[Advanced] Senshi: Sailor Euterpe Empty
PostSubject: [Advanced] Senshi: Sailor Euterpe   [Advanced] Senshi: Sailor Euterpe I_icon_minitime6th August 2018, 6:52 pm

Advanced Character Profile
[Advanced] Senshi: Sailor Euterpe X2YG6ZG

Character Name: Euphrosyne Philomela "Meela" Rhoda
Euphrosyne "joy, mirth" (ew-frOH-zeh-nee)
Philomela "sweet singer; nightingale" (phil-oh-MEE-lah)
Rhoda "rose" (rOH-dah)
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: Appears 22; born in late spring

Used Canons: Manga worldbuilding

Appearance:
Meela is more carefree than glamorous with her looks; she does not choose spend time on her curly blonde hair, oftentimes simply leaving the waist-length mess alone, keeping it from her face with a flower crown she made herself or a hairband placed just-so so the curls don't fall into her face when she's up to her usual energetic, sometimes mischievous deeds. Rarely her hair will be completely pinned up or pinned back, decorated with her usual flowers or greenery, but it has to be for some special occasion (or really really hot) to force her to do something that extreme. She doesn't bother much with makeup, choosing to keep her pale complexion without rouge or eyeliner, though she'll occasionally be tempted into eye shadow in shades of brown or pink to pull out the darker blonde highlights of her hair. Her pale blue eyes are hardly ever sorrowful, their corners frequently crinkled in some sort of secret joy, as are often her full, pale pink lips, lips - she is sure - were made that was specifically so she could play the flute better.

Meela is of average height and frame and is slender but nowhere near fit - the most exercise she gets is flouncing around and climbing on things (atop rocks, into trees, onto friends) to meet whatever fancy makes it across her mind. Her attention shifts a good deal and she's not entirely great at concentrating, so usually big meals aren't part of the picture for her, but without excercise her frame is pleasantly soft and squishy. She prefers to wear flowing, ankle-length maxi dresses that are, if at all possible, sleeveless or the sleeves fall off of her shoulder. She doesn't like high necklines, crew necklines, or having her shoulders covered as a personal preference, so will either choose not to wear anything that constricts the movement of her upperbody or will "modify" the outfit to get it to her standards, even if her "modifying" skills are anything but professional. She likes necklaces and armbands and thick belts, but if you ever catch her without at least one flower somewhere in her hair, you've caught her straight out of bed. Flowers come first, because flowers are gorgeous, and she'll sometimes match the color and type of flower to her mood -- but usually ends up with at least one rose regardless of what else was going on.
Appearance - List form:
Insp:

Personality:
The number one thing that Meela exudes is delight. She's an eternal optimist, finding herself satisfied with life in pretty much any situation thrown at her and quickly and easily finds something that makes her happy everywhere she goes. She's quick to smile, loves to laugh, and likes to infect other people with the happiness she finds, usually through touching them to involve them or making silly faces at them (even at times that are a little inappropriate). She's perpetually cheerful and carefree, which can lead to some risk-taking behaviors that other would avoid, as - frequently - she doesn't think things through. If there's a problem, she tries to solve it as quickly as possible with the first solution that comes to mind which - if we're being honest here - isn't anything near the best solution. She's enthusiastic, though, and when a friend picks up a problem and attempts it she chooses to cheer them on and encourage them to the best of her abilities; however, her attention tends to shift from topic to topic quickly, and it has to be something really important to make her pay any attention to serious things for a long time, tending to be distracted by peripheral things that make her happy. She's considered messy and a little incompetent, but has good intentions.

In life, beyond and above even the music that is dearest to her, are her friends, even when she can't show it all that well. Her best - and her silliest - songs are inspired by them, and she uses her musical talents to attempt to cheer them up or entertain them whenever possible - she even taught herself how to play - and play well - an ancient double-flute instrument that makes her cheeks puff out ridiculously whenever she plays, just to make them smile. When her friends confide in her she'll keep a secret, but often delights in teasing them about it with inside jokes; when a friend shares something with her that makes them unhappy or made them sad, she listens but her thoughts usually shift to thinking about what she could do to make them feel better, and rather than helping solve the problem will oftentimes respond with a happy memory the two share or remind them of better times, then try to distract them with something she finds to be lighthearted or fun, or starts to make up a song on the spot about the predicament, only to turn it into a ridiculous little ditty that usually either drives the friend nuts or makes them laugh. They tend to not go to her with problems unless they just want to be distracted from them. When someone denies or otherwise frustrates Meela, they are met with a song of retribution, starring them and their act of cruelness.

Meela seems to let the hard things go, but rather than deal with them, she forces herself to forget them or bury them deep and not think about them ever. She doesn't hold grudges, takes criticism and meanness and anything that usually makes someone angry and forces herself to think of the good things to make it through. It may not be healthy, but why worry about all that when life it out there? However... Meela is the type of girl that breaks, rather than bends. She's durable, she's remarkable, but she's brittle; she just hasn't found her breaking point yet.
Personality - List Form:

Any Unique Abilities/Skills:

  • Genius with a flute
Whether the song is to be playful and light or deep and mournful, Meela hits the right tone with the touch of a true master of the instrument.
  • Plays the "Aulos" - or double flute
Most of the time it's just because she knows she can look hilarious playing it, but when she plays it seriously it can be haunting and beautiful as she plays her own duet; she accompanies other lyre players in their group with the aulos as a droning background noise that complements the piece and adds gravity to it
  • Plays the Lyre, kithara, and barbiton
  • Wonderful singer
  • Makes up her own songs, usually about happy fun things~ Nature, light, life, silly songs
  • Likes to speaks in singsong rhymes, eeeven when it starts to get annoying

History:
Euphrosyne Philomela Rhoda was born in a cottage by the sea to two loving parents that adored her the moment they met her. Their life together was not easy, but it filled with joy, as "Meela" took after her father with a love for song and a carefree determination that everything was fine and everything would be okay in the end. He taught her how to play the flute, and ere long she was sharing with him the things she found out and the techniques she used to give the music it's own life and soul. Her mother was frail and oftentimes ill - her difficulties being the reason they moved nearer the sea in the first place - and Meela would take care of the house and tend to their small farm and be her mother's little songbird until her father returned from fishing in the sea. They were happy and fulfilled for a long time. For her fifteenth birthday, her father crafted for her a lyre out of a turtle shell and catgut, just as the legends had said the first lyre was made, and as Meela went about her chores and duties, she figured out how to play the new instrument to accompany her songs. Sometimes, while singing and strumming her instrument on the beach, ships would sail closer just to hear her sing. She would flirt with some of the younger sailors when they dared to come ashore to speak with her, but she'd send them on their way when she had had her fun with them.

Her transformation into Sailor Euterpe happened the day her mother died. She was seventeen, and for the first time did not feel joy in her soul, her mourning compounded by that of her father, the strongest, happiest person she knew - her role model - who, suddenly, was not nearly as impervious as he had always seemed. As he cried over her mother's body, she did what she had always done to cheer her mother up: she played her flute. But rather than the lighthearted tunes that came so easily from her woodwind, what she played gave life to the anguish she felt, providing catharsis to she who played and he who heard and, together, they made it through the night. Neither had noticed the transformation take over her, the energy released when her song had taken on confidence and swelled for that first time; they only realized it come morning, when her mother lay buried and covered in the stones of the sea.

In time their hearts healed and, single father and daughter, they found happiness again. Her father even found love, and Meela approved, and promised to visit them in their house in town, choosing to keep her childhood home as her own and sing to the stars and play for the sea. She continued to enchant humans and creatures alike with her melodies and lyrics until, one day, another Senshi landed upon her shore. She had never seen any other like her, but when the woman in white and gold alighted upon the sands, Meela was inspired and played something new - a tune just for her, to help ease the obvious ache in her heart and the lighten weight upon her shoulders, transforming into Sailor Euterpe as the melody wore on, but even when her song was finished she felt like she could do more to bring joy into the life of this lonely soldier. After hearing stories about where she was from and what she was doing, she asked if she could accompany her, curious to see what life was like beyond the skies of her homeworld. Sailor Cosmos accepted, and with a farewell to her mother's grave, she closed up her cottage and left to fight the darkness that haunted the light of the stars.

Soon she found her friends and grew to love them dearly, though none so much as Cosmos.

Relationships:

  • Sailor Cosmos - Meela feels a special connection with Cosmos, seeing in her someone good and just and ideal, but feels like she deserves to be happier than she appears. Even when things are at their darkest, who better than senshi to show that there is still light? With everything weighing down on their leader, Euterpe always makes a conscious effort to raise her spirits whenever she can.

  • Sailor Calliope - Meela sees Calliope as an older sister figure - someone to whom she pays attention and someone who can silence her with the look. With the weight of Calliope's past and her role as the leader of the Muses, Meela instinctively knows not to mess with or cross her.

  • Clio was someone Meela implicitly trusted; she followed Clio's orders (with some slight modifications) consistently and valued her as someone who could keep their head in the game - even if she wasn't the easiest to get to smile and she frequently corrected any of Meela's funnier rhymes when they didn't make sense. Still, Meela prided herself on getting Clio to fondly roll her eyes. They weren't always close... but the team doesn't feel complete now that she's gone.

  • Erato - Meela appreciates Erato's flirtatious attitude and takes great amusement in seeing how people react to the kinds of antics Erato gets up to with them, and while she doesn't share Erato's love of fashion she'll enthusiastically cheer on the end result!

  • Melpomene - Meela adores Melpomene and considers her to be a number one priority in her quest to keep people smiling! Though she still appreciates her friend for who she is, tragedy-inspired powers and all. Of all her friends, she most often piggybacks on Melpomene and they're quite close!♥️ She started that habit when Melpomene explained about her poor eyesight and how she can really only "see" people clearly through their darker emotions - fear and sadness chief among them - and realized that Mel may have problems seeing her, so she decided she'd always be close so Mel wouldn't have to worry.

  • Polyhymnia had... a beautiful voice. Euterpe had always been eager to sing in harmony with her, for even though her songs were usually weighty and somber, there was no denying the underlying hope woven into the melody and lyrics. She misses her songs. She misses her steady presence - with Polyhymnia by their side, things just felt more certain, like that higher power they stood for was really there with them and that it would always win out. When she died -
... Meela doesn't like to remember that fight, or dwell on the fact that Polyhymnia was gone, but, even without meaning to, when humming by herself or when her mind wanders when she plays her flute, a Hymn will sometimes come to life.

  • Terpsichore and Euterpe had been partners on many occasions - most often off duty - as when Euterpe played Terpsichore danced, which made Euterpe dance, and together they just had fun with it. Breathless tunes through a half-played flute as they stomped around joyously was typically how things played out, and when another of them took up the song, Euterpre and Terpsichore would join hands and dance, else throw impromptu dance-offs as one tried to one-up the other with the complexity of the movements. Terpsichore always won - hands down - but Euterpre lived for the fun of it! When Terpsichore was lost...
Euterpe still loves to dance, and she refuses to stop, even though sometimes her hands reach out to spin with someone who is no longer there.

  • Sailor Thalia- her PARTNER IN CRIME. Delphine and Meela share commonalities in outlook (optimists for life!) and remedies for the blues (funny things and music!), but while Meela is more into finding amusement in everything, Delphine is into creating amusement from anything. Meela adores Thalia's jokes and will enthusiastically invite her to join in on any endeavor she attempts; however, like with Terpsichore, Euterpe is not often paired with Thalia for any serious mission as the pair end up feeding off of each other much in the same way - except infinitely louder and gigglier. Drawing mustaches on enemies? Yes. Turning knocked out fighters into marionettes who put on their own stage show? Most likely. Getting distracted and drawing out an interaction far longer than what was needed or necessary? Undoubtedly. They always get the task done eventually, but if the situation calls for partnering up and meeting up again at a set time, you can bet these two are perpetually late when paired together.

  • Sailor Urania is intelligent and thoughtful and logical and can be headstrong - so, of course, Meela simultaneously tries to make her laugh and avoid any eye-rolling done by her more serious friend when she's making faces at Thalia or Melpomene during boring strategy meetings or long flights through space. She appreciates Urania, but gets that Urania probably doesn't particularly enjoy her brand of humor.

Other Noteworthy Facts:

  • Loves roses
  • Loves the beach

Storyline Specific Information:

The Lunar Chronicles: Phase VI wrote:
It is now thousands of years into the future since the Crystal Tokyo era. Senshi have come and gone and the battle between the side of Cosmos and Chaos have finally reached its peak. A new senshi, Sailor Cosmos, whose power rivals that of the legendary senshi Sailor Moon, has emerged as the ultimate champion of the light side. Just like Sailor Moon had been, she is supported by nine senshi in her team in her war against Chaos.

However, this battle is harder than all of Sailor Moon's old battles combined. And the stakes are much higher. The world's balance is at risk, depending on which side ultimately wins. Is there even a true winner after all, or will everything be lost and wiped clean for the world to restart? As long as the Galaxy Cauldron exists, even if one side prevails for now, the other will soon be reborn and the whole thing starts all over again...

Sailor Cosmos is tired. She has experienced many losses, some from her own senshi team. Some among the people she dearly loves. She just wants it to end. Will she take a risky move to bring an end to the suffering?

Chaos has manifested itself and took the ultimate form of Sailor Chaos, a senshi of destruction with incredible power. It's going to be a fight of the strongest soldiers of light and darkness in this ultimate showdown.

This event will explore what happens leading up to Cosmos' decision to travel back in time to Usagi's era and try to destroy The Galaxy Cauldron.

Senshi Name: Sailor Euterpe, the Giver of Delight
Realm(s) of Influence: Music, Joy, Lyric Poetry (sung with a lyre), Flutes
Henshin/Transformation Phrase: "Sing in me, O Muse! Euterpe Cosmos Power, Make Up!"

Powers:

  • Flute-based attacks:
  • Euterpe Enchanting Trill!
While trilling on her Wind Flute, Euterpe can distract enemies; they pay attention to her and only to her, but don't actually realize what they're looking at, or why they're looking, or how long they're looking. She can only distract them for as long as she trills (one deeeep breath), but it can sometimes be enough to get the jump on them! Once the trill ends, they stop paying attention to her and forget that she's even there - at least, for a moment.

  • Euterpe Vivacious Vibrato!
A sound attack, with each rise in volume sending out an energy wave around her in rapid succession, impeding the movement of enemies and deafening them as the sound eventually starts to reverberate.

  • Euterpe Vicious Sforzato! (forced, short attack followed by a rapid reduction in tone intensity)
She throws through her flute a forced, short attack, followed by a rapid reduction in tone intensity. The loud "attack" hurts and can stun an enemy and paralyze them; but the paralysis only lasts so long as as the tone that follows. Can alternatively be used only for the short energetic attack burst.

  • Euterpe Whisper Tones! (individual partials of a note)
When Euterpe blows into her flute but does not provide enough pressure to create a tone, the ghost of a tone plays, the song sounding like a whisper through reeds. Rather than an attack, this technique is simply used to make enemies feel ill-at-ease.
((Hint: it's not an actual attack, it's just something she likes to do to be scary~))
((second hint: her friends think it's more ridiculous than scary))
((third hint: it sometimes works on enemies. .-. when they hear it, they know they're about to be attacked by Cosmos's Muses))

  • Lyre-accompanied song (heals allies)
As she plays and sings of things that remind them of what is good and pure and makes them happy, wounds are healed and energy restored; typically happens after battles - battle-time adrenaline can fight against the healing magic. Calm and relaxed helps heal faster. Not a set song.

Weapons or Magical Items:

  • Wind Flute
A flute made of glass that automatically tunes itself in different atmospheric situations. It can appear and disappear at will.
  • Lyre of Storms
The lyre her father gifted her made of tortoise shell; while it is not in-and-of-itself magical, Euterpe channels her own happy memories held within the lyre to focus her healing song.

RP Sample:
These were her favorite types of missions - the sneaky kind.

Her slippers quiet, she crept forward through the smooth-floored darkened hall with exaggerated tip-toe steps, turning back to grin at her teammate. The other responded with a pouty-frown, furrowed brows and a reminding finger jab back down the hall, which just made her cover her grin with one hand and turn back around and continue her sneaky steps towards the room ahead and the guards within. Movement in the shadows ahead made her spring aside, lightly landing by the wall - cold wall! - and hold her breath, the Wind Flute appearing in her hand as though sensing her potential need -- but nothing came of it. She let out her breath and slid forward down the length of the wall, her blonde curls cushioning her back and shoulders as, finally, she reached the opening to the room beyond. With a lean, she glanced in, looked around, and popped back out of sight.

Only thirty of them!

This would be faster than even she had thought it would be!

She lifted her flute to her lips, fingered the mid-range F, took in a deep breath and played, trilling immediately between F and G just loud enough to be heard - she didn't want to run out of air too quickly! There was a commotion at first but it soon silenced, which was her cue! She danced out, keeping up the note, and her partner immediately appeared from the shadows of the hallway and the pair of them moved through the room without being noticed, though, as they crossed the space towards the next hall, she wished she had chosen a different note; Thalia probably would have appreciated her stopping to mess with things as she went through, but as it stood she needed her right hand to make F. With a bit more of a pout to her embouchure, she followed the other Muse out, letting the trill fade once they were away from sight to release the enchantment, and as they continued moving through this chaos fortress she looked down at her flute and wondered if she could somehow convince it to become a piccolo.
