I'm kinda surprised no one has posted this yet, but Chiaki Kon, the director of Sailor Moon Crystal season three and the fourth arc movies, will be coming to Anime Matsuri in Houston, Texas in late March, 2018. There will also be a Sailor Moon store at the convention, and people can sign up for the fan club as well.

I'm hoping we'll get some news about the movies during the event, if only in the form of a promo image or something. I wouldn't expect a trailer just yet (I feel like that's something they'd save for a special event like Usagi and Chibi-Usa's birthday on June 30th), but hopefully we'll get some sort of an update at that time.

Wow Anime Matsuri again!! I wonder what makes that con the go-to for all these Sailor Moon firsts to North America... I know it's "one of the largest" in the US but why not the other large ones? Are there seriously more Sailor Moon fans in Texas than elsewhere?? XD

Regardless of my jealousy, I think it's great news~. Especially to hear details of Crystal 4!!

I really wanted to go to Anime Matsuri last year for the Myu performance, but things didn't work out. I was considering going this year if they did something similar. I'm really excited about the Sailor Moon Store (it was actually my guess for what was coming to AM since they had already made different musical announcements), but I probably won't be able to attend myself. I do have a friend in the area who goes every year though, so I'll probably send them some money to get me stuff from the store! I really hope they put up a list of products that will be sold, since I imagine they aren't bringing everything.

But yes I'm really hopeful for more information on Crystal!! I hope we get a general date, and maybe some images as well! 

I'm also curious about why they've chosen Anime Matsuri to be the hub for Japanese Sailor Moon stuff in the US... I've seen things on Twitter where some people are even boycotting it, because apparently AM has a bad rep? I don't know the details though. or even the generals, really. In any case, I'm just glad the US is getting more SM stuff in general!

I also saw that Osabu (Naoko's editor) will be coming to AM as well! I've heard a bit about AM having some drama or something, though I don't know the details either. I too am curious why Texas? BUT HEY ITS LIKE A STATE AWAY FOR ME SO YAY Buuuut I doubt I'll be going cause money.

I'm not sure why they choose this particular convention either. One would think bigger conventions like AX or Otakon would be more likely. Maybe it's convenience? Maybe the scheduling works out best for this con? Or maybe the organizers of AM have some sort of agreement with Toei?

I don't think they'd list the merchandise online; doing that might cut down on people visiting the store. From a business point of view, I think it makes more sense to drum up excitement but keep quiet on the details so you get customers in the door.

As for the convention's reputation...I've never been to AM, but I read a little about some of the past issues attendees had with the convention with regards to badges and the event organizer himself. I won't go into that here, since we'd be going off topic.

I would think it's the convention reaching out to acquire these guests, not the other way around.  I live in Texas but missed out on last year's convention and Myu due to bad timing.  I'm sure whatever events or panels will be posted to youtube eventually and we can all watch that way! 

*facepalm* Of course... Here I am assuming everybody wants Sailor Moon guests from Japan, giving said guests the ability to choose any con XD. Derp.

I watched bits and pieces of it but I haven't sat down and watched anything all the way through.  Got it all bookmarked though!

Anime Matsuri is this weekend, and I wanted to see when the panel with Chiaki Kon would be, but the AM website is down and has been like this for a few days now. =_=

I did watch the mini musical they had last year at AM, it was really cute, but the backdrop with the lyrics tended to be a bit out of sync, which was a bit annoying. I was actually trying to plan to go last year, but it didn't work out.

I'm not sure if I'll actually watch the panels themselves this year, but I'm definitely keeping watch on Twitter of the people who are at AM because I have hope for announcements on either Crystal or on a US release of the musicals. If important news on either of those is released, I'll try to find somewhere to watch it!

I was able to FINALLY access the schedule page for AM, and the Sailor Moon panel is taking place tomorrow at 2pm CST. I'm trying not to get too hyped because there's no guarantee Osa-bu and Chiaki Kon will reveal info on the new movies, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited.

Based on what I'm reading on Twitter there was nothing new released at the AM event. Someone asked about the SMC movies but Osabu said they just started production and it's gonna be another 1-2 years until it would be ready.

Can't say I'm surprised but am still a little bummed. Oh well, Rome wasn't built overnight, I suppose...

Unfortunate, but not entirely unexpected. If there was news, I'd expect it to be around a more special event, like Usagi's birthday (not this year, though).

Okay, that just wouldn't be fair.

... I could so see that being the case, whether or not they're currently planning for it or not.... I just hope since the wait is going to be so long, that there won't be a long wait between the movies as well.
