It's Usagi of course! I needed a model when I was playing around with this dress up game. She looks a little messy... maybe she should have held still when her mother was tying her obi!

I'll admit-I was frustrated when I made this. Not at the contest or the game, but just in general. So at first I decided to go for the angriest looking kimono design! Now, Kimonos aren't exactly made to represent wrath, so I ended up going with a mature look-the kind of look that would make people be able to admire from afar, but be too intimidated to approach. Kind of like that sophisticated yet strict woman-like how I'd imagine the important adult head-of-a-cut-throat enterprise would be. The kind of person who may actually be fed up and not want to be there since they have other important things to attend to, but was forced to go to make the company look good upon arrival. It would be suspicious of someone of such high reputation not attending, after all!
This is the kind of outfit someone would wear when they're coldly yet stoically holding themselves in a high and a "better then you/too important for this" manner . You wouldn't want to be the person who'd be excited for the festivities and, while running to the next booth-to literally run into her. She'll scoff at you and chew you out for acting so immature-regardless of how old you are.

I attempted Setsuna.  I don't know much about kimonos but I wanted to dress her up in something simple.

This is the exact opposite of the previous design I posted. It is literally everything the other design isn't! It's happy, lighthearted, fresh and fun-perfect for running back and forth between the trees with friends. Making this one made me crave sweets really, really badly.

So, here is Setsuna. I wanted to dress her up, because why not. I wanted to use mostly red in her clothing, though, but I didn't like any of red patterns, so this is what it turned out to be. Honestly, it's not something I like, so I'd say it turned out bad.

So I decided to make a kimono for Rei, who is determined to look mature and elegant with to her friends.  Not to mention that she is going outclass any random girl who happens to be in the same area as her.  I went with reds both because I was kind of feeling like going with the flow and because I liked the combination of colors.  Also, I figured it matched the comb I wanted to use as a hair ornament.    

Ahhh I always look forward to these dress up games :3. I loved looking through this gallery *_*. You guys are so creative! I gotta give kudos to Cosmos-Hime especially 'cause those kawaii designs are tough to make a nice finished product with and your Makoto looks great! Someone commented earlier in the thread that there's not a whole lot of choice for patterns and I'll agree, though I feel like I can always find one that I can at least work with by using the other parts of the kimono/accessories/hair to bring the outfit together... But the limited solid color selector still frustrates me from time to time XD.

I did Ami-chan for last year's contest, so I decided to indulge and do TWO Minako dolls this year! Here's the first one:



Minako would never actually wear this XDD. BUT, I do imagine her using it to disguise herself for an important mission! She's just busted down the doors of some not-so-above-board boarding house and made a speech for justice! Now, she's ready to transform into Sailor V and kick butt!! Cause I mean, how the heck are you gonna fight in that thing? XD And the silly shiba inu poster in the background couldn't help remind me of all the random hilarity and jokes in Codename: Sailor V :p.

I'm willing to bet the tassel hanging from her obi is probably not being used appropriately somehow (though a quick search was not enough for me to find its traditional significance) but it made the image more 'complete' imo ^^;;. So here we are lol.

I gave it another try.  This time with Jupiter  .

I did Chibiusa and Hotaru! I imagined them sort-of twinning, but with their own spin on the designs. I put them in the shorter yukata to highlight their youthfulness.

I decided to make Usagi for my second one, because I almost never do anything with poor Usagi, and I felt like I've been abandoning her.  So I decided to do pink for her, since that is kind of a tradition for her.  Also, I really liked the prints, so I decided to play around until I thought I could do both together and still have it look nice.  Also, I thought Usagi would want to wear something that she could look good in beside Mamoru, who I assume would be wearing something dark and simple.  For some reason, all of my characters' considerations include what other people would be wearing.

And now for something I can actually imagine Minako wearing in real life!



Speaking of being frustrated by the color selector... I found it really difficult to choose an accent edge and obi color for this doll OTL. I like the greens and blues that I've seen as obi for Minako in both the anime and Naoko's artbook images, but there wasn't really one that complimented the main orange tone in this pattern sadly... But I'm happy enough with how it turned out! There's some inspiration from the episode when she worked the goldfish booth and some from the artbook images which have her in more elaborate patterns than the anime.


...Now that I look at it again, I really should have stuck her bow behind her head. Something like this:

But her smile is so cute it made me want to put it at the front LOLOL. I don't think she's gonna like that I made her look so much younger that way woops ^^;.

I tried to do Makoto but had trouble with the hair and limited colors

With today being one of the last days of the festival, I thought I'd give this another go, and cause I was bored, of course. Anyways, here's Minako.  I wanted to do a more light-hearted character rather than more serious ones like Haruka and Setsuna, that I styled before. I thought I'd make her kimono orange and blue, the image of the girls in kimonos in the manga sort of inspired me, though I can't remember if her kimono on there was blue and orange or yellow and orange. Well anyways, what you can choose from is still pretty limited, but maybe I fared okay with this one? I'll probably think differently about that in a few seconds. Well, even though I said it didn't turn out how I wanted it to, and it didn't and it's nothing good, I think my Haruka design is my favourite of the three. Anyways, without futher ado, here she is.

You can press  Windows+PrtScn then paste it to a paint/graphic program either online or on your computer. 

I know that the dollmaker didn't provide an endless array of options, but it looks like some of our intrepid members created some interesting outfits despite those limitations! Thanks for trying your best!
