This is a thread for all members to be able to ask questions (of a personal nature, not GC related) of all the staff members of GC. You may ask us any questions that you may like, which can range from serious, personal, advice-seeking or whatever random curiousity that may tickle at your finger tips!

Why this thread?
Sometimes there is a separation between members and the Staff. While we strive to not let this happens, it's a bit unavoidable. This is a large growing forum after all! Several of you who started at the beginning of the Galaxy Cauldron had the chance to get to know many of us on a more personal level. However, as the Galaxy Cauldron has grown, there are many of you who have not had that chance.

One of the many important aspects of the Galaxy Cauldron is to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease with one another -- this goes for your interactions with the Staff as well. We do not want you to feel awkward or uncomfortable around us or that we are on an untouchable level separate from the rest of those here at the GC (cause we are not and normal people just like you guys ).


How will this thread work?

Basically, just state who the question is for in bold and in whatever color you choose (just make it stand out). We (the Staff) will try to get to your questions when we can!

hey, i loved your questions, Hikari =)

well, as most people know, i'm a huge super sentai, metal hero and kamen rider fan and i started watching these when i was three years old. afterwards, saint seiya premiered in the local tv. it was great, but i missed seeing a girl in action. then, i met serena and her friends. i first watched episode 45 and i was totally hooked. the year was 1996. i fell in love with lita, and until today she is my favorite senshi.

anyway, the feeling of having girls to represent me as super heroes. later on, i just never stopped liking them and i started calling them by their japanese names and all.

now, about the realm of sm: it was anime, but as a grown up, pgsm got me back into the fandom, as i was starting to slip away from it.

Hmm... I know I watched some episodes in the early mornings when I was WAYYYY little, but around the age of 10 my mother began a full time job in the mornings. Because of this, she wasn't around when I would get ready for school and wait for the "school van" that would take me to school. Although I was alone, I lived in a safe apartment building meant for single women, so I was safe since other people lived in the building.

Anyway, sometimes she would work doubles around the holidays, so I was left alone at night during busy days. I would sit alone and watch the Sailor Moon movies I had over and over that I would rent from Hollywood Video. I rented them because I was trying to get into the Anime fandom and they seemed pretty cool and I vaguely remembered them from when I wayyyy little. For Christmas I got all the dolls, (which were lost in storage >_> but that is another story in general). I soon began buying random DVDs from Walmart and I would rewatch those all the time too.

Some of the other younger kids in my building used to make fun of me because I wouldn't go out and do "risky" things because I would want to just watch Sailor Moon..... low and behold a lot of them  got into bad things.....

Hikari's Questions:

1. i think it was the whole magicalness & girl power theme that brought me to the sailor moon fandom. of course there was those epic 90s cartoons back then like the ones on nick we all know and love(rugrats, hey arnold, ren & stimpy, etc) sailor moon brought some form of girl power to the 90s that some shows then didn't have. usagi and the rest of the scouts brought in a whole bunch of characters that most girls at the time could relate to and.... the whole franchise brought in a ton of cute merchandise to have like those toys for example. :3 plus the franchise got me into other animes like pokemon(and the games), and cardcaptors XD 

2. when i was little, the anime for sure. now, it's between the manga and the anime. i haven't seen much of the musicals and pgsm to decide an ultimate favorite realm. xD

Oh my, this would be a really long answer. But basically the first friend I made when I moved (i was about 11 or 12 at the time) introduced me to Sailor Moon. I was really obsessed with it at that age. Went through a small time period where I wasn't as into it and got back into it really hard core around 2009/2010.  Then EXTRA  HARDCORE when they announced the manga. I was so crazy excited. I woke up my fiance by jumping up and down on the bed yelling at the top of mylungs. He can vouch for that. xD

As far as the realm I'm hooked too... the musicals were the last part of SM that i hadn't watched all of. I went and watched a couple on my own but there were so many and I Had no clue where to start it was overwhelming. Not long after I joined gc, i met a member here (who is no longer active) and she helped me get through myu and become obsessed with them. xD So thats my story.

OH YOU.  Of course I'm not. *totally doesn't have 5 cats and her dream totally isn't to run a giant non-profit cat ranch (it would be sanctuary) and live amongst hundreds of kitties...and totally doesn't look for cats all the time in case one is of need...and doesn't constantly look at cat videos and pictures....or have a bunch of pictures of her own cats on her desk at work* No, i don't see a problem here.

What got you into Sailor Moon?
The anime, mostly. It's what introduced me to the whole thing. We got a dubbed version, but the dubbing in my country was actually pretty good as far as memory served - they didn't change anyone's names or genders or anything so I'd never known the characters as other than what they originally are. Then I bought the animanga books (the anime made into comic version basically) and thought that was the manga so I didn't actually touch the original manga for ages. But yeah, I was really into Sailor Moon in the old days and I'm experiencing that all over again now.

What about the realm of SM hooked you in?
Magical girls fighting evil with awesome attacks? Who also happen to be princesses? The romance, the friendship, everything? I just can't think about anything that doesn't draw me in immediately. As for which version I like best, it's really difficult to say as they each have their strengths and weaknesses. They are best enjoyed as a whole, really. The anime will always be dear to my heart because it's the only thing I've known for ages, but then the manga's also great, and PGSM unexpectedly wonderful, and now I'm watching the musicals I'm having a lot of feelings about them too. So yeah, all. >_>

Omg hahaha how did you know I have a crazy baby obsession?  But yeah I absolutely LOVE babies so I've probably posted it somewhere on here :)I love all things adorable, but also, I've worked in the nursery at my church for almost 6 years, so I'm just used to handling babies, so when I go to the grocery store or something and see a baby in the cart I start like making faces at it and waving at it and the mom looks at me like I'm so creepy hahaha but it's just because I love babies and I'm just used to chillin with them I guess

I honestly have no idea what got me into it as a kid. In high school, my boyfriend and I started playing the old Pokemon games, which made me want to watch the old anime in Japanese, which reminded me of Sailor Moon. I specifically remember wanting to watch the first episode just for nostalgia's sake and thinking, "I'm NOT going to get all in to Sailor Moon like I am with Pokemon, I JUST want to watch the first episode." But, needless to say, I kept going and couldn't get enough of it, which lead me to get in to online forums and whatnot, and here I am!

So I guess originally for me it was just because it was an anime that I used to be in to and it was really cute :p But what keeps me involved is the encouragement to not be afraid that you're too girly, too young, or to naive to do anything. Innocence and femininity aren't a downfall, they can make you who you are I could go on and on but I won't

What are your plans for the future?

What is my favorite vacation? I absolutely loved my trip to Washington, D.C. and I really, really want to go back again. Yeah, my foreign travel around Central America is fun, but I'm an absolute geek about national politics and news events. Also, I never got parasites, spider bites, fevers, sand fleas, or full-body rashes from poisonous plants while I was in Washington, D.C.

What got me into Sailor Moon and what about the realm of SM hooked me in? Well, I think I started watching Sailor Moon on Toonami and started collecting the manga not too long afterwards. I introduced my friends to Sailor Moon, so I had a small community around elementary/middle school. But, fan-fiction and role-playing have kept me hooked into the fandom. Both of those non-official realms open up the possibilities so wide that it is easy to get lost in the creativity.

Question for Sailor Venus:

What is your favorite season of SM?

Woot! Thanks for asking. My mind could easily change, but I like the Dark Kingdom/Black Moon Saga in the manga. I love the small glimpses we got of Crystal Tokyo and Chibiusa's life there. Also, that appears to be where the two timelines (Sailor Moon's timeline versus Neo-Queen Serenity's timeline) have the most potential for divergence. This provides an ample playground for fan-fiction and role-playing creativity. I also love the small glimpses we got of the Silver Millennium in the first season of the manga for similar reasons.

What was your favourite vacation?

Ages ago, I had a very memorable trip around the US (Disneyland, LA, Las Vegas, and ended up in San Francisco). That was awesome. I loved SF. It was one of those cities that make me wish I could live there. Unfortunately I haven't been back for a very long time.

Most recently, my first trip to London. I fell in love with a city for the second time then, and the moment I came home I decided to go to school in the UK (not in London, but close enough). I mean, a vacation has to be pretty stellar for someone to decide to move there temporarily. Both the original vacation and the subsequent school year were the best times of my life.

Well I'll have to jump on the band wagon and say Disneyworld! Everytime I went (and i went almost every year in high school because of band trip) I always had so much fun. Though I have to add, even though we didn't do a whole lot, the one out of state vacation i've taken with my fiance, was really awesome. We took it the first summer we were together and spent a few days in Galveston, TX. So we did the beach, ate a yummy restaurants, and visited Moody Gardens (an aquarium and indoor manmade rainforest place), which was really awesome.

We are both so overdue for a vacation. -_-

Hmm... Saturday Morning Cartoons! I was around 7 when the show first aired in Canada and was hooked from the start. Talking cat?! Woah my god I wanted a talking cat! Magical powers? Holy smokes I wanted magical powers! She's a crybaby? I'm a crybaby! WE WERE MEANT TO BE! ... I remember actually calling my friend (who lived only two houses down) on a commercial break in "A Crystal Clear Destiny" to gush about how we knew Serena was the Moon Princess woah this is so exciting oh my god aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! And then came the action figures. My girls have some mileage on them, I assure you. So many hours of play o_o

What hooked me in? It was my first ever anime. Magical girls, friendship, an epic romance - and then I found the manga. o__o talk about head over heels. Toss in all the astronomy stuff and completely sold.

I had a lot of fun visiting my older sister Julianne with my younger sister Kathryn; Julianne lives in DC and we did the bike share and died (it was a fabulous death filled with hills, bright red faces, and occasional bouts of 'kill me now' grumpiness. bwahahhaa), and had foodtruck cupcakes and toured around the Mall and went to the beach; Kathryn, an anthropology major (graduate now yaaay) and I went through the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and it was a blast.

Hmm... other than that, the Disney Cruise/Honeymoon was great. ^^ And Disneyworld last year was fun. ^^

Last summer I went to Munich, Germany and Salzburg, Austria with my mom, brother, aunt, and grandmother! It was the best 2 week vacation ever! My grandmother is German and it was great to the city where she lived in after the war. I got to see where she worked and lived. Plus it was just great to travel out of the country and see my heritage up close.

I literally got in from school one day and the dub was on Fox Kids, it was the episode "A Crystal Clear Destiny" and I was speechless. I'd never seen anything like it before. The very next day I got my best friend round and watched the next episode and from then on we were 100% HOOKED.
My absolute favourite part of Sailor Moon is the characterisation and friendships. I could watch those girls interact til the cows came home, and even then I'd be like "NO, COWS, GO AWAY..!!"

I am lucky in that I'm fairly well travelled (when you live in Scotland you gotta get out!!). My favourite holidays have been to Southern California and Barcelona, probably. I just love going abroad, I try to go at least twice a year.

Welp, my boyfriend is going to seminary in the fall, and when I graduate next May (when we'll be engaged or married) I'll go live with him wherever he's going, which is hopefully SMU Perkins since it's the only Methodist seminary in Texas! He's going to be ordained as a pastor in our particular conference though, which is only in a certain area, so after he's done with seminary we'll move back in that area. So while I'm with him at seminary I'm deciding whether or not I'll a) look for a job as a youth director for the few years I'll be over there with him and get some experience or b) go to seminary myself to get some further education. Anyways, once he's done, we'll move back in this area and I'll look for a more permanent job as youth director

What got you into sailor moon? What about the realm of sm hooked you? 

I started watching sm as a way to get an anime. Lol it was on between shows on toonami and over a while I got hooked. What grabbed me was the strong female characters. Like sailor moon she's a kick butt fighter when she needs to be and still the beautiful moon princess. Just wow, I didn't  have many strong female characters in my childhood.

What was my fave vacation? 
That one is a harder. My fave vacation was when I got to hold my niece for the first time. That was dec of last year.

To Sailor Mercury: What's your favorite food?

Just one? Oy, that's difficult. Well, if dessert counts, then tiramisu   Because that is a heavenly cake.

In general I love, love, love sushi and almost all types of Japanese food
