Hi everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm not really sure what to put here, so I guess I could ramble about what's my favorite season and all that? I first started watching the 90s anime of Sailor Moon last year and, to my shock, I was hooked. I didn't expect to like it, but several of my friends convinced me to give the original animated series a go. It actually wasn't my first exposure to the series- I tried reading the manga a long time ago after spotting it in the local library, but I found it wasn't really up my alley. I gave the franchise a try again when crystal came out, since I've always really liked the artwork of Sailor Moon but didn't know anything about it. I wasn't really into that either, and, to be honest, gave up on episode two. So yeah, I didn't think I would like the 90s anime, but it's amazing. I absolutely adore Usagi and how delightfully cheesy and absurd the show is. I'm not trying to start a fight lol, I have sort of an odd sense of humor and I love things that are kind of wacky and don't totally make sense, so for me, that's high praise. Basically, I'm just giving a warning that while I totally respect people's love for the manga, I'm really biased towards the 90s anime edition and also the musicals because they're both silly lol.  I do comedic (well, to me they are) reviews about Sailor Moon products sometimes on Youtube and right now I'm also working on a parody doujinshi in my spare time because I'm a freakin' Sailor Moon nerd now apparently. Maybe I'll post it sometime if you guys are actually at all interested in looking at my weird comic lol. Oh, btw I like all the seasons, but I think the best is probably either S or the first season and I still haven't been able to finish Stars because I think it's the least... good-est one lol. Wow, this is long okay bye!

It's interesting to hear that some people are still getting into Sailor Moon through the 90s Anime. Most of the time it's through Sailor Moon Crystal, but if you didn't like the Manga as much, it's no surprise that you didn't enjoy Crystal since it's an exact adaptation.

What are your favorite characters/ your favorite Senshis? And even though you don't like the Manga as much, you should check out the Stars Version of the Manga, since it's completely different to the Anime Version.

Welcome to the forum, SailorAries! What part of the 90s anime are you enjoying the most? I see that fisheye is your avatar, is he your favorite villain? Did you make the avatar yourself, It looks really cool!

@SailorMars Aw, thanks! There isn't nearly enough to post yet, but I'll definitely do so when I've got more finished (I'm an amateur artist so it takes me forever to draw stuff >w<') As far as favorite characters, I kind of like them all? I really don't dislike anyone in the series, although the Three Lights in the anime kinda rub me the wrong way since they're so mean to Usagi's retinue, which is too bad because initially I though they seemed really cool and was looking forward to them haha. I like all the inners a lot, although, and I really hate to say this in your company since you've been super nice to me, but sometimes I jokingly rag on Rei for being mean to Usagi, who I absolutely love. I actually like her though despite this since she's very loyal and kindhearted underneath the tsundere exterior XD I love Usagi since I can relate to her in a lot of ways, not sure what that says about me haha. I also really like Chibi-Usa, who I think often gets a bad rep for being super annoying in the old dub, (apparently? Haven't really seen it aside from clips.) I'm a big fan of some of the villains too. I think it's funny how likable the bad guys are in this show. Like, I *loved* all the Shitennou, even Jadeite. I mean, the guy got run over by two planes and somehow lived, only to be later taken out by Beryl's weak energy blast. Iconic. I don't really remember much about R, but Esmerald was hilarious. [Omg, I just remembered she got turned into a dragon at the end?! What the-] Sorry, I'm totally ranting. I also really like the Amazon Trio! They're very fun characters in the musicals and even in the anime, despite being sorta creepy :/ and Fisheye is adorable haha. The character design on them is fun too, but Hawk's Eye should ditch the lame outfit imo...

I'm aware of your liking Sailor Mars but I'm curious which characters are your favorites? I will try to check out manga Stars and at least give it a chance. :p I thought Dead Moon Circus arc was okay until they murdered the Trio lol then I gave up because I'm a terrible moonie haha

@Dark Sportsnutd Nice to meet you! I have no idea how clubs or guilds work but yeah, that sounds cool. I have to get me one of those mentors so I can figure it out and join one haha

@Cosmos-Hime Thank you! Yes, I did make it myself. I love doing little photoshops for fun, especially when it involves Sailor Moon and sparkly-ness! And yes, I do love Fisheye! I love a lot of characters actually lol (see above rant for more.) I really like the music of the 90s anime and, idk just like, the essence of it, it's vibe I dunno.    It's all good but I really liked the first season, S and SuperS, despite SuperS's status as "the crappiest one." I actually have a weird appreciation for it even though I don't think it's the best one because it's the first thing I saw in 90s clips on Youtube before I actually started the series and I think it's the most aesthetically intriguing, I guess?

Always nice to meet another musicals fan! Even though Stars is your least favorite so far, it has some of the best and funniest musicals in my opinion, and the Three Lights are entirely different (in a way I suspect you'll like based off your opinions of other characters), so you should definitely give them a try sometime!

Hello!! Welcome to GC! I really adore the original 90s anime so much. I often just pick up random episodes to watch because its just so fun and you get to know the girls so much better. Usagi is probably my fav, along with Chibiusa but I'm like you, I can't really pick. Sometimes I'm super adoring of Pluto and others its Venus or Jupiter. xD I just love everyone.

And hurray for musicals!!! And yesss on Stars. It's my least favorite season too. Not that's it's super awful but after all the good stuff before it...its kinda blah in comparison to the rest of the series. Especially when the first arc (with Nehellenia) is so good, imo!

Since you've watched the musicals, A.) have you watched ALL the musicals and B.) which one is your favorite?

Btw Rutlejake, really weird question, and I'm prob totally off with this, but is your avatar supposed to be from the really old Beatles cartoon? I'm only asking because back when I used to browse around on Tumblr there was a page I liked dedicated to that show with memes and weird screen grabs that I followed despite not being anywhere close to a dedicated Beatles fan. But yeah, I followed it anyhow because it was dank lol

@Cardea Yes I get that impression and I'd love to see more of them as they appear in Sera Myu! Truthfully I haven't watched any single musical the whole way through, A) because my attention span can be really short when I'm watching anything solo B) It's really hard for me to find them subbed [I have trouble accessing them on Miss Dream because they're some odd file type.  Same thing with PGSM which looks really fun but I also can't find anywhere subbed that works for me.]

As for the youtube, I can't actually share links right now because I'm so new, but the link to my youtube page is on my user profile! Just a warning though, I have a tendency to swear in my videos lol. They're otherwise totally innocuous and light-hearted but yeah, I wouldn't suggest for anyone under 16 due to language... I mean, unless there are users who are younger but don't care about some scattered f-bombs from my being excited about Sailor Moon things. >w<"

@Brit-chan Okay, can I just say I really appreciate your pro-SuperS stance and love of Chibi-usa? Anyhow, like I said before I actually haven't seen any musicals the whole way through for the above reasons.(**is a little ashamed lol) That said, what I've seen of Shin Densetsu Kourin is great, especially the game show bit lol. I also love Anzamoon, she is adorable and so funny as Usagi in stuff like Sailor Busters and whatnot. I didn't like what I saw of Amour Eternal though, I guess it seemed too serious for me and the Amazon Trio weren't very silly or cutesy. :/ You're all probably starting to notice a trend concerning what my general preferences are in media haha. I'd love to see the weird vampire one with the classic "All of You Shall Die." It seems totally wacked.
