| In the manga they were perfect daimons, in the anime it was never made specifically about it.
I think based on some of their dialogues they might be humans who was willing to serve the Death Busters in exchange for power? |

| I feel as though they weren't either-why would Tomoe continue to try to create Daimons if he already had a whole bunch of them already perfect? I feel like they were literally just aliens-like the kind that possessed Tomoe (if we're talking 90s anime, that is).
Then again, I don't even remember them being stated as perfect daimons in the manga or crystal lol. I could be waaay off. |

| Yes! In the manga, the Witches 5 were considered "perfect" as well as Tomoe and Kaolinite. There, daimons I think were more like members of the Tau system that were underlings of Pharoah 90 and Mistress 9? The Death Busters wanted to get as many perfect ones as possible to essentially take over the planet. - Spoiler:
(Though that part gets murky when you consider Pharaoh 90 was then going to use the planet itself as a vessel anyways...) Maybe they were being created more like trials to ensure Mistress 9 emerged properly?
In any case, in the anime, Daimons seem to have a lesser function - just canon fodder basically. However, we do know that - Spoiler:
at least Tomoe is a Daimon (or rather, has a Daimon in him) and is definitely different than the other Daimons in the series who all fuse with objects instead of people. (His Daimon did also fuse with dolls that Tomoe had made though.)
Kaolinite could have probably been one as well? It's not really explained how Tomoe brings her back to life ^^;;. So, for the Witches 5... I think I recall that about Mimete though I'm not sure what that has to do with your topic... Are you implying she felt she had a choice to be there? It's possible she may just not be self-aware that she's a Daimon... That said, I don't remember any evidence really that makes me believe they were Daimons. I just know that after Tomoe's reveal, the possibility is there. Eudial had the ability to snatch pure hearts herself (albeit using a gun) and for a while that was a Daimon's sole purpose, so there's a similarity in function when it comes to the Witches 5... Otherwise, sadly I don't think I can draw a clear conclusion lol. Cosmos-hime's assumption of them just being aliens is definitely the most straight forward ^_~. |
