[Multiverse][Advanced] Yiska Spinne Empty
PostSubject: [Multiverse][Advanced] Yiska Spinne   [Multiverse][Advanced] Yiska Spinne I_icon_minitime2nd December 2016, 6:31 pm

Advanced Character Profile

Character Name: Yiska Spinne (spider of the passing night)
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Universe: City of Shadows
Canon or Original: Original

Appearance: Yiska's skin has a blueish teint and pure black hair that looks and feels like silk, so thin and soft that his scalp is incredibly sensitive (to pain mostly). It falls straight, well beyond his shoulderblades and easily hide the small but pointy ears of his kind. His eyes are totally black and glassy with no hint of pupils or irises. He has five of them, three below the forehead (where normal human eyes usually are) and two in the middle of his forehead. He generally closes the three of them that generally cause discomfort to others (he doesn't care, but it's a habit from a time when he did care so he still does it, often unconsciously). Once closed, it's almost impossible to know they're there, unless the fact is known. His lips are thin, of a paler blue than his skin and every teeth in his mouth is pointed and sharp.

He is 6'6'' and has six arms, three on each side of his torso (the seventh and eighth legs being his own), four of which can be hidden back inside himself. He has large hands and feet, perfect for climbing and is muscular enough to carry his own weight when climbing on walls and ceilings.

He generally only wears only pants (because making shirts for six arms is not something he has any patience for), those being close to hammer pants with a belt that floats and turns him onto his back when in water.
Personality: The dominant trait to remember would be playful. Often for the worse. And seductive, though not consciously, it's a state of mind and he never questionned it (seductive manners, but a big lack of real interest). Yiska isn't someone who likes staying serious for a great amount of time, he finds it quite a waste of time and life is so short. Carefree and reckless, his humor is dark and might often amuse only himself, but he is known to have a particular fondness for those who react (in small and greats ways) to his mockery. The more reactions, the more he will continue. A creature losing control of themselves because of him is a win in his book and he doesn't stop unless he wants it, even if his life might be in danger because of his insistance (or games). He really doesn't like to lose and his arrogance probably explains why not so many people can actually stand him.

He is rather expressive, except for what he thinks are weaknesses, but his face is rarely bland or cold. Either there's a small grin tugging at the corner of his lips or a gleam in his eyes expressing mischief about to happen or already managed. His features are always softened into a sort of calm amusement and despite his lack of empathy toward others, he rarely shows any anger, he rarely is angry.

Yiska is actually good at socializing and likes it more than he pretends, but usually, he just doesn't like the company of people that much. He has nothing against the people per se, but the fact that someone must entertain a conversation for company to be interesting annoys him. He believes in 'being alone together' and will prefer being two (or more), each doing their own thing but present for one another than forcing conversation (often boring small talk). That and considering he loves to annoy everyone... well he doesn't make friends that easily. Once he gets a liking to someone, enough to become friends, he is loyal and will show a certain favoritism.

He is surprisingly romantic, though extremely direct, but for anything to happen, Yiska needs words. No crush turning around each other for years after years or else he won't get it and will think the person is playing with him (and he will play back and it will only end up in misunderstandings and probable hurt).

He's not afraid of saying he is physically handsome, not by narcissism, but simple because he has confidence in himself and is aware he actually meets a certain standard of beauty - if you forget the six arms and the five eyes (it's part of why he first started to close three of them). He also likes saying that his species is superior than others, even when he knows it's not true. He doesn't take anything seriously, even the sacred. He doesn't care enough.

Though he fears very little for his life, he can become defensive to the point of anger when someone threatens his tranquility.

He likes climbing, often found on the ceiling or slowly making his way up a wall, heights being where he is most comfortable. The higher, the darker, the better. Finding him upside down isn't actually a surprising thing. He loves annoying others, the man quick to seek conflict where he can. He hates water, even though not every kind can hurt him, but he likes the numbing sensation it gives him when in small doses.

Ironically, he hates insects.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:
Climbing skills: Yiska is a very good climber, but the easiness with which he does so can be explained by the fact that every inch of his skin has small apendages, invisible to the naked eyes that sticks to any surface.
Super-strength: He can level a house probably, though he never tried.
Spider Senses: All of his senses are heightened, taste, smell, hearing, sight and touch. His sight, though enhanced, also is more fragile than most people (like in the case of a direct strong light flashed right in his eyes). He can produce threads, his salive paralyzes and there's a poison gland behind his teeth.

Respiratory Resistance: Even though he does need oxygen, he can breathe in poisonous environment. He even calls it 'a refreshing breeze'.
Immortality: Yiska cannot die of old age, though he can die from physical wounds, drowning, etc.

History: Yiska's home was in a big city. Why if his family were as far from humans as he was? Because it was safer, because his mother was able to pass for a human enough to be safe, safer than in the middle of a forest. But it also meant that she wouldn't be able to go to the hospital and that they would need to move as soon as possible after his birth. A doctor came to their house, the night of his birth, to help the mother in delivering him. A doctor who wouldn't return home. His mother never had any pleasure in the kill, unlike his father, but what other choice did she have when a baby with six arms and five inhuman eyes stared right through the man. His scream never made it out of his throat.

His mother was safe, he was safe and some days after his birth, they left. They left for another city, where the sheer number of people living there would hide them better than they could in a village. And why not in a forest, then? Because predators were dangeroux for a baby and young spiders were able to walk sooner than the average human.

When Yiska was mostly able to care for himself, when he was old enough to understand words, concepts and feelings, his mother bid him goodbye, smiled with love she probably never thought she would feel for the small boy she was leaving behind and left him.

It was normal.

She said.

It was the way their kind worked.

He laughed that night. A tad manically maybe, but he didn't cry. It was how the world worked and he wasn't sad. He was almost an adult - for his species - even if for any human eyes, this mother was abandoning behind her six years old boy.

But her smile stayed with him and surprisingly enough, it became his own trademark. He smiled, and smiled, learning to do like his mother did, hiding his arms, closing three of his fives eyes, wearing sunglasses and for most of his first years alone: hiding. He didn't understand how his mother would find big city to be safer, to be comfortable. Everywhere he went, there was the risk of eyes catching what they shouldn't, of people being afraid of him if he wasn't cautious, of violence.

The color of his skin was explained as a child who didn't get enough sun.

He lasted ten years. More or less staying in doors, finding ways to learn, to be and to participate, and live. But after ten years of humanity, he decided to leave for a better place. Where his mother feared the woods, he welcomed the solitude, hiding high in the trees so predators wouldn't be able to get him. He discovered he liked the wild more than the civilized and even to this day, he admits that maybe he went a little too feral there.

He travelled for the most part of his life, soon the color of his skin being the only thing others could notice that was strange in him. The rest he hid better than his mother ever did.

Up until he arrived to Raven's Hollow.

A sanctuary. A haven. Where he found a place he could actually call home - don't tell anyone he said that - and where he was comfortable enough to walk with six arms, to be totally himself. Sure, most of the inhabitants were idiots if you asked him and he probably didn't ever put enough effort to make friends or to be gently and friendly, but it was home.

He saw people come and go, being born and die. One of the last ramparts for the abnormal community. It had been fun, the first few time, hearing some justice warriors explaining how good these kind of places were, how little there remained and how humans were ferocious beasts.

Irony, irony. So much of it when the whole town was inhabited by creatures, predators, beasts, demons.

They were as much a threat for humans than humans were for the weakest of them.

Not that he cared.

Politics ugh.
He was nothing but a dealer of clothes, proud to say he made the strudiest clothes, the most aesthetically pleasing ones as well.
The secret was in the threads.

And he kept an eye outside of the town as well. A guard, if you wish, that kept humans out even if most of the time the town didn't need it. But it was nice. Hunting humans. Most of the time he wouldn't kill them. Just paralyze them without being seen, bringing them back far from the town, disorienting them to be sure they wouldn't find their way back and coming back home.

He couldn't bring his own fellow citizen in his web, so why not powerless and nosy beings?
Other Noteworthy Facts:
Yiska remembers the exact date when he joined the town, but it's not something he actually shares. He knows everyone in town that has been there for more than a year and observes from his spectator seat the ups and downs of the place. He doesn't care much for what's happening, why it's happening and who is responsible. He'd be relatively bummed if something destroyed the town, but what can he do really. It's not his damn fault if this whole thing turned into a soap opera.

Universe Specific Information:
The town of Raven's Hollow is not your ordinary city. It is filled with supernatural creatures; from werewolves to sirens, from angels to demons, from the ones haunting the humans' nightmares to the most beautiful dreams. It is one of the last refugees left for these creatures, which were quickly becoming extinct after being hunted by humans in various places out of fear that they would assert their superiority otherwise with their magical powers and abilities.

Species Information:
Yiska's species is not one that's been known to flock in group so the information on them is near zero (unless you're one of them yourself) and Yiska doesn't know if his physical appearance is the only possible or if there is as many as there are species of spiders in the world. Considering his own lifespan, however, he can guess they've been there for a while. Whether he's the last or not, however, remains unknown.

Weakness: Salted water.
Only under direct contact with the skin.
Small quantity only results in a numbing jolt, but if he was to fall into salted water or if someone pours many large quantities of it on him, it paralyzes him. Sometimes, depending on the level of acidity, rain also causes some numbing to the touched areas.

  • Despite this, he is known to love the numbing on his lips or fingertips.
  • Small quantity of salted water is something he likes, medium quantity of it annoys him and large quantity of it can actually kill him.
  • It's the reason he wears a belt that allows him to float on water, it's so he doesn't drown if he's to fall in it.

Strong light: Though he learned to resist the sun's light when it's day, a strong light, directly aimed at his eyes can temporarily blind him.
Loud high-pitched sound: It frustrates him, it can give him a strong headache and disorient him.
Storyline Specific Information:
City of Shadows: Recently, a new unknown threat has appeared in Raven's Hollow. Some of the townspeople felt it when the new presence arrived. The more sensitive ones felt the ominous tingle of electricity in the air, others felt their dreams disturbed by a half-formed premonition. The seers knew an age of change was coming, but for the first time could not tell for sure what it was. As days went on, one by one the townspeople began to disappear, seemingly vanishing into thin air from various places. First, a fairy. Then, a warlock. After that, a vampire.

At first, the townspeople blamed each other. See, maintaining the peace between all the different clans and races in Raven's Hollow was no easy task, with some of them being natural-born enemies, and some who physically could not stand each other. But when the vanishings continued to take random creatures of all races, seemingly affecting all of them, they soon realized that this threat did not come from their own neighbors. It was something else entirely, perhaps something they had never encountered before. And if they would have any hope to fight it, they must, for the first time in their lives, learn to not only get along, but also work together.

RP Sample:
Boring. Yiska looked away, yawning as he made his way up the house he was actually climbing - who's was it already? - ignoring the small commotion in the street in favor of his own self-time. He got to the top and sat there, looking around him with a grin tugging at the corners of his lips. He liked this town. It was probably weird to say, he thought, as most of it was utter chaos and many of them didn't stand him, but it was a nice place. One he fit in despite the six arms, despite the eyes, despite the teeth. Some of them were uglier than him.

And if some showed a certain discomfort, no one really cared about what he was anymore.

Human villages... towns... cities... well those were a whole other story and not one he was in a hurry to relive. He really hoped everyone could get their self back together soon, because he didn't want to live. And he didn't want to die.

He closed his two open eyes, enjoying the small breeze in his hair. This was pleasant. He liked it. A lot. His fingers drummed slowly against the wood under him, a muffled humming noise coming from the back of his throat. Even if the town burned, he guessed the wind would remain the same, wouldn't it?

A fight broke out in the streets, something trivial - as it happened - and Yiska suddenly opened his eyes, shuffling to the edge of the roof in order to be able to catch a glance of what was happening.

It was going to escalate when he poured two buckets of water onto their heads.

People sometimes...

Can you put the weakness and other species information under a Species Information heading, as well as explain a bit about his kind? Like, what are they officially called? Just half human half spider or is there an official name for it? How did they come to be/where did they come from? (It's okay if it's just like... they've existed for a long time and no one knows XD)
