- My favorite anime and manga is, to the surprise of no one, Sailor Moon. I was introduced to it by an older kid at daycare when I was just starting school. (She always made me play Chibiusa because I was the youngest). That same friend bought me a few VHS tapes for my birthday, and I rented a few from Blockbuster when I could find them, too. Starting around 6th-7th grade I after school I would beg my parents to let me stay at my grandma's house for the thirty minutes directly after I got dropped off by the bus to watch the show on Cartoon Network, since we didn't have cable at home.
In the middle of 8th grade we found out my mom had cancer, and I had to live with my grandma for a few years. I was in a rough spot mentally, I had never been all that healthy physically, and they had just moved me schools so making friends was a challenge. Watching S around that time was very important to me, because I related so much to Hotaru. Growing up and moving out allowed me the freedom to watch the entirety of the anime and actually read the manga, and I fell in love even more. This grew into my love of the various RPG toys, trying to buy all of Hotaru's merch, and getting exposed to PGSM and the musicals.
Even though the fandom isn't as big as it used to be, I'm still happy to have found a home at GC and friends in its members. I hope the community continues to grow in the move to Discord. Let's all give a warm congratulations! ^.^ |
