So remember way back when season 3 of crystal started, and we heard the opening and (first) ending themes for the first time? A lot of us argued that the songs should have been switched, the ending the opening, and the opening the ending.

Well, today I found a youtube video that did just that! They even adjusted for time so it matched! The original versions of the opening and ending are on the top, the edited-for-time are on the bottom. I think they match well, though I've grown accustomed to the second ending song playing while Uranus and Neptune are being all romantic.

What do you guys think?

Whilst I absolutely love Michiru and Haruka's ballad, I think it being a closing song was the right way to go because it just seems so fitting. Like, I think it works as a closing song because it focuses on non-titular characters, whilst the opening mostly focused on Usagi. The opening song is a lot more upbeat and hyped in comparison to the ballad, and whilst it is gentle, it does get the hypeness across- unlike the ballad where it's consistently gentle. I don't know, that's my take on it, but I quite like them the way they are because they just seem to fit well- but kudos to the creator of this because it does look great.

I have to agree with Kronos! I like them just the way they were chosen to be in the series opening and ending. Although I do like the edited version you posted!

I'm not a huge fan of either song, but the ballad works way better as the opener imo. I don't like the intro song being the closer though so that's kind of a predicament lol

Well this revived out of nowhere lol. I'll admit, I found that I actually enjoy the original setups better-though the time edited opening to match eternal eternity was really cool. Glad people are enjoying my teeny find!

I've listened to it a few times now, and I have to admit that I really did not like the swap in the beginning, but that was mainly becaused I was used to the normal version. After I listened to it again a few times, I must say that I really like the Opening with Eternal Eternity in terms of Music. The parts with Saturn and the end with Uranus Neptune and Pluto really works great together. The only part that felt off to me, were the part where Usagi turns into Super Sailor Moon and the flying afterwards.
The ending with New Moon still doesn't sound right to me. Several parts feel off to me, especially the part where Uranus and Neptune lie together.

If you look lyricwise, the swap doesn't fit at all, but I think that's only logical. I still like the normal versions more, but I have to say that Eternal Eternity sure works great with the opening. Thanks for showing us!

The way I see it is I think the ending would have worked fine as an opening but it doesn't work with the opening animation that exists.  Because this song is so clearly produced to be a Haruka and Michiru song and the opening animation is produced to be a song about all the Sailor Moon characters.  So like if they switched the songs but produced some different animation that was more focused on the Outers specifically, the song would work fine as an opening.  But it just doesn't work for the existing animation because it's not made for that animation.
