Yeah, you heard me. A sailor moon cellphone!














According to sailormooncollectibles.com, it does some weird, rotating thing, making the phone usable. 

Now here's the downside.

-no camera
-no bluetooth
-no texting
-no internet capabilities
-batterylife roughly 2 hours
-It's roughly $120 USD, and you have to buy a specific plan when you buy this phone in order to have it functional, which adds even more money. It's a monthly plan, no idea the specifics. 

It's cute and all, but...really? Pretty sure they're taking us sailor moon fans for saps at this point.

Why would anyone living in 2015 want a 120$ phone that works just like a 1992 Nokia?

It has some Sailor Moon related decorations, but I don't even see how you use it to make a call. It looks like a horrid cell phone, but I would buy it as a display piece if it cost under $20.

Yes, they're stickers... It's a barely functional, heart-shaped phone that you can add stickers and charms to. And apparently the company making them is advertising the product as "a perfect fit for women's hands" 

The tiara still beats this though.

There was a point where I felt some of the merchandise was kinda ridiculous and even a bit gaudy but it was overall still something that didn't seem like a ridiculous waste of money and plastic (and ive been happy to see cute stationary and figures and what not) but this is getting ridiculous.

I hate to say it but i kinda wish this 20th anniversary thing would just pitter out...I'm just getting tired of all this crap they keep releasing. :/

As someone else said, if it were like in the $20 range (which like with all its features it sounds like a cheap $20 GOphone....) Id consider buying it just to have cause i do think the heart shape is cute but WHY A CELLPHONE WHY NOT JUST A CUTE HEART SHAPED JEWELRY BOX OR SOMETHING.

OK first the Tiara and now this it's starting to get a little insulting in my opinion. Not to mention my iphone can do so much more and i think it was cheaper than 120 or it was right on that with you know a heck of a lot more. (not sure wasn't paying attention to the price to busy playing with my phone.)

This is getting ridiculous. Moonies want better quality Crystal episodes not over-priced merchandise

Like I said in the thread about the queen serenity tiara, sailor moon is a cash cow. They think that they can sell just about anything, and some poor saps-I mean fans-will bay obnoxious amounts of money for said product, leading them to produce more cheap or oddly-made products at a ridiculous price.

I would like it better if they at least made it look like the Cosmic Heart brooch.  It's already about the same shape so it couldn't have been that much harder to make it look more like it.

Well, you can't blame them for doing it. At the end of the day no matter how much you love Sailor Moon and no matter how much you look at it, Sailor Moon was essentially made to sell toys. Much like how My Little Pony and Transformers is made to sell toys, so now they are just trying to cash in on the young girls that are adults now.

Is it ridiculous when stuff like this is released? Absolutely. But it shouldn't really be surprising either...

and that's why crystal have low budget animation because it's nothing more than a merchandising series

I honestly don't mind that they're using the new anime to sell more merchandise because that means we get more awesome stuff to collect but when they release stuff like this and the tiara and they're SERIOUS about them, and are honestly expecting us to buy it? It's like what Crystalsetsuna said...

Sailor Moon came out in 1992? So yeah it's not even the 20th anniversary anymore...

Honestly I don't get half of the stuff they sell. Like tampons? Really? I don't buy tampons because it has Sailor Moon on it.. *ahem*  I agree Brit this would be a cute thing to buy if it was a jewelry box not a cell phone. I can see this thing happening in the 90s when cells phones were still a new concept.

Max Factory is like part of GSC. and GSC is known to make the best figures. Kotobukiya is also good (since a few year) but nothing comes close to GSC.

It's not, actually. They're partners but that's it. Max Factory produces the figma line which is a sort of split project with GSC. As for GSC being the best I have to politely disagree. My best figures, quality-wise, are all Alter or Max Factory, while with GSC I've had a few big disappointments (Inori, Yozora). Also I feel like their poses are often awkward or just not "alive" enough for me - which is why I mentioned Kotobukiya, because I feel like they have the courage to make dynamic or interesting poses where other companies have failed (for example, see the Koto Senjougahara, Asuna and the Attack on Titan characters, particularly Eren, as opposed to all of the other figures of them). Personally I would take Koto over GSC any day.

But even so, I would definitely thank my lucky stars if GSC got the rights to Sailor Moon figures. I mean... Even with them having disappointed me in the past, I'm pretty sure even their worst attempt would be way above the SM figures we've seen in the past 3 years.

And I agree with the Naoko-Toei-Bandai thing. Bandai are evil.
