Hi everyone! I wanted to make a thread about Mamoru and Rei who are one of my favorite couples. Don't worry I am still a fan of Mamoru and Usagi, but I am also a fan of Mamoru and Rei too. It's too bad that Mamoru and Rei only dated in the 90's Anime and that their romantic relationship didn't last long. It would have been nice if they dated in the Manga and Crystal too, but everyone knows that Mamoru can only be with Usagi in the Manga and Crystal. Anyway if anybody is a fan of MamoRei, you can talk about them on this thread. Even if anyone is not a fan of MamoRei and you still want to talk about them you can, but please talk about them in a positive manner.

They look so adorable together and it would have been nice if their relationship lasted longer too, but it's alright. At least Rei got a chance to date Mamoru in the 90s Anime for a while.

Is anybody else a fan of this couple? If yes, then that's awesome! If no, then that's okay because everyone has their own opinions.

Hmm I wouldn't say I'm a fan but I did find it an interesting addition to the 90s anime thats absent everywhere else. Also its kinda funny how its really all one sided with Mamoru being completely oblivious to her and just seeing both her and Usagi as just almost little sister type friends.

It also added an interesting dynamic between Usagi and Rei as a way to bond after the identity reveal, but then not much is done with that after wards. Much like a lot of little plot points in SM XD

Yeah I agree that it was very interesting and refreshing for Mamoru and Rei to become a couple in the 90s Anime for a while, plus it makes the 90s anime a lot different from the manga and crystal too. That is true that Rei and Usagi really did start to become really good friends when everything is explained and that Rei knows about Mamoru and Usagi's romantic relationship back in the Silver Millennium.

I feel like I saw a decent number of fics back in the day that actually explored Rei's feelings about Usagi and Mamoru post-identity-reveal. I don't really know what else they would have done with that plot point though tbh? I guess maybe at least joke about it in future seasons?

In any case, I'm not particularly a fan of Mamoru x Rei... Though funny enough I think their personalities would match more in the manga than in the anime if they were made a couple there XD.

That is true and yeah I agree that Mamoru and Rei's relationship would have been much better developed in the manga since their personalities are alike.

I read that article and it brought a lot of interesting points about the whole Mamoru and Rei relationship in the 90s anime.
