I remember where all my information about the forum scavenger hunt is... it's all in the admin-only section of my old guild from the other website-- the place where I "rage-quit" from. >.<; And since I'm not touching that place with a ten-foot pole ever again, I'm going to say there's no getting all that back.

But that's fine, because I remember the gist of it.

As I said before, I never completed the plans for the scavenger hunt because as I was getting my crew together to discuss it and formulate ideas for how to implement it, things on that website went south and I quit. So here I'll just mention the basic idea for how it worked in my head and fill in a few gaps the best I can as I go.

Each forum in my guild was assigned a different crew member (much the same as things are here). When a new member was accepted, whichever crew member accepted that person was to send a PM welcoming that person and sending him to the main forum to post an introduction thread (this is the first or second task). Once a thread was posted, that crew member would send a small virtual gold or item grant, plus another PM letting the person know he could go on to the next task. I don't remember which tasks specifically or what order, but it involved posting at least a reply to someone's thread (if I had to, I would set up a thread specifically for the newbies in order to prevent derailing/ disrupting someone's thread in case they didn't want people posting in it) in every forum. It would go on, with each respective crew member sending the newbie off on the next task one by one until completion, when the newbie would win virtual gold and/ or a bundle of items of a certain value.

SailorNewbie123 sends a join request, and I (or another crew member) accept. I send SailorNewbie123 a PM welcoming her into the forum, instructing that she familiarize herself with rules (there was to be a "hidden question" somewhere in the midst of a random paragraph stating to post a code word or phrase (for example, "Reply with a post saying your favorite color, plus the words "Sonic Screwdriver"), and then send her on her first mission: go to the Headquarters (main/ front page) forum and post a thread introducing herself. (Maybe supply three questions for the person to answer as a prompt, in case she's shy.) After she posts her introduction thread, she must send me a PM stating that she has completed.

Now I send her a small gold award, and then I send her a PM to go to a thread called "Who is your favorite Sailor Senshi?" to post a reply. (Thread exists so that everyone and their grandmother doesn't post that thread as a duplicate, as was common on that site. Also helps to establish whether the person was actually a SM fan interested in this forum, as trolling and "dummy" accounts were common on that site.) Again, after she does so, she has to PM me with a link to that reply. Now, SailorNewbie123 knows how to post a new thread, post a reply on an existing thread, and how to link to a bookmarked post in a thread. Then, it's time to get SailorNewbie123 to a new forum-- we'll say it's moderated by SailorModerator.

SailorModerator's task for SailorNewbie123 is to post in the Role Play forum (since RPs were a major attraction here). ((Actually, this would be one of the last tasks, as it tended to be the most complicated and require the most creative energy, but you get the idea.)) All she has to do is "walk into" the "Secret Titan Soldiers HQ" thread and do something simple (OP contained general instructions), like taking an offered cupcake, and if she wanted to, she could continue chatting with other members there, go to the training room and spar with other Sailor Senshi, or whatever she was comfortable with. As long as she posted an in-character post, she was good to be sent to the next task in a different forum (modded by a different crew member).

Each time SailorNewbie123 completed a task, the moderators would post in a thread in the Crew-Only forum when that task was completed to satisfaction. This was a way to ensure that A) all crew members were active, and B) members were following the rules.

- Can we work in a points system alongside this? Or a different prize/ award-based system?
- Because the theme is "scavenger hunt", can we include little things for them to find? (Perhaps "favorite color + Sonic Screwdriver" counts as a hidden item? Or should we make up something to go across forums? Count the number of times a single word was written in a specific color/ capitalized/ whatever, and string them together into a secret sentence to PM to an admin/ crew member? Are there multiple secret messages, and the newbie is randomly given one to ensure nobody cheats and skips some of the steps?)
- How do we do this in a way that generates genuine interest in the guild, but without overwhelming or boring new members?
- Should we set a minimum or maximum time? For instance, no more than one task can be completed in a day, in order to prevent abuse of the system? ((This is more specific to that website, as abuse of the system was fairly easy/ common.)) This would give new members either seven or so days spent overall on the scavenger hunt. ((In other words, points were awarded for tasks one day at a time, but SailorNewbie123 could still post actively in certain forums as much as she liked during those first few days, but the rest of her posts wouldn't go towards points, only the ones assigned for the scavenger hunt.))
- What do we do to keep members active after they have completed the scavenger hunt?
- Should the scavenger hunt be voluntary or mandatory?

I did also come up with an idea that's similar to the "Lotus Crystal" status on here, but more for bragging rights than actual functionality (absent any forum coding skills, anyway). I imagined each member could have been able to begin with a basic Sailor Senshi transformation item, and gradually after reaching certain milestones, that item can "evolve" and become more powerful, or another item can be earned. ("Congratulations! You've acquired a Star Power Transformation Locket!" "Congratulations! You've acquired a Disguise Pen!") The idea was to have sort of generic items to more-or-less fit with anyone's identity, but specific items (Luna-P, Moon Chalice, Neptune's Mirror) could also be available for special occasion. There could even be villain items, like the Black Malefic Crystal earrings. I've even considered blank images of the generic items (like the transformation pens) so the member could color it in herself, tailored to her own Sailor Senshi. (This would seem to work best for people whose ID is some form of Sailor Senshi, as opposed to, say, a knight, villain, or non-Sailor Moon-related character.) There could even be animated versions of each item ("Sparkling Star Wand!") for "extra effort" in a certain area or something.
