I'm not a fan, though I have a ton of friends who absolutely adore it to the heavens.

I WAS THE SAME WAY. I had a very hard time letting go of Ten, haha. Although I loved Eleven, too. I need to catch up on the second half of the newest season, but I'm finding this one a bit harder to get into. It's not Peter Capaldi, because he's great, but the first few weren't that great...

One of my Who friends said it gets better towards the end, but I still have yet to watch it all. I didn't like 11 much and its not so much that he was a bad Doctor, I just didn't like the writting and the way it was handled. I much preferred Davies as head writer than Moffat.

I'll admit that I did cry a bit. That ending was intense.
Spoiler:
And I will.

I think I got really attached to Rose cause it took me about a month to be ready to watch the next season...Though Martha totally was awesome and I love her. She's one of my fav companions.

I have finished Season 4. The drums! I miss Tennant already. I thought I would cry but I didn't; I really suck. Maybe it was because I barely understood what was going on. XD

LOL I think I cried more in Doomsday than when Tennant left.
However I watched this fanmade video not long after and for some reason it left me bawling. xD

Yay, a Doctor Who thread! As many people have noticed, I chose my username because my love of Doctor Who is second only to my love of Sailor Moon There haven't been any new posts on this thread in a while though. Hopefully we can get it going again! What do you guys think about Steven Moffat's announcement that he is stepping down as showrunner after Series 10? I think it's great news, and hopefully this will take Doctor Who in a really cool new direction and give some more life to the show. Chris Chibnall seems like a really good guy for the job, especially considering his previous work on Doctor Who and Torchwood. He is also the creator of Broadchurch, which I had heard of before and am now considering watching (bonus: it's got David Tennant in it!). The huge bad news though is that there won't be ANY NEW EPISODES OF DOCTOR WHO THIS YEAR except for a Christmas special--Series 10 won't begin airing until Spring 2017! I was really disappointed when I heard the news... What do you guys think about all the new changes coming to Doctor Who?

Oh wow! I know some people like Moffatt...but honestly ever since he took over as head writer for Season 5, I slowly began to lose interest in the show and now I'm at the point where I'm about a season or two behind because I just wasn't liking the show anymore. Which is a bummer because I kinda like Clara as a companion and i don't think Peter is a bad Doctor (i like him more than matt smith), but I just wasn't getting into the episodes much. I don't like Moffatt's style at all as show runner. Which is nuts because some of my fav episodes from Davies time were the ones Moffatt did. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I sure hope the changes are for the better!

I like Steven Moffat, but after Season 4, something about the show, just... Changed. Like it became more melodramatic. Not like there wasn't drama before, it's just like the whole atmosphere of it changed. Honestly if you ask me I think Sherlock is where Moffat's best work is. I really need to finish Series 9...

I totally agree! After Moffat took over, the atmosphere started to become similar to Sherlock's, but I don't think that was the right choice for Doctor Who--the steadily dark mood and confusing storylines are a much better fit for Sherlock in my opinion. I think this was especially evident in Series 9--toward the end of the series you'll see the episodes get strangely dark and confusing (especially "Heaven Sent"!). As for Series 9 overall, it personally wasn't my favorite series, but I do strongly recommend watching it/finishing watching it as it contains a number of very important plot points pretty much throughout the season (and one very important flashback!). I definitely recommend watching the Christmas special as well; it was a really nice change of pace since it was much more upbeat than Series 9 and had a lot of both sweet and funny moments between the Doctor and River.

I'm glad River came back (or alternately, appeared for the first time?). I always liked her.

I loved Capaldi as the doctor! He was a breath of fresh air since we've had young actors play the past two doctors. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just feel that its time to return to a more mature doctor.
As for the story, I like the melodramatic nature of the show in the sense that it allows us to see the Doctor's growth as a character. Heaven Sent was definitely evident in this fact since we actually got to see the Doctor in pain the more he went into his psyche. Its second part, Hell Bent was a bit less in-depth but I did find it interesting to see exactly how far the doctor could go to save Clara.
Other than those episodes I LOVED the arc with Me (Ashildr), she was just an excellent way to introduce the truth of immortality and how it isnt as grand as we make it seem. The Doctor seemed so understanding since he himself is borderline immortal despite the fact that he himself caused her suffering.
Oh and the Christmas Special with River was bomb! River's reaction to twelve was priceless!!! x3

Doctor Who Season 5 is where I started watching the show. Matt Smith is and always will be my Doctor. I liked Moffat's writing fine for the most part and prefer Season 5 & 6 to RTD stuff any day of the week (Come at me, brah!). Though even I can admit he overstayed his welcome a tad and it seems after what felt like two big seasons he kind of burnt out or something. Season 7 was all right, but I finally lost all interest in watching the show by Season 8. Only tuned into Season 9 because Maisie Williams was a guest star.
