Long ago, the stars of the Orion constellation were of one alliance, an alliance forged to protect the Orion Nebula, for the nebula’s powers of rebirth was necessary for the continuation of life, and those powers were often sought out by the forces of evil for its immense capabilities. Together, the seven senshi of Orion, princesses of their stars and beloved by their people, worked to solidify that incredible power into a single gemstone: The Genesis Crystal. They agreed that only one person should be allowed to wield its incredible power, a person with the purest heart and intentions. This person they named the Queen of Orion, and she made it her mission to protect the crystal, even from her own descendants, by making an everlasting promise that even her descendants would be unable to use the crystal if they had evil in their hearts. From that point forward, the senshi of Orion pledged to protect their princess, and did so admirably.

Many years and a senshi generation later, the sailor crystals of Orion were reborn into their respective princesses, and at their coming of age, each senshi moved to the Genesis Castle at the Orion Nebula to train and learn to work together to protect the princess and genesis crystal under the tutelage of Bunny of Mau and Sirius of Coronis.

Unfortunately, the two tutors could not decide on a single method of instruction, so the training was broken and haphazard, and it was then that Scorpion struck, intent upon the Crystal and its immense powers. In fear of her senshi’s lives, the Princess of Orion used the power of the Genesis Crystal to save everyone and send them all to a different place, in hopes of a better future.

But, little did she know, when she sent everyone away, she also sent Scorpion and his minions with them. Their new life on Earth in a small town “Elysian Fields” in America started out to be exactly what the princess had wished – without harm, free, and hopeful. However, when Scorpion awoke with similar ideas of domination and control, seeking the Genesis Crystal to awaken an ancient force of pure destruction and power than had been locked away, Antares, there was no alternative: Bunny and Sirius had to awaken the Orion Senshi to protect their new world, their princess, and the Genesis Crystal!

Well, if we're going to go off of star names within the constellation (Minus the big baddie Antares he's trying to summon...) I've listed them below with a quick note on meanings if I could find them... also suggested gender.

• Graffias - Head of Scorpion; Lilac hue. Also called "Crown of the Forehead", according to Robson it causes 'extreme melevolence, mercilessness, fiendishness, repulsiveness, malice, theft, crime, pestilence and contagious diseases.' It's capable of bestowing great honor and power, but benefits are easily corrupted and abused and attended by danger and violence. Credited with giving the ability to do research, especially into things of a hidden or secret nature but they warn of an indication of mass destruction in mundane maps.
  In this, I see Graffias as of either gender, wears liliac, and is in charge of Scorpion's research department, whether researching ways to summon Antares or researching the identities of the Orion Senshi. S/He's all of the terribleness listed above, has two pet dogs, "Danger" and "Violence" ((see what I did there? xD)). I think s/he should do the main research behind Antares, as s/he's associated with mass destruction. I also think that s/he should be the leader of the minions, as Kunzite lead the Shitennou.
  
  
• Isidis - Right Claw of Scorpion; Also has Mars/Saturn nature; appears to bestow the same destructive qualities as Antares and Graffias, but with few of the possible benefits. Associated with imprisonment and shame, disgrace and assults. Capacity for gain but attended by qualities of selfishness, envy, violence, sickness and domestic disharmony. If this star promotes to high office, there is a real danger of subsequent disgrace.
  So... he's Graffias's right hand man. He carries out the imprisonments and punishments, often shaming his captives, and, when not reigned in by Graffias, causes disharmony among the other generals of Scorpion. If ever he is promoted (Say Scorpion offs Graffias) it will be the downfall of the whole operation.
  
  
• Aculeus AND Acumen- Sting of Scorpion; twins. Both with nature of Mars and Moon. Marked reputation for blindness (physical, emotional, and psychological), sickness and disease. Their position illustrates a propensity for attack, both as victim and perpetrator, whilst their lack of definition argues for emphasis on hidden and sustained energies, rather than a direct or immediate impact (which would be more characteristic of the influence of Lesath)
  So, twins (fraternal or identical), with one of them being physically blind, the other is blind to anything but their immediate future (can't think ahead/see the bigger picture/see through possible downfalls to schemes). Attacks the people around the senshi, and when directly attacks them they inflict disease upon them, from fevers to hallucinations to actual temporary blindness. However, their attacks can be turned back upon them...
  
  
• Lesath - Sting of Scorpion; means "The sting". Has Nature of Mercury/Mars, association with a quick mind, a stinging wit and capacity for verbal attack. Traditionally unfortunate and unlucky, reputed to bestow danger, violence, immorality and an affiliation with poisons.
  So S/He's unlucky, but incredibly quick thinking, and enjoys using poison to do away with enemies. Quick to attack and deals with problems head-on.

A meeting has been called via communicator that will bring all seven of the Orion senshi together for the first time! They gather in a coffee shop on mainstreet in Elysian Fields, but will they be prepared to actually meet the strange talking animals that helped them through their first battle, and discover who else is in this fight against evil? Some might be surprised...

Senshi range from high-school to early-college age.
Genesis Crystal was fragmented into 7 rainbow crystals that hide within each Senshi; when they combine, the Genesis Crystal forms and the Princess awakens.
The Princess is not a senshi.

Dum de dum, delving deeper into names and thus possible power suggestions....

SENSHI -

Sailor Betelgeuse (Orange-Red) - it's seriously a huge huge star. If placed where the sun is now, Jupiter would be on its surface. ... but red always screams "fire."
Sailor Rigel (bright blue) - the 6th brightest star in the sky, expected to supernova sometime soon (on the cosmic scale soon though, not really our lifetime soon). While it is a bright blue supergiant, so are all the belt stars, so we don't necessarily need to make Rigel water... but it has a lot of 'marinus' nicknames.
Sailor Bellatrix (yellow star) - well... name means 'right shoulder'... has a high temperature... But! Fun fact, it's called the Amazon Star, or the Female Warrior. I think that lends itself nicely to the idea of a senshi. It's also known as Mirzam, the Heralder, as it marks the appearance of the brighter star Rigel.
Sailor Saiph - Saiph means "Sword of the Giant".
Sailor Alnitak - possible twin -- a triple star and is associated with the colors topaz yellow, light purple and grey. ... means "girdle" haha, we're talking about a belt.
Sailor Alnilam - possible twin -- white star, central position, means "string of pearls" as it decorates the center of the belt.
Sailor Mintaka -- double star, brilliant white and pale violet. Means "the belt"

feel free to change the secondary colors and tweak the primary into whatever shade of Red you'd want, but the general thing - the three-layered skirt and all, should stay the same.
