| Sailor Aran / Sailor Starlight / Sailor AranisThe One Who Started It All About the CharacterWhen I was in middle school, my best friend introduced me to Sailor Moon. The moment I saw it, I loved it. A few weeks after watching the first episode that I saw, I had a dream about being a sailor soldier: Sailor Aran. That immediately made me think, "Wow, what if I was a sailor scout? What would that be like?" and I created Princess Aurora / Sailor Aran. In all ways, she was the idealized self-insertion character that a child makes. I even wrote her an entire fanfiction, posted online one chapter at a time from a free website service that required a new account for each single page. (I still have a printed copy of it, but that is one for the archives.) I even made her a team of sailor soldiers based on my friends at school. It was the right time and place for that kind of thing. I even went online and joined a Sailor Moon-themed RPG, with a site built on Angelfire and a free forum hosted elsewhere. My very first RP experience, with Sailor Nakitama and co. (*tear*) It's probably better that none of that can be found online anymore. Later, after hearing too many people say "Sailor Iran? Why did you name her after Iran?" I changed her name to "Sailor Starlight" (ah yes, so original). A few years later, realizing that there were a heck of a lot of other "Sailor Starlight" characters out there... AND learning about the canon Sailor Starlights... I changed her name to "Sailor Aranis". Her character concept hasn't changed much, but she gets periodically revamped to suit my current tastes and growth as someone who creates characters. Initially she was a princess, very much like Princess Serena (what a surprise) in status, who traveled to Earth after her planet was destroyed. She had a love interest, Prince Uctolen, who also could become a magical protector à la Tuxedo Mask. Her personality was basically nonexistent. Her story was a lot of pre-teen wishful thinking. "What if I went shopping with the sailor scouts? What if I was friends with them! What if I stayed at Serena's house?" In the first RP, which lacked any canon Sailor Moon characters, she was a girl without a home, stuck on Earth, confused, and slowly awakening to magical powers. It was pretty cliché. ^_~ In my teenage years, which felt dark and sad, her character history and such responded in turn, becoming dark and sad. Now her friends were dead, and then she was dead, and a lot of people were dying, and she died again, with so many angsty, angsty people running around. Unfortunately for the character, I wound up getting particularly inspired by tormenting her, so her current status isn't exactly all rainbows and sunshine. But who knows, maybe I'll change it again someday! ^_~

| Characters Used in The Galaxy Cauldron Forums RPsI really like making characters. I can take almost any concept and come up with something.  And getting to use characters in RPs is lots of fun!  She's the first one that I designed to use here! Sailor Nocturnus combines my love of "little kid" characters (she's 12) with my interest in opera. (She's based on The Magic Flute "Die Zauberflöte" by Mozart.) She's fought in several Hardcore Events.  Sailor Panzer is a playful nod to the fact that I find tanks utterly fascinating.  When it came time to make a new character for the next round of Hardcore Events, I decided I wanted to use amplification/resonance as my inspiration. Then I started thinking about how much I'd like to have a non-human... but not the same kind of non-human that had already appeared in other events. So I made this rock.  I really like ballet. That is all. (It's not actually "all"... I really like ballet. I could make all of my characters ballet-related and still not be satisfied.)  This happened after a brief discussion regarding that "Sailor Sun" and "Sailor Earth" could not be done. JTC took the bait for Sailor Earth. Hopefully they'll have a storyline together someday. Sailor Sun is very volatile and probably will wind up evil.  I needed a villain, Black Moon Clan seemed like a good general time period, so I took a gemstone that hadn't been used yet and recruited her into the ranks. She's a non-precious gemstone (the precious gems are Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald ohhhhhhh see what Naoko did there) so she's not in charge of anything super important... but she'd like to be! Sailor Orphelin (Misaki Togawa) Sailor Orphelin is the solitary survivor of a sailor soldier court. She was once a princess of a distant system, living on the planet Eternite under her mother's rule. She had a team of guardians to protect her, another team to repel invaders from their system, and the love and loyalty of a young man. They won many battles, joining their powers around Princess Lisette and eventually Sailor Eternite... but one day, they were defeated. Only the princess has been reborn, but she is incomplete without her friends and cannot access her true powers. I wanted something dramatic. ;D Sailor Merope (Claire Francoeur) Another character based on ballet, intended to be part of a Pleiades team of sailor soldiers.  For an alternate universe, Koan if she were a sailor soldier acting as guardian for Princess Esmeraude. Her powers are dark fire based.  Diva (Hanyuu Mimi "Mimette") Another alternative universe character, this time Mimette as she might exist in an X-Men type of superhero scenario.  A crossover this time—Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen as a sailor soldier. (She spent a lot of time fretting about Anna.) |
