This is a general topic for discussing the many actors and actresses who were involved in the musicals. We're mostly going to focus on their Sera Myu work, but discussion of their activities before or after is cool too as long as it doesn't get too off topic. Talk about your favorites, who made the best Sailor So and So in your opinion, and anything else that strikes your fancy about them.

There are a few actors and actresses who have caused controversy in the fandom, so please remember to be respectful of others' opinions. That goes without saying obviously, and I think you guys are awesome enough that I don't have too much to worry about in that regard. <3

Notable actors/actresses-



Yuu Shirota (currently going by the name U) is arguably the most successful actor to come from the Myu, at least out of the ones still active today. He played Mamoru from 2003-2004 in four different musicals. Also, he's sort of really fricking beautiful? After Sera Myu, he starred in the Prince of Tennis musicals for a while (which are supposedly really good and filled with gorgeous boys like Yuu, but I haven't seen them myself so don't take my word for it). A couple months ago he kicked off his solo singing career in Japan- you can watch the videos from his first single here.



Chieco Ochi (formerly known as Chieco Kawabe) played Sailor Mercury from 2001-2002 in five different musicals. She's not too active now because she's married and raising a child, but she's known among the fandom for performing not only as Ami in the musicals but also as Naru in PGSM! This makes her one of few performers who have actually been in more than one version of Sailor Moon. The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Keiko Han? She also had a short-lived career as an idol singer; one of her singles was Sakura Kiss, the ending theme to Ouran High School Host Club.



Atsuki Ishiguro was in the two Mugen Gakuen musicals as part of a musical-only group called the Grimmseijin, aliens whose planet was wiped out by the Death Busters (basically, wacky Infinity Arc Starlights). I'm pretty much only mentioning her because she spent a short period of time in AKB48, a popular idol group that's REALLY huge in Japan right now. She got fired before she could really get a chance to shine though :c The rumor is that she broke the strict no boyfriends rule that all idols have to adhere to.

Anza was my favorite Moon, but I learned to love the others in time. All of the actresses/actors were unique in their own way and I learned to like them all. I enjoyed Chieco simply because I had seen her in PGSM and was amused with that. It's really hard for me to choose favorites of any of them because I get stuck on one and then they change actresses/actors on you and then you get used to the new ones. Gosh, I am trying to go through them and narrow down favorites and cannot. I want to go watch them all in order now and compare them! XD. They are not fresh on my mind, but I know there were some that stood out more to me.

I've only watched musicals from the first stage and fourth stage. I'd have to say I love Anza as moon for her singing ability, but i think Miyuki does a good job in looks and just how cute she is.

I want to say the girl that played Sailor Luna in PGSM was also in one of the Myu's. I wanna say she played Chibi-Usa at some point? I don't remember now.

Agreed fully about Anza's singing, that is why I like her so much ^^ Miyuki is definitely cute! --Ooh I did not know about that girl though. Makes me wanna check into that. I love that girl; she is so adorable!!

Rina Koike wasn't in the musicals xD

I loved Miyuki though. I think she was the best of the four in terms of looking like Usagi... but I just can't get over that voice :c There were some songs where she sounded good though, like Ginga no Sanctuary. Her personality and dancing were great, so I think she was an all around good Moon c:

My favorite Moon is Marina <333 In order of me liking them it goes Marina > Anza > Miyuki > Fumina, but I loved them all.

I don't know their names but i think the first stage starlights were really awesome. My first musical was the Starlights Ryuusei Densetsu from the 4th stage. Then I watched the Starlights one from the 1st stage and wow. Their singing ability i think is much better.

I have to say the Pluto that plays in Shin Densetsu Kourin makes me stare because her ears! >_< I cannot say anything though because my ears are huge and stick out too. XD

Personally, I think all of the Moons brought something different to the table. Anza was a great singer and really portrayed the cutesy, innocent side of Usagi well, Fumina was also a great singer and made for a wonderful Neo-Queen Serenit, Miyuki was a great dancer, nailed Usagi's personality, and looked to most like Usagi in my opinion, and Marina was a great dancer and her singing and acting improved over time. I find it really difficult to choose a favourite Moon since I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses. ^^

And yes, I agree. The First Stage Starlights are amazing and Second Stage does not even come close! To be honest, I couldn't stand the Starlights in the anime, but Sayuri, Hikari, and Momoko made me really appreciate their characters. Granted, the musical incarnations of the Three Lights were slightly different than the anime, but my point remains.

I haven't quite finished the musicals yet, so I can't compare all of the actors. I only have a few productions left! ;D

This is kind of random, but...the girl who played Sailor Jupiter in PGSM...is she the one who played Sailor Jupiter in 2002? (I feel silly for not knowing her name nor the musical exactly, but I was watching a random one today and noticed they look a looot alike, but her Wiki page showed nothing....)

Myuu Azama, the actress who portrayed Sailor Jupiter/Makoto Kino in PGSM, did not appear in any of the musicals.

Who are your favourite Performers? Singers? Dancers? Actors?

Personally I feel that the award for best Performer needs to be someone who stayed for a couple of shows, for best overall acting, dancing and singing combined would be ~

Zoisite -Ryou Saika    She played Zoisite the best, i think i only seen one other with Zosite, (i know there is more then two, just has not gotten to it yet)   there was something how she presented herself as Zoisite which made it better

Alright, so I just started with the Myus (only watched 5 musicals until now) but from what I saw now these are my favorites:

- Nao Takagi (my absolute favorite, I just love her!)
- Anza Ooyama
- Hikari Ono
- Sanae Kimura
- Rei Saitou

To me, the best Moon is still Anza. She had the best singing voice, was a great dancer and her acting was simply amazing. I also love the warmth in her portrayal. I also like Miyuki and Marina a lot, they were so adorable and energetic (not that Anza wasn't cute, but in a different way). Marina really did a great job on dancing and Miyuki just nailed the character with her portrayal. I never really warmed up to Fumina or Satomi though, but it's not that I don't like them. And honestly, Fumina and Amano still have the best chemistry as Usagi and Mamoru.

As for Uranus, I like Nao, but my favorite is still Sanae. I love how she brings the feminine, almost motherly side Haruka had in the Manga into the musicals. She is so elegant and her voice is beautiful. I also liked Akiko and Nao. Wasn't that fond of Ayako, but she was okay, I guess.
As for her and Tomoko, they weren't completely unfitting, but watching them portray UraNep, I always felt something was kinda... off.

As for the Starlights, I'm generally more a fan of the First stage Starlights because they made me care for the trio at all, but I don't mind Marina's group either. I think Akiko was a great Fighter, Mikako also did a decent job as Healer, but Chinatsu had the same problem as Ayako and Tomoko- just that she had it in every role. I didn't like her Mistress 9 either.


As for other controversy... I happened to experience kind of a gap between fans that prefer the old Myus and those who prefer the new ones. Especially when it comes to actors, namely Tuxedo Kamen. I once had an hour-long discussion with a girl that didn't seem to accept that I don't like Yamato Yuuga as Tux and that my favorite is Amano Kousei. All she did was whining how weird she though Amano's voice was and how awesome Yuuga is. I never said Yuuga is a bad actor or anything, on the contrary, I even praised her, but I still don't like her portrayal fo the character.

I'm actually *slightly* disappointed with Yuuga I have to say! I had seen the Gyakuten Saiban musical starring Tomu Ranju and Hikaru Nanaho just before watching La Reconquista and Yuuga seemed comparatively quite feminine... (Still hot but do y'know what I mean??) Maybe it's the make-up??? She also surprised me with how much vibrato she uses. Could be the style of songs she was stuck with though...

Also just wanted to give some serious love to the woman that played Beryl in the same musical. Her singing was SUPER expressive imo and she just really encompassed the character well. (Though I haven't watched any other Myu that features Beryl so I have no comparison lol.)

I'm gonna sit here and declare my undying love for Amour Eternal's Amazon Trio..

In all seriousness though, all the actors that are/have been involved with Myu have brought their own thing to the characters. AS THE PHOTO SAYS.... LOVE ALL THE MYU ACTORS.

I still haven't watched Amour Eternal (nor UNV) but if they are anything like the old Myu Trio then I think I'll enjoy them. I heard a clip of one of their songs and it sounded pretty ok to me I'm just not a huge fan of the style of music for the new myus >.>.

Looking back at my old posts in this thread, I don't think I ever came back and gave thoughts since I've watched all the musicals. xD

I'm a bit of a Hikari Ono fangirl and I looove Yuuta Mochizuki as Mamoru but even more as King Endymion and he's just dreamy as Count Dracul. I can never truly pick a favorite Moon actress for the old myu because they all have their good points and bad points. I love them all really buuuuut I think when I think hard enough I end up going with Miyuki. She just had a great spunky Usagi who could do wonderful emotional and mature scenes too, especially considering the musicals she's in. Those are feels city. xD

I really really like the first Leah Ruby, Kanako Yamamoto. Her singing and acting abilities were top notch. Just listen to Ruby no Aka ~ Yume wo Kaimasu Shima no Tabi and 5000nen Kaguya Shima. They are amazing.

Oh! And Kazuko Ono, who performed as Death Lamia in the first Dracul musical. She's really great too! Muma no Odori isn't my most favorite song or anything but her performance of it is very hypnotizing and just great.

I could probably go on forever cause im forgetting about that one Jupiter I really like and a couple Mars actresses xD
