were destined to be together. 5. SAILOR LUNA OBVIOUSLY <3<3<3 6. Usagi is less of a cry-baby. 7. Less filler.
And there are soooooo many more things but I wanted to hear what you all have to say

PGSM has a lot pros. It's my second favorite version of Sailor Moon. It's wonderful to see the girls' normals lives and watch them become close friends.

OF COURSE IT'S REALISTIC!! I saw a solider from the Moon yesterday running down my street fighting off some baddies.

I think on the whole, PGSM is the best made and most well thought out version with the least flaws, its only real problems are things like special effects and fight scenes but honestly those are such shallow issues and have nothing to do what really matters like story and acting.
Myu gets a slight edge for me because i do like the closeness of it all. But PGSM overall I would say is the technically best (yes better than the manga which had some pacing and character issues at times)

PGSM > manga big time. Things are paced nicely and the characters all get the limelight.

I also think Usagi comes off less stupid, she's certainly about 10x more naive but not stupid

I agree with Miki. Usagi comes off naive than stupid which I like because I know Usagi is smart girl. I wish the anime portrayed her that way.

Another reason- Mamoru's given a patron and even more people that he knew personally before Usagi. I especially love the subplot of him and Hina.
Also, can we just pause and Naru was pretty cool here?
The Shitennou. That's all I gotta say there.

Gahhh I agree completely with what all of you have said. Mamoru isn't just some random guy, in the anime we knew almost nothing about his personal life outside of wandering the streets. All we knew was that he was in college, and I'm pretty sure we didn't even figure that out for a while :p
Okay but not only the fact that Sailor Luna is there, but she's hilarious! Like her first episode when she's introducing herself and before she can say her identity she has to do something cat-like, like the balls all show up and she runs off to play with them in the middle of her speech hahah she's so funny in PGSM
Oh, I forgot one of my favorite things about PGSM! It's HILARIOUS. I laugh out loud all the time. I didn't really think any other versions were THAT funny, except Sailor Stars. But PGSM is funnier. Motoki and Kamekichi <3

PGSM as an entire whole is a pro. It is like, my favorite telling of Sailor Moon. I cannot stress enough how much I love the character development in this version. I feel like that's what made the show so great.
My personal favorite....well everybody probably knows my personal favorite aspect of PGSM. If not, here's a hint. lol Really, it's PGSM's fault why I'm on such a ship kick.
Oooh and I also like!
Spoiler:
The redemption of the shitennou. I really liked that. If only it were sooner XD And the weapons the girls get in like, the very last episode. I really wish they had them throughout the show. T.T oh well.
I also like that PGSM, in my opinion, gives very subtle nods towards the other seasons.

JUST FINISHED PGSM AND I'M ABOUT TO DIE.
Oh yeah, but I totally agree. Totally hinted for another season. I'm so sad that out of all of the versions of Sailor Moon, PGSM had to be the one to end at season one. I would have LOVED to see Stars.

Brandi did you watch the Act Zero and the Special Act yet? (Birth of Tuxedo Mask and Hina Afterwards too...) There's also Kirari* Super Live and Super Dance Lesson to check out too.
If you haven't watched some of these I really would, in this order
Birth of Tuxedo Mask --- Mamoru tells Usagi the story of how it began Hina Afterwards --- What happened to Hina Kirari* Super Live --- Special Live concert for PGSM featuring the girls and the Shitennou, very funny and very cute! Super Dance Lesson --- Makoto, Usagi and Luna teach a few dance moves to some of the most popular songs Act Zero --- Special prequel about how Minako became Sailor V Special Act --- The finale after the finale for PGSM. Most perfect thing ever.
It will totally close the book on PGSM for you.
The final scene of the Special Act pretty much... it might just be the best scene in all of Sailor Moon across all versions...

I still haven't watched this series in full (I really should) but from the parts I've seen on YouTube and read up on it seems like a really cool show. I'd check it out just to see Dark Mercury, personally. I also have to give it credit for casting. When I saw Kitagawa Keiko in a scene I was like, "That's not an actress playing Sailor Mars, that's Sailor Mars!" I like how their hair color from the manga and anime becomes part of the transformation too.
Fun piece of trivia: the actress who auditioned for Sailor Luna originally thought she was auditioning for the role of Sailor Chibi Moon. I always thought that was amusing.

I like to think of it as more pure and innocent, like Naoko often represents by drawing her with pearls.

I was thinking more about how the anime made Usagi come across as quite a bit dimmer than the other versions suggest where she's just a little silly and clumsy. I prefer her being more naive than unintelligent.

PGSM is my favourite version of the series, I just love the focus on characterization and development. I also loved the storyline of the Shitennou in this version, especially with their new designs!

Bumping an old topic!
Kamekichi won my heart. I loved the character development throughout the series, especially the quirks of characters. And, ah, I was so in live with the Cest la Vie song in college.
