I've been twirling this idea around in my head for a long time, unsure if it would be accepted or if any one would be interested in it. I would like to take GC a step further and create a logo and a mascot. I got this idea from Sailor Moon Sacrifice and anime conventions. I love SMS's logo, it's beautiful, simple, and looks very professional. I think it would be a great step in making us look more like a larger forum than just a simple place. As for the mascot, I would LOVE to have perhaps a fan made character or a twist on a current character as the "face" of GC. We could feature it on shirts, stickers, and other fan stuff with the money going towards gc donations. Each year or so we could run a new contest for mascots with a new shirt every year.

I was thinking there could be two prizes for creating these, like 20$ each, or something along those lines. I would pay for it out of my own pocket (since we have no donation money) and would work with the winner to see what they would want. (ie cash, posters, wall scroll, pillow, etc). AND I would open it to all moonies, not just the people here so we could draw more interest in the community.

I like the mascot idea, or we could even do like a symbol or some sort of image that is related to us. Don't know how I feel about a mascot exactly but I'd have to see some examples or something.

Like having a mascot would be fun and exciting but I get the feeling that having one would also get rid of that Sailor Moon forum feel to it.

For example the top banner on the page. You look at it and think "Sailor Cosmos" and then think "Sailor Moon"

But if we have a mascot that is like a...cat [for example! lol] and it was on the top banner the thought of Sailor Moon wouldn't pop into people's heads and they would have to do more digging around to find out what this forum actually is and what goes on.

Totally me rambling and sorry if it doesn't make sense to anyone haha. But for the logo I'm alllll for it.

I love this idea and I think the mascot thing could work! We can still have a sailor moon character on our banner. Perhaps the mascot can be feature somewhere else? Like in adds. I feel like the mascot should be a fan senshi rather than animal. Maybe Sailor Galaxy Cauldron?

I see Yami-chan's point. There are many aspects of the series Sailor Moon that remind you of the series without being a direct reference to a canon character. I.E., we could reference a canon theme that would be easily recognizable as Sailor Moon.

I mean, when you see an otaku sailor senshi, such as Sailor Earth or Sailor Capricorn, you do think of the series Sailor Moon, right? Even if that otaku sailor senshi is not a canon character? I'm sure there are other canon elements, besides the standard senshi uniform, that we could reference through the creation of a mascot.

For example, another canon theme or canon element could be the crescent moon or the henshin/transformation items.

That being said, I'm not completely sold on the mascot idea, but I don't want anyone to discount a mascot outright for not being identifiable with Sailor Moon. There are plenty of ways we can make an original mascot identifiable with Sailor Moon by incorporating a canon element/theme of the Sailor Moon series. .

i think for the mascot idea, it should be designing a Sailor Galaxy Cauldron.^^ just my weirdness through the depression but i think that could make for a fun mascot.

I'm not keen on a mascot using something that is fanmade. However, what if our mascot was the Cauldron Guardian? Its the only thing that makes sense to me. Plus she has such a little appearance and is small and perfect for cute chibi mascot drawings.

I like the idea! I'm undecided on a mascot myself, but a logo would be good! I'd wanna think more on a mascot and potentially see examples first.

The Mascot would have to be Sailor Moon related, however it's also to make money, since we could sell shirts legally if it's not an already registered SM character. The mascot wouldn't be on the banner all the time, if at all, but would be in some advertisements, our facebook and twitter page, and on GC merch.

It could be an animal OR a senshi, but I do agree to keep it easily recognize able as a SM theme which ever it may be.

Part of the mascot would be to make us more interactive, show some forum spirit at anime cons with shirts and stickers, and to help make us money.

Honestly I can't always pay for giveaway items, domain names, and ads all the time, and more often than not it's coming straight from me. I was hoping to mix a bunch of different elements that benefited us on a multifaceted level instead of "just because" or for a banner. It would be more a, if you want to see it and like it kind of deal rather then, you are stuck seeing this for the rest of your time on the forums every where you go.

Absolutely! There would be some rules we would work on, and I really like the idea of our own Galaxy Cauldron Guardian or a Sailor Galaxy kind of thing! I would probably open up a poll to see what would inspire the most artists, and what would people most easily recognize.

Personally I LOVE the Guardian idea, however it was a manga-only character, and we should appeal to people who are into all aspects of SM. So if we decide to hold a competition, that is when we'd start holding polls to narrow down the rules and what we would expect.

Well also keep in mind that the Cauldron itself is manga and Myu only and thats the name of our forum. ;P

But yeah, if we were to hold a competition why not ask for either or? OR Maybe! A guardian that has a Sailor form! YEAH. Compromise!

Yeah, I think be hard to fit in a mascot with such an important term like "Galaxy Cauldron" without it being Chibichibi / Guardian Cosmos / Sailor Cosmos. Unless you want some kind of freaky personified star seed. It might be hard to "team with the theme" as it were.

Once again, it couldn't be an already registered character, and I don't think it would be that hard to create something just our own though.

As much as I agree, if we want it on shirts and want to claim it as our property to make money, copyrights wise and out of respect to Naoko, i think it should be more of an inspired design.

I love this idea! It works with the Cauldron idea and is a Mascot that most Sailor Moon forums or sites don't use. Good Thinking Brit!

She is a registered character I'm afraid, so she can't be done.

Any registered Character in the SM universe can not be a mascot and picking one of them defeats the purpose of having a mascot. Please be sure to read my request on why I want one.

We think alike! I feel like that's the best choice for a mascot unless someone else comes up with a really cool idea.

It's not that it would be against the entry requirements i think its more that logos, mascots and titles tend to fit together with a theme or motif, or else there just feels something off and unnatural to it... unless its in Asia, in which case everything can just be represented by an cartoon animal.
