A fan from Mexico made these designs for costumes that are supposedly creating quite a stir in the Japanese Sailor Moon fandom. I've seen fanmade re-designs for their outfits before, but none have gone into this much detail and covered this many charaters, so I think this is really cool o: Obviously these aren't going to end up being canon or anything, but it's creating a lot of discussion so I thought I'd mention it here. I personally like Venus's version the best-

Oddly enough, I really liked the Starlights, even though in the original version of Naoko I con't really like their outfit... Here they look so good and techy and robotic, it's awesome!

Chibi Moon is cute too, and I loved the differences between the Outers and Inners.

Oh wow, I love these costumes O__O Uranus' and Pluto's are my favorite. Mars too... I love the fluffy skirts and the leotard-like bottoms. I really want Uranus' shoes and jacket for myself >>

I agree with you Ella, Venus has the best outfit. Even though I think all of them are pretty good, I disliked a little bit Sailor Moon's rabbit glasses.

To be honest, I do not see what the big deal is. I think they are utterly gorgeous. But more so, he is giving his own unique, artistic spin on them and I admire that very much about him.

Why are some fans outraged by this? Quite curious to know.

Because they don't have sailor collars. GASP~ But yeah, the main controversy is that the uniforms aren't sailor fuku-y enough. I personally don't think that really matters because the whole point is that they're totally original designs that happened to be inspired by the characters. Good to know that people here are more open minded

Can't believe I never saw this thread before! I've seen some of these redesigns floating around tumblr, so glad I could see them all in one place. I love them all! They are so unique and different. I think I love Pluto's the most because its so dark and mysterious. Also I agree, venus's is pretty darn awesome.

My favorites are Jupiter and the Starlights, actually. Jupiter's new fuku-ish design turned out fantastically, and were she in a place other than Japan, I could easily see her getting tattoos.

Just love the Starlights redesigns. They remind me of programs from TRON, so it's win for me.

Also Uranus is looking quite nice.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention Jupiter's. I also love her face. She looks so fierce!

It's a spin off on its own. I love them. It's a great new way to look at their designs. They are obviously not of a school girl/sailor uniform and that's okay. It's just a new way to approach it and it obviously won't become canon at all.

It looked like the Inner Sailor Senshi were based off of Ballerinas, the Outer Sailor Senshi were based off of the Victorian/Georgian era, and the Sailor Starlights were more of a Sci-Fi look.

I like how they are very high fashion looking too. I think something Naoko would actually be pleased with since she based a lot of her outfits and designs in the manga off from fashion magazines and stuff.

I loved Jupiter's! I think it's cool that they gave her a tattoo. I don't know about the Starlights. It looks like their wearing bathing suits. Also I don't like the things on their shoulders. Other than that I like the artist's take on their costumes. They look like the belong in art museum or in a fashion book.

Ahh these are so cool! I think Venus is my favorite, but Jupiter is pretty excellent as well. I just love it when people come up with new stuff like this.

I actually love their designs. Makes me think of things would look if it were done in the old days.

I really like these they're sweet. I do not like the Starlights' though because of the shoulders. I mean I like how they're sort of like something out of Tron, but I hate the shoulders >.< a lot. And the hair changes lol. Other than that, these are really sweet. I think they're interesting costumes. Not very sailor fuku-y but still really lovely nevertheless. I love the skirts and coats. Overall, they're just stupendous.

Wow... I'm sorry but I have to disagree... I would not like to even think about this design being implemented on the series at all... it's just not sailor moon at... this looks like it came out of one of those weird fashion shows on cloths that nobody would ware.

In all honesty, its just an artist putting it onto a canvas. Its like when others make the Senshi into Mermaids. Its an alternate-ish world. So they don't have to have any link to the actual series to do this.
I think its inventive, something new and cool to look at. Its not like their saying they hate the uniforms so they are going to remake them and this is how it should be. lol

the outfits are nice i won't deny that. but i'm not particularly fond of them. pluto is down right terrifying and the starlights are "omg fugly retro 80's!" the shoulders kill me. and i miss their usual hairstyles.

Plus regardless if you like the fashion or not, I think the art is gorgeous.
