I'm not much of a big fan of Ami x Makoto but this is adorable

I personally don't ship it, but I do see why it gets shipped and even how it could work.

To me, they remind me of two women who used to be in the chorus I was in. These two women been best friends for years and they do live in the same house, but they're not together (one of them is married and the other, as far as I know, is happily single). Their relationship is more of a sisterly one than anything.

Though I'm not an Ami/Mako shipper, I love the idea of them being roommates/housemates and opening a flower shop or a bakery together.

I used to ship them before I discovered Taiki. Now I'm sure those two belong together, as Taiki is the only one who can best Ami in schoolwork. Competition brings out her romantic side, I've noticed.

Can someone tell me why this is a ship? I'm curious! I'm game for a possible new ship!

This ship is one of my favorites! Even though I tend to enjoy a big variety of pairings for the inner senshi, Ami and Mako together is always cute ^^.

A little late to answer your question, and I'm not super eloquent about pairings, but...they have a really quiet sort of companionship, I guess? 

Makoto and Ami have very different looks and personalities, but you never really see them clash over things, which is interesting and goes against the norm. Usually, the designated "tough guy" argues with the smart one in the team, but they have a mutual respect and belief if each other's abilities.

If anything, they tend to go out of their way to help the other when they have issues. The 90s anime does this kind of thing a lot, where one of them is down about something and the other immediately goes to their aid. Makoto's protective around everyone, but she does seem to gravitate to Ami in a lot of situations. Like 9 times out of 10, if she's not hovering over Usagi, she's next to Ami.

And I know they have a couple of moments in the new SeraMyu shows where Jupiter saves Mercury. And I can easily see them succeeding at their dreams together, Ami being a doctor and Mako either being that housewife or running a bakery or both. They just kind of quietly fit with each other.

This is probably my second favorite pairing in sailor moon (after Rei/Minako first)

Shipping aside, official art from all sorts of mediums always stuck makoto and ami together like they stuck minako and rei together. Anyone have any idea why that is?

I just realized that I haven't posted in here in almost a year, weirdly enough.  :bunnylol:So jumping into this again...

I tend to write about either Ami or Mako a lot when I do SM fanfic, and I realize that I end up characterizing them as potentially romantic even if I'm not actively trying to, which I guess says a lot about how easy it is to do it. It doesn't take a huge amount of effort to push them into a pairing because they're pretty close to it anyway. I never feel like I have to jump through hoops to convey it right or have Ami/Mako feel natural. They're simple, but that's not bad at all.

Makoto, to a certain extent, is the same.  Remember when we first meet Makoto, she went to guys and was always saying the guy looked like her sempai.
