Appearance:
Hotaru’s black hair falls just above her shoulders. It’s black, thick, and straight. Her bangs are cut evenly over her brow, hiding her eyebrows. Her eyes are a dark violet, almost black. Her skin is pale and unblemished. At sixteen, she isn’t particularly tall, though she does stand taller than Chibiusa, standing at 5 feet, 3 ½ inches. Her figure is slender but womanly, her bust and hips creating a feminine hourglass form. Hotaru tends to prefer dark colors, such as black, navy, and purple, though she often feels like she spends most of her time in her school uniform these days.

Personality:
Hotaru is widely known for her introverted nature. A precocious and emotionless girl, most think Hotaru is strange and aloof. Though true to some degree, most simply do not understand her. After her rebirth, she rapidly aged from a five year old to a young teenager after Queen Nehellenia’s arrival. In a short matter of time, Hotaru absorbed two lifetimes’ worth of information. Needless to say, this all makes her a little peculiar.

However, to those who know her, she is simply soft-spoken and kind. She is respected by her fellow soldiers and she often leans on them for strength. A gentle soul, Hotaru can seem weak to others, but she can be quite determined—sometimes dangerously so. She is willing to risk her life for those she loves, particularly Chibi Usa, who is her dearest and closest friend.

Hotaru’s dream is to become a nurse. She is currently working hard to get and maintain good grades so that she might get into a university with a prestigious nursing program abroad. Her dream also acts a form of atonement for her acts as Sailor Saturn. She wishes to heal lives rather than destroy them.

– Healing // Hotaru is able to heal minor wounds and cuts, but not without weakening herself. Larger wounds and injuries are impossible for her as she would lose consciousness in the midst of healing them.

History:
After the destruction of the Silver Millennium, Sailor Saturn was reborn as Hotaru Tomoe, daughter to Professor Souichi Tomoe and Keiko Tomoe. When Hotaru was eight years old, a fire started in her father's lab due to a lightning strike. It was then that Pharaoh 90 appeared, implanting Daimon Eggs into Professor Souichi and his assistant, Kaori.

The fire killed Keiko and left Hotaru severely injured. Her father used forbidden research in genetic and cybernetic technology to save his daughter, turning her into a cyborg. During the operation, he implanted a Daimon Egg in her, which would later birth Mistress 9.

Hotaru attended her father's school, Mugen Academy, but she was an outcast amongst her peers due to her sickly nature and eerie mood swings. It was at Mugen Academy she met Chibiusa, who had snuck into the school grounds to retrieve her hat. The two girls were suddenly attacked by a Daimon that was possessing a cat. Chibiusa and Usagi were forced to transform and display their powers in front of Hotaru. After the fight against the Daimon, Hotaru promised to keep their secret safe, and revealed her own strange abilities by healing Chibiusa.

After their meeting, Hotaru is visited by Chibiusa several times and the two girls become friends, something Hotaru never remembers having before. Unfortunately, it is during this timeframe that Mistress 9 emerges and steals Chibiusa's Silver Crystal. However, Hotaru’s conscious during this whole experience and is able to protect Chibiusa and the Crystal from Mistress 9 by entrapping her in Hotaru's body. She was able to save the Inner Senshi and Chibiusa before fading away and awakening as Sailor Saturn.

After banishing Pharaoh 90 and the Death Busters back to their home planet, Sailor Saturn died and was reborn. After her rebirth, Hotaru was adopted by Sailors Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Hotaru remembered nothing of her past, but showed intelligence beyond her years. She also aged from infancy to childhood within a few short months. After the Dead Moon Circus appeared, the spirit of Sailor Saturn awoke in Hotaru and the child quickly became a teenager. Reawakened, Sailor Saturn joined the other senshi in their fight against Queen Nehellania.

After the Dead Moon's defeat, Hotaru returned to live with the Outer Senshi and retained all her memories of her past lives as Saturn and Hotaru. It was quite a happy and peaceful time for Hotaru, but her happiness was shattered when Chibiusa said that she wanted to visit her family in the 30th Century. Around that time, the Outer Senshi returned to the castles on their respective planets to protect the Solar System from a new enemy. Hotaru was left in the care of Luna and Artemis while they were away, but, sensing danger, Sailor Saturn followed shortly after her comrades. She was captured by Galaxia and her star seed was corrupted. After a strenuous battle between Galaxia and Sailor Moon, Sailor Saturn's star seed, along with the other senshi, was returned to the Galaxy Cauldron, where Sailor Saturn was revived.

Hotaru now lives in the 30th Century. Her closest friends are Chibiusa and the Sailor Quartet.

Senshi Fuku:
Starting at her brow, Sailor sports a silver tiara with an oval amethyst at its center. Her earrings are silver miniatures of the planet Saturn with a set of tapered briolette diamonds dangling below them. Her choker is violet with a small, 18-point, star-shaped crystal.

The base of Sailor Saturn's uniform is a white bodysuit with pointed, petal-like sleeves at her shoulders. Her sailor collar is violet with three white stripes lining the rim. Her front and back bow are both maroon. Her brooch is an 18-point crystal, like the one on her choker, but larger. Her pleated skirt is violet and dips to create a v-shape around her waist.

Her gloves are white with three bands of violet fabric at the elbows, where her gloves end. Her heeled boots are also violet and come up to her knees; they have white laces.

Powers:
– Death Reborn Revolution is one of Saturn's most powerful attacks. (It is probably second only to her world destruction attack, in which she silently swings her glaive down.)
– Silence Wall creates a protective barrier around Sailor Saturn and allies.
– Silence Glaive Surprise is another defensive attack, which creates a mist.
Weapons & Magical Items:
– Saturn Crystal is the source of Sailor Saturn's power. No one is certain of the location of Sailor Saturn's crystal as she doesn't use a transformation pen or brooch to transform. Most assume that it's buried inside of Sailor Saturn, as it would be a powerful and dangerous weapon should it ever fall into the hands of the enemy.
– Silence Glaive is Sailor Saturn's signature weapon. The glaive appears along with Saturn after she transforms.

Hotaru breathed a sigh as the bell sounded the end of the school day. Students began packing their bags and the teacher instructed the class to read through chapters 4-6 for homework. Hotaru jotted the assignment down in her planet before packing her own bag. She glanced at her watch; she had twenty minutes to get to cram school. At least I'll see Chibiusa on the way, she thought.

Hotaru didn't like this year. She and Chibiusa were so busy that they rarely had time to spend together. It was disheartening for the shy sixteen-year-old. She almost preferred it when they were going to different schools. Perhaps because they felt more of an urgency to make time together. Now they walked to school together (instead of just part of the way before splitting off), saw each other in the halls, walked home together.

Chibiusa was much more sociable than Hotaru was, too. There was no doubt that Chibiusa had already made friends in her own class. Hotaru bit her lip, fighting back her childish fears, before exiting the classroom and walking into the halls. The main body of students had already cleared out of the halls. Hotaru could see them walking outside. Another sigh unconsciously left her mouth as she made her way down the stairs to the lockers. She took off her school shoes and slipped on her regular ones. She went outside.

She could see Chibiusa at the gates of the school. She was smiling and laughing, talking to another girl from her class—at least, that's what Hotaru figured. Hotaru cautiously approached.

“Well, I have to go, Usa-chan. See you tomorrow!” the other girl said, waving as she went.

“Yup! See you, Keiko!” the pink-haired girl replied.

“Hi Chibiusa-chan,” Hotaru greeted quietly.

“Hi Hotaru! Ready for cram school?” Chibiusa said, Hotaru thought, a little teasingly.

“Yeah,” the raven-haired girl replied. The friends began their trek to Hotaru's cream school, a strange silence drifting between them. “You know, you don't have to walk with me if you don't want to, Chibiusa-chan,” she added after a moment.

“Of course I want to walk with you!” her friend affirmed, beaming. “Why would you think that I wouldn't?”

Hotaru smiled kindly at her friend. “I don't know,” she confessed.

“Let's do something together this Saturday!” Chibiusa suggested suddenly.

“Yes, let's!” Hotaru agreed. Her childish fears of losing her best friend vanished from her mind as they talked and planned for the weekend.
