| it's so good to see i'm not the only one who loves mamoru *-*
and even though I like the anime version(not sooo much) and the manga version, my favorite one is the pgsm. it's like he's a real person. |

I love manga Mamoru best but I thought he was quite good in PGSM as well. I too loved seeing him with Usagi in real life and I thought the actor did a good job of portraying him. His only flaw was when he tried to show extreme emotions such as anger or fear, because then he overacted and twisted his face too much. But when he was simply calm, quiet Mamoru, he was quite lovely and a pleasure to watch. ^^ |

| that's actually a problem the actor has. i've seen him in oretachi wa tenshi da! ~no angel no luck and in kamem rider hibiki and he is like that, he is too "facial", let's put it like this |

| Ahh, yeah. Some actors can not portray overt emotions without pushing it to the extreme. It's unfortunate because he is so good when he is passive! (which I guess isn't saying much but still. ) |

| People say that Mamoru is a jerk compared to the manga. But I noticed that if you just watch the anime he isn't a jerk at all really. He's more charming than guys in today's society anyway. |

| I agree!! I think people only think he's a jerk because they only pay attention to him during the first season (and he's a bit meaner in the eng dub than the japanese) and because of the break up. And while he was an a$$ during the break up, he had his reasons. They aren't completely justifiable for the pain he caused Usagi, but at the same time, poor guy had no idea what to do, he thought his only love and family was going to die if he stayed with her. D: He was hurting too. |

I agree with you so much here. That needs to be a fanfic or something. The break up from mamoru's perspective, cuz he was all alone, he didn't really have anyone to confide in like usagi did. |

| Honestly, destiny or not, if Mamoru treated me during the breakup like he did Usagi, I'd be saying see yah later buddy, I'm better than that.
Comparing the English version to the Japanese version, he was much meaner to Usagi in the English and that's probably why I didn't like him growing up lol still don't like him too much to be honest. |

But seriously, I've never considered looking at how they drew/animated his eye expressions till this thread popped up. They really paid attention to detail-they wanted to have a male character look like he was in love without anything obnoxious or over the top like you'd see in other anime and manga, and boy did they accomplish it.

| I am in a minority here, as anime!Mamoru is absolutely my fav character interpretation, but I guess it's for the best. I don't want to share my dumb son lololo And speaking of his eyes, I think the best moment belongs to the The Kiddie Train Incident. If you want to destroy the "anime!Mamo has few emotions" argument, just show them this little big gem of a scene. Feast your eyes as I present to you The Burned Victim Oooh. Scary... Also, jokey scenes aside, part of why I adore 90s!Mamo so much is because of his design, mostly eyes. There is some warmth just in the way they're drawn. Also, Ando makes them look just extra pretty, what with the eyelashes and rather feminine shape. I mean. Damn he's so pretty. And evil. And silly. Mostly silly. |
