Surely I'm not the only one here who loves it~ Glee is a musical dramedy about the trials of a high school show choir in Lima, Ohio. The show is most notable for its many many covers of popular songs ranging from showtunes to classic rock to current hits, along with a few original numbers. The show is also known for its portrayal of gay youth and the issues they face such as relationships, bullying, and coming out of the closet. But all in all, it's mostly a bit of lighthearted musical fun we can enjoy on our Tuesday nights. The show also has one of the most batpoop insane fandoms known to man, but hopefully we can keep the insanity out of here

But yeah. Feel free to discuss favorite characters, episodes, songs, etc. Talking about ships is ok, but let's keep it civil~ Life is too short to get angry about fictional relationships, after all

I used to watch and like Glee a lot but the second season blew me off. The characters personalities, interests, relationships and ages seemed to be reseting all the time and it was... awkward, at least for me.

Also, it might seem progressive, but it actually isn't, or at least I don't percieve it like that. Ironic racism is still racism. Ironic sexism is still sexism... And the only queer coloured character was also the only queer character to be humilliated and kicked out of her house by her own family.

Yeah, I have some unresolved issues with Glee.

Oh yeah, I definitely don't consider it progressive xD There's still a lot of unfortunate stereotyping and I don't think it really pays enough attention to the deeper aspects of gay issues to really be considered "progressive." I actually specifically tried to shy away from mentioning that word in my post. But one must admit that its portrayal of gay characters currently has a lot of cultural significance. Either way, I watch more for the music and the silliness than for the serious stuff anyway. It's really not well-written enough for me to take it that seriously xD

I like the third season a lot better than the second, but from the little bit I've seen of the fandom this season that's probably an unpopular opinion. I personally think the second season pandered to shippers and made way too much relationship drama and that made the show stray a bit too far from its original intentions. There were so many unnecessary relationships and love triangles that only seemed to be there to create more ship wars, as though the fandom didn't have enough of those already @__@ (like Sam and Santana? What was even the point of that?) There's still relationship drama in the third season, but at least they've learned to make plots about things besides random relationships.

(Also, this is more of a nitpick than anything else because you do make very good points, but Santana wasn't kicked out of her house- she said her parents actually had no problem with her coming out. It was just her grandmother who said she wanted nothing to do with her anymore. Also, Karovsky, a white male, had to deal with a lot of humiliation and bullying when he was outed).

I'm a Gleek. I don't like every decision that was made by the writers, but I love the music numbers and the characters are interesting.

Yeah, it was sad when Blaine and Kurt broke up, but Blaine did cheat on Kurt...

Oh yeah, that remark by Kurt about bisexuality was so wrong. I had forgotten about that. Glee does have flaws, I won't argue there.

and OMG, yesterday's episode. i loved the Kiki song!

I know a lot of people don't like Glee, but I've loved it from the begining! Sure they mess up a lot of songs, but for the most part the show is pretty good! Ahh I was surprised when tehy played Fantastic Baby by BigBang on the latest episode, but I wasn't pleased with Gangnam Style, I feel like they're just going along with it because of it popularity in the public. But I'm thankful they had Tina sing most of the song XD

My mom is a big fan and I watched episodes of season one with her and that's how I got hooked on it. Sue and Kurt were my favorites going in and were part of the reason I decided to sit down and watch it with her. Over time I grew to love all the characters for what they brought to the show. I know a lot of fans tend to say the show decreased in quality after season one but I personally enjoy season two the most so far. I have all three seasons on DVD now.

i liked season 3 as well. and i'm enjoying season 4. but i do think rachel and kurt should have their own spin off.

i hate to be the one to do this... Cory Monteith - who played Finn Hudson - was found dead earlier today in a hotel in Vancouver. he was 31 years old and the COD was allegedly drug overdose.

i'm too shocked.

I found out from a VA Celeb I follow on twitter. I'm in utter shock as well.

i found out on tumblr. i thought i was a hoax but then whitehexe (a girl who used to be around here at the forums) confirmed the death. that was all before the vancouver pd confirmed it. when they did, i couldn't believe it.

When I saw the VA Celeb tweet about it, I immediately checked multiple sources through Google.

What's sickening is that on Tumblr there are "fans" who are more concerned about, and I quote, “NOW WE’LL NEVER GET A PROPER ENDING TO FINCHEL!"


A person. A real life person just ODed after trying so hard to over come his addiction again and all you can (censor) think about is not getting a proper ending for a FICTIONAL COUPLE?!

I hated Finn with a passion ever since the 2nd half of Season 1. I love him in the Front 13, but hated him beyond that.

But even I never wished for Cory to have died so soon. Because he's an actor it's his job. In videos I've seen of him, he is nothing like his character. The Glee Fandom is very sickening in it's own way.

Apparently he and Lea were dating? I don't know since I pulled out of the Glee fandom I basically blacklisted anything and everything Glee.

yeah, they were dating or engaged or something like that. i can't even being to feel the pain this woman is feeling right now.

I hope she's with family or close friends right now.

It just makes me sick to see these people on the web talking trash about a death person, it's just NOT right. As you said, not liking his character it's a completely different thing.

I can only imagine how his family and friends are feeling right now. But yeah, poor Lea.

His friends and family tried so hard the first time he was abusing drugs that they intervened and that's how he got help the first time. I would not be surprised if the stress of Glee was a factor into this. 

I seriously wish for a Do-Over button for yesterday for multiple reasons.

People need to stop jumping to conclusions. An autopsy hasn't even been performed so there's nothing yet official to say his death was drug related. That said, I don't follow Glee fandom. I don't know anything about the actors outside their roles, but I still think it's silly to claim something as fact when it isn't. And even if it does turn out to be drug related that's no just cause to insult the man, or anyone for that matter.

And I couldn't care less about Glee right now. I'll probably be among a fair minority who honestly wouldn't complain if they chose to recast the character of Finn but that's a discussion for another day.

Edit: Oh wait, you guys are talking about people who's glad he's dead because they didn't like the character.

The autopsy will be performed tomorrow or later today (depending on your time zone) and even then it will take weeks before more information from autopsy to toxicology results will be announced.

I used to be in the fandom, but pulled out early Season 3 when the writing got terrible. I don't care what the outcome for Glee is and haven't cared for nearly 2 years.

Exactly. Also if the watched videos of the actors, it appears that he definitely nothing like his character! That's something I don't like about other people, they don't understand that actors and actresses are not necessarily like their characters.

I'm not a Glee fan, but honestly, this shocked and saddened me alot. I watched the first few episodes and I really liked his character, though it was just me (probs) that thought that he always looked really sad behind the eyes.
 I guess that's just how it goes, but it's a real shame. He looked like a really good person.
