| Why did Dic completely change this song on the Sailor Moon soundtrack? In the TV show, it was actually a very nice, soothing and relaxing song that I loved a lot, but on the cd, for some reason, they changed it to a completely different song and it ended up sounding like some horrible pseudo-country song or something. Did they lose the master copy of the original and had to make up a new song completely? Did they really think Sailor Moon fans would prefer this horrid new song over the original version or that kids wouldn't notice the songs were different? |

| Only A Memory Away was originally an English song that was put into Ami's scene to replace the Japanese song that was there. Onaji Namida wo Wakeatte (Sharing the Same Tears) was the song that was played in the Japanese episode. Perhaps you mean why did they replace the Japanese song and not why they changed it into Only A Memory Away? |

| I know what you are talking about. During the episode the song ‘”Only A Memory Away” has a different beat than to the one on the CD. Episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEVQe6AAnEU

| That is so awesome, Orion! I looked it up on Youtube but came up empty handed - or so I thought. I was completely unaware because I have not listened to the episode in years and when I listened to the song on youtube (the cd version) I did not realize that I was listening to a different version. I think I prefer the episode's version to the cd. ^^ The cd is too bouncy, as Genesis said. Thank you for pointing that out, you two! |

That could be a good reason why. I know that when my ear is trained to a certain version of a song, any other version just sounds weird, despite if they are better or not. I have not listened to any of the Sailor Moon English cds, so I only know these songs from the episodes. Now I am curious if I am missing out on anything else. O.o |

| Not really. xD Some of the songs on the CDs i don't remember being in the show. But, you can download the CDs from SailorMusic.net and i also have them ripped onto my computer. The only CD i was missing was the Full Moon Collection which actually included a few BGM tracks. |

| I've always wondered about the radical difference as well. I mean I know they completely re-recorded all of the 9 full-length songs for the first album (seriously, compare them against the episode versions; different takes), but "Only a Memory Away" was radically changed. I love both versions, but I love the TV version more. The album version is too country.
Fun fact: Unlike the rest of the singers on the two albums, Amy's singer, Shandi Cinnamon, is a bit of a "name". Here are some other, perhaps surprising, songs that she sang prior to "Only a Memory Away":
