I have a kind of head canon about the Sailor Crystals during the Silver Millennium. 

When the planets first developed their crystals for Sailor Scout use, the people of each planet had to decide who would be given it. So they developed a kind of difficult task that would test the abilities and qualities that each culture valued the most to see who deserves the power the most. 

Examples: Jupiter's test would involve bravery and protection, Mercury's would be a test of wit, Mars would have a more spiritual based test, and Venus would have a test of love and duty.

The one person who managed the task first would get the Sailor Crystal and become the Sailor Scout of their planet, reincarnating with the crystal inside them again whenever they died. The winner also became the ruler of the planet, as its princess. The current scouts are all reincarnations of their respective planet's royal line, started by the original winners of the crystals.

^Oh that's a good one. Personally I've never exactly liked the idea that the Scouts are always reincarnating, but that's me, and your idea does seem like something that would fit with the material. And it does make sense that if the crystals were to used only by their respective royals that somewhere along the line they proved they were worthy of having them.

I always wondered exactly how each Scout was picked long ago, and it made no sense for the crystals to just get handed out like candy to anyone. And if the Scout betrayed their ideals and died, or voluntarily gave their power up, then the crystal would be up for grabs again for another person who proved themselves as worthy.

I've had similar ideas. And I guess you would want to make sure you're making the right choice when you are handing someone, say Sailor Jupiter, the power to throw lightning at will.

But could you imagine if it was random? It would be like:

"We shall give these crystals of power to the first people we can find. You there! You shall be Sailor Venus! What? No you can't use it to make your ex-love you again! Stop that!"

"You! You shall have the power of Sailor Mars...oh, a convicted arsonist you say? Um..."

"You shall have the power of Sailor Neptune! Wait, what do you mean you can't swim?"

And so on and so forth.

I just came up with another couple of headcanon explanations.

The transformation objects don't give a Sailor Scout power, they actually limit it. Everyone is reincarnated with their full power in their respective Sailor crystal, but their new physical bodies can't handle all that magic at once without getting used to it first. The transformation pens give them a weak attack to start with so they don't accidentally burn themselves out before they can handle a higher level one. And if they ignore the power limit, they die after going past it.

This explains why Rei, Minako, Ami, and Makoto died at D point in the anime after using more powerful attacks, but then later on start to develops stronger ones naturally before getting another pen. They finally adjusted enough to their magic to master a new form, so the cats got them new stuff. It's like training with weights at the gym.

The second theory is based off actual astronomy. The Silver and Golden Crystals are linked because they were created from the same event. When Earth was still forming as a planet and had a regular old Earth Crystal like the others, another planet around Mars's size collided with it. The smaller planet was destroyed, but Earth stayed together and absorbed some of the pieces into itself, and the loose bits of Earth and the other planet created the Moon. Both the Earth and Moon have shards of the planet that no longer exists in their crystals, so they ended up very similar and react to each other's magic.

In my fics NQS lets the senshi get married and have families, it just seems so wrong for her to want her friends to be alone. And also the other senshi can have multiple kids, boys and girls. They rule over their respective planets as Queens. The senshi have Princess senshi forms like Princess sailor moon and dark ones like darkury.

Ami and Urawa kept an off screen long distance relationship in the anime.

Well, after a long time, and other things getting in the way, I finally got back to finishing my kingdom headcanons. So now I move on to Neptune.

The Neptunian Kingdom

Neptune. It’s a beautiful planet, and in astrology, it’s equally captivating. It’s the planet of the mystical, the spiritual and the mysterious, of illusion, enchantment, and the otherworldly. Its influence in life is subtle, unlike that of Uranus. It was discovered in 1846, when there was renewed interest in spiritualism. And ten years after that, Sigmund Freud was born. Neptune rules dreams, fantasy, and the subconscious. It is the planet of imagination, of enlightenment or delusion. The influence of Neptune in astrology is said to define what kind of ideals you have, how psychic and visionary you are, or whether you possess magnetic allure.

It rules over Pisces the fish, the romantic dreamer and poet of the zodiac. Pisces is the one that looks at the world through rose colored glasses and gives a wistful, romantic sigh. Pisces in itself has been granted otherworldly qualities, emphasized by it being the sign that finishes the cycle of the zodiac.

Like the other gas planet kingdoms, the people of Neptune lived on the many moons that orbited their planet. Every moon was referred to as a separate state, and all of them were ruled under the monarchy. The kingdom of Neptune would have been the smallest of the gas planet kingdoms based on number of states, 13 (As if 2013 a 14th moon was spotted, and is awaiting confirmation and official naming.).

The home of the princess of Neptune was given as Triton Castle. Therefore, the monarchy must have ruled from the capital of the moon of Triton. This makes sense. Triton is more than Neptune’s first known moon (discovered 17 days after Neptune). It is the largest by far. Triton had the largest population of all the moons.

Real world Triton is also unique for a few other things. It orbits Neptune in the opposite direction of all the other moons. In real life, it is also one of the coldest things in the Solar System. It has ice geysers and ice volcanoes. I am not kidding. But back in ancient times, Triton was not like this at all. Oh, it had cold places, but it had a good average temperature and was covered mostly by deep oceans.

In fact, all the moons were covered largely in water. Neptune was a society obsessed with the ocean. Most of their cities were on the coast. Those that were landlocked had extensive irrigation to bring water in. They were home to countless pools, canals, fountains, etc. In fact, swimming pools, fish ponds, and fountains were common elements of Neptunian residences, and swimming and water sports (such as surfing) were very popular here. These people learned to swim very early. In fact, it would have been mortifying for a Neptunian not to know how to swim.

Water supply issues were solved by their invention of, and heavy use of, desalinization. For religious reasons I will get to later, these people hated water pollution above all else, and so were very strict on that. They required water to be treated in all stages (for reference, the water treatment process has three stages, but only stages 1-2 are usually required by law). Also, Neptune had several cities built under the water as well as on land, a necessity for space reasons. And they were heavy employers of water recycling methods. They also drew a large portion of their power from hydroelectricity and tidal energy.

Neptune was home to a wide variety of undersea plant life and fish. They had the most beautiful and vibrant coral reefs, ones they were fiercely protective of. One of their known species of fish was the Mosquito Fish, which is pretty much what it sounds like. They were little fish that lived in groups and acted like mosquitos. Other strange creatures included a rather hostile and carnivorous breed of starfish. It would actually bite people.

The last rulers of Neptune were King Poseidon and Queen Amphitrite. Amphitrite in Greek mythology was first Poseidon’s wife, but was later downgraded to his consort, and further downgraded to a representation of the sea. The Romans called her Salacia, goddess of seawater.  A symbol of authority for the king was a golden trident. There were ceremonial tridents of course, ones that had the edges taken off and points flattened for safety. But let it be noted King Poseidon had one that wasn’t blunted, and he knew how to use it.

Pisces is a water sign, the element of emotion. So like the society of the Moon, Neptunians were a very emotionally open and expressive people, unlike, say Mercury or Uranus. Pisces is also known for powerful intuition, bordering on or being psychic. So the people of Neptune had deep trust in intuition, again similar to Lunar society. Just as some view Uranus as a higher octave of Mercury, the same people view Neptune as a higher octave of Venus.

Neptune has sway over artistic and aesthetic things, but on a higher, more spiritual level. So the kingdom of Neptune was a very artistically inclined one. Neptune and Venus had good relations over their shared love of the arts, and the musicians of Mercury often interacted with those of Neptune.  Neptune also rules over movies, so it had the Solar System equivalent of Hollywood.

Since both Neptune and Pisces are associated with the spiritual, and an interest in a higher plane, the people of Neptune were a very spiritual and religious group. Because of this inclination, Neptune was known for being extremely tolerant of religious practices, and had quite a variety spread across their moons. The largest of these groups was still, of course, the native one, centered around the goddess Pisces. And statistically speaking, the ones with sea iconography were more popular, though that was probably not a surprise.

Of course there were also some weird ones. There was one man who proclaimed on the streets some strange belief about “Great Old Gods” or some such thing, spouting apocalyptic nonsense and talking about something called Cth…um…Ctha…

You know, nobody really remembered whatever the poor man said. For one thing, most of the names and words he was spouting were unpronounceable. For another, this monster he was describing, whatever it was apparently had a tentacle beard of some sort. At the point he said that, people stopped listening. Not that the Neptunians didn’t believe in monsters, certainly not. But they just couldn’t take the thought of a tentacle beard seriously. I mean have you ever heard anything so silly?

The most likable trait of Pisces is compassion. It empathizes strongly with others and hates to see others suffer. Pisces is a sign with a big, open heart ready to lend aid to anything and anyone. So in Neptunian society, there was great emphasis on compassion, on remembering the feelings of others, and on making sacrifices for the sake of others. Charities and similar organizations abounded here.

The sign of Pisces loves fantasy and romance. So this was a society that had a particular love of both, making them dominate genres among the media generated from here.

Neptune also rules over hospitals and anesthetic. Neptune had a lot of medical facilities, and invented anesthetic in the ancient past, for which everyone was grateful. They had a great thing for pharmacology thanks to the large biodiversity (number of different species in an area) of their oceans, particularly the plants. They were also the biggest experts in the marine sciences.

Since Neptune rules hypnosis and the subconscious, exploration of the subconscious mind and dreams was very popular on Neptune. They even invented hypnosis and pioneered dream interpretation. The people of Neptune were also known to have better dream memory retention, and tended to dream more vividly.

Neptune of course has a dark side too. Compassion can be taken advantage of, and Neptune can be a planet of deception. With so many charities, don’t think there weren’t fakers and con-artists. Oh no, a place so filled with charities and so geared to compassion attracted people like that. In fact, one of the big challenges for Pisces is not becoming a human door-mat, becoming a victim by getting swept up in helping others.

Pisces can sometimes help so very much that it forgets itself, turning self-sacrifice into martyrdom. The Pisces personality type also tends to attract co-dependent relationships, so that was a more common social issue on Neptune. But there was one issue out of all of them that plagued Neptune the worst. That issue was…the drug rings.

Yes, I said that. Neptune fought a serious war on drugs, and always had. In astrology, Neptune rules over drugs and alcohol. The Pisces personality type has great inner strength, but besides martyrdom being one of its challenges, Pisces has one other big pitfall. Like other water signs, it has issues with fear. And the type is also prone to escapism, partly because it doesn’t know its own inner strength. A personality of such a description would logically be more vulnerable to drug and alcohol addiction, or other self-destructive behavior in the search for escape. It is part of why Pisces is sometimes called the sign of Self-Undoing or Sorrow. No offense, that’s just the basic personality outline, which even by astrology standards is not meant to represent a complete human being.

The drugs were made, again, from the large variety of undersea plants. Some of them weren’t that bad side effects wise, but others were wretched. Of notoriety in the years of the Silver Millennium was a substance called “ambrosia”, made from an odd strain of kelp. It acted as a very powerful hallucinogen. The reaction was volatile, producing behavior that could only be described as complete madness.

There was an incident involving a couple of Mercurians. They were conmen and had been tricking people out of their money by claiming to be a homeless charity. They decided to try ambrosia. Of course Mercurians had sensitive nervous systems. The ambrosia was so strong that their brains were practically rewired to run backwards. Thankfully they were taken to a hospital and recovered. Neptune had developed the best rehab programs thanks to hard experience.

Now as far as alcohol went, it was actually banned in the kingdom of Neptune. You couldn’t make alcohol (except the medical variety), and alcoholic drinks could not be imported. Now this wasn’t because of any temperance movement or religious tradition or anything like that. The reasoning was purely practical.

See, one of the things alcohol does is that it dehydrates. Neptunian physiology was such that while they possessed the same quantity of water in their bodies as an Earthling, they needed a larger proportion of it to stay alive. So it would take less water loss for them to become critically dehydrated, and it was easier to dehydrate them. Alcohol was dangerous to them. Their livers weren’t any more sensitive than anyone else’s, but when it came to alcohol, they didn’t process it well at all, taking at least twice as long as an Earthling to filter it.

For someone like Michiru, these facts have several ramifications. It would mean that Michiru wouldn’t need to drink very much before she would be completely drunk, as her body would develop a backlog of alcohol much faster.

This would also mean that her blood alcohol level would be much higher for a given number of drinks as compared to someone else. Also, it would take significantly less alcohol for her to develop acute alcoholic poisoning and die. And that’s why alcohol was banned. “Drinking” still existed as a social activity of course, but Neptunians just drank fruit juices.

Of course there was one incident late in history where Duke Dionysus, brother to the king of Jupiter, was part of a visiting party to Neptune. Dionysus was a wretched pig and a heavy drinker. So during the party, he spiked the refreshments with some of the stash he’d smuggled in, very strong varieties too. Either he hadn’t been informed of his host’s intolerance of the stuff, or, more likely, he hadn’t cared.

The result was an entire team of ambulances having to rush everyone to the hospital, with several close calls. King Poseidon got very close to introducing his trident (the non-ceremonial one) to Dionysus’s internal organs. And Queen Amphitrite, several of whose close friends were now hospitalized, was ready to drop Dionysus in a tank of Megalodons. But Zeus managed to smooth things over. But Dionysus was banned from setting foot in the kingdom of Neptune ever again.

(On an ironic note, the man who discovered Triton was an amateur astronomer. He made a fortune in the brewery business and it was with that money that he bought the telescopes with which he discovered Triton.)

The Neptunian populations also had a greater proportion of people with psychic powers. And it is at this point that I should bring out my usual discussion on clarifying “psychic”.

Psychic is a vague word that encompasses a lot of powers, from seeing the future, to reading minds, to lifting objects, etc. According to those that believe in such things, this is how they break it down. The category of “psychic” breaks into two large sub-categories. These are Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) and Psychokinesis (PK).

All abilities under ESP are those that involve gaining information through ways other than the direct five senses. Clairvoyance (French for clear seeing) means getting extra information and interpreting it through the sense of sight and ONLY sight, but it’s not something you can see in front of you. Compare to Clairaudience (clear hearing), which is the same, but with sound. This also includes things like mind reading, telepathy, precognition, or precognitive dreaming.

PK abilities are those things that affect the world around you, like telekinesis, or, like from Superman the animated series, pyrokinesis. The difference between the two is compared to a radio receiver and transmitter. ESP is the receiver, able to take signals in from the world, but not send out. PK is a transmitter, able to send out but not take in. People can manifest things from one category, the other, or both.

Of the portion of Neptunians that had psychic powers, most of those only developed forms of ESP. You might find some telepathic Neptunians engaging in active mental conversations.

Also because of whatever mental developments that allowed for these powers, a number of mental and emotional disorders were more common among the population, things like depression, bipolar disorder, or even a total breakdown of sanity. There were lots of mental hospitals and institutions here, things under Neptune’s rule. Even those with psychic powers sometimes had mental breakdowns, particularly those telepaths who couldn’t shut out the thoughts of those around them, and were overwhelmed by the noise.  

The religion of Neptune revolved around a central figure, the goddess Pisces. Pisces was depicted as a woman, but also as a fish. According to myth, she took the shape of one to save Nereus, who would later be the first king of Neptune, from Typhon.

Typhon and his consort Echidna were the devil figures of Neptune, creators of all sorts of terrible monsters, and bringers of storms. Such monsters included the stories about fish men that lived in deep, forgotten and black-watered lagoons, or the great beast Leviathan that dwelt in the deep open waters. Needless to say, Neptunian sailors, like all sailors, were quite superstitious.

Fish and other seafood formed the backbone of Neptunian diet, and Neptunians always offered thanks before eating fish. Considering the whole “goddess in the form of a fish” thing, it’s only sensible. Although the Ichthus Fish, or “Pisces Fish” was untouchable, since it was considered the fish that Pisces took the shape of. It was a royal symbol, along with such creatures as dolphins.

On a side note, the seafood diet did cause some issues. When the Moon first sent dignitaries to Neptune, the Neptunians were somehow not made aware of the Moon’s cultural taboo at eating crustaceans. So when the Neptunians served crab to their guests at dinner… awkward didn’t even begin to describe what happened.

Temples to Pisces were frequently built deep into sea caves. The temple of the royal capital actually had a stairway down under the building into such an undersea cave, a long passageway lit by torches. The main room was large and connected to glass dome offering a view of the ocean, and casting weird shadows on the cave walls.

It was in that place that Michiru, at a young age, gave a musical performance for a ceremony. The song she’d written echoed off the walls, a beautiful melody. (Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiBdb-oqCBo)

And then something strange happened. The fish on the other side of the dome began to gather around, and then began to move to the music, even though they couldn’t possibly hear it, dancing in time with her. After that, the king and queen knew she was the one to inherit the power of the Neptune Crystal out of all her siblings.

Neptunian religion was like spiritualism, believing in ghosts and in contact with the dead, who resided in a place called the Sea of Souls. The Neptunians were also great believers in reincarnation, saying it was part of the ebb and flow of the Sea of Souls. And as far as burial practices, many of them preferred burial at sea, but an equal number also buried their dead in undersea tombs. The monarchy had such an undersea tomb.

The people of Neptune made heavy use of the sea, and not just for food. Common materials of adornment and decoration included coral, pearls, and shells. They also loved aquamarine, and turquoise. They turned shells into instruments or tools and even carved art and designs into the larger ones. They also used shark teeth as well (they preferred using discarded ones).

One other exotic material they got from the ocean was sea silk. It was a thread produced by a clam that could be finer than silk, but was still light and warm, though it did attract moths. It was always gold in color.

And by the way, sea silk was a real thing. It is, or rather was made from the pen shell. I say was because the pen shell is now endangered, near extinct, so production of this material is basically non-existent. But the variety of the Neptunians was in better supply. They had breeding programs. And they made whole bunches of clothes, or even gloves (and you can see a picture of real gloves made from real sea silk too) out of it.

Neptune was also known for mining platinum, the metal linked with Neptune and Pisces. It is more valuable than gold on the open market, so it helped Neptune be fairly wealthy, not like Venus or Jupiter, but up there nonetheless. They also really liked water lilies, and the palace gardens were full of them.

In keeping with previous themes, the Deep Aqua Mirror was also a royal treasure of Neptune. Originally it had been commissioned by a rather shy Neptunian prince as a birthday gift for a lovely young lady from the moon of Galatea. He’d had quite the crush on her you see.

He made sure to have the mirror made from the finest sea sand and the frame crafted from solid gold and painstakingly decorated and detailed. The young lady in question later became his queen, and the mirror remained her most loved possession, one that she passed down to her family.

The mirror’s original owner had possessed strong precognitive abilities. That, combined with how treasured the thing had been to her, and the magic of the Neptune Crystal, somehow resulted in the mirror being enchanted with the same precognitive powers.

And on another note, I’ll mention again an event I created in my last headcanon document. Michiru met Haruka at a masquerade ball held between Neptune and Uranus. Haruka had been dressed as one of her famous ancestors, while Michiru had been dressed as one of the mythical attendants of Pisces. Said attendants would not only serve the goddess, but would sing as well. These roles were mimicked in ceremonies and they were called the sirens. After the fall of the Silver Millennium, this idea would inspire the mythical creature.

As far as their relationship, I don’t think there would be much of an issue. Pisces is a mutable sign, which means it is adaptable, changeable. So I don’t see the Neptunians as having too much of a problem. There would of course be issues of royal inheritance to work out however.

The people of Neptune were excellent swimmers, able to hold their breath for longer than a normal human. They were also able to dive deeper than humans, being a bit more resistant to the pressure, as well as being more resistant to decompression sickness.

Pisces rules the feet, toes, and mucous membranes. Neptunians had graceful and well-shaped feet. Neptunian styles of dancing were usually slow and graceful, requiring careful footwork. Their feet were sensitive, so they didn’t take well to long periods of standing.

Neptunians also suffered hypersensitivity in their feet. Hypersensitivity is a real problem you can see in people with ADD/ADHD. For example, some people with ADD have to wear seamless socks because they are so very irritated by the feel of the seams. The Neptunians were the same. It was common for them to have trouble finding shoes to accommodate their feet.

The people of Neptune frequently liked to go barefoot inside of their homes, or wear slippers. Some even preferred walking barefoot outside. But because of the sensitivity and delicate nature of their feet, they were more prone to injuries there, bruises, stubbed toes, corns, or bunions. They were also more prone to athlete’s foot and other foot fungal infections. And gout tended to affect their toes.

Despite some of their water-related advantages, the Neptunians were not known for having robust constitutions. They suffered more from colds and sinus problems. Neptune rules the thalamus, the part of the brain that controls stimuli to and from the senses. So the Neptunians had heightened senses compared to humans.

Physically, Neptunians tended to have large, luminescent eyes and mouths that were often described as “sensuous”. Wavy hair was also dominant among the population, followed by curly hair. Hair colors in shades of blue or green or somewhere between the two were also very common among the population, with blonde being a runner up after those. Shades of brown hair on the other hand were very uncommon.

The Neptunians had the best navy, and liked using things like harpoons, tridents, and nets in close combat.

Also, diseases similar to cholera would have caused even larger disasters on Neptune than on Earth, all because of the dehydration issue mentioned earlier. Cholera kills through rapid dehydration. An outbreak of any disease like that on Neptune would’ve easily gotten a death toll in the thousands. Because of that, diseases of that nature were of grave concern on Neptune, and strict regulations were put in place to keep such bacteria from crossing the border.

And that’s it. Tell me what you think. I also put in a couple of references in there. One was for literature (which should be easy). But the other was to an old but well-regarded movie. Can anyone tell me what those references were?

I have a small headcannon for Chibiusa.   

For a few years, all of Sailor Chibimoon's powers are pretty weak and uncontrollable.  In fact, the sailor quartet quickly become stronger than her.  This starts to give her a ton of anxiety every time she goes into battle.

This is not because Chibiusa is weak, but because she is so busy trying to emulate Sailor Moon and become like her mother that she can't see where her own powers lie.

Eventually, Chibiusa learns that she is not, nor will she ever be, her mom.  Once that happens she will suddenly blossom.  She learns how to control and harness her powers (which I think would be more offensive that Sailor Moon's attacks) and she is able to take her place as the leader of her team.

My headcanon for the personalities of the shitennou back when the were Endymion's guradians:

Jadeite - Really has no interest in romance and is a bit cold-hearted. To him, his mission comes first and relationships with others comes second. Can sometimes be a bit sexist.

Nephlite - Has an interest in astronomy, especially with stars. The most outgoing and helpful of the four, he is the most likely to help others relax during tense moments.

Zoisite - Likes messing around with others and playing jokes but means no harm by them. Kunzite is the most tolerant of them. Likes to enjoy's Earth's many gardens during downtime.

Kunzite - The most stubborn of the four, he prefers to do things his own way so it's a bit difficult to fight alongside the other guardians. His relationship with Endymion is a bit similar to Rei and Usagi's.

I ship it hard. i just see it going places, but both of them being super dorky with each other all the time.

The only real "headcannon" I have when it comes to Sailor Moon, is that Peruru is the child of Chibiusa and Helios.  He could be capable of time travel like his mother, and like his mother before him doesn't recognize his parents when he meets his mother in the past.  He's a dream fairy, which would tie in to Helios the dream mirrors.  He even has hair a bit like Helios, with that little purple-ish bit that could have come from his mom and her pink hair.

My memory is rather crap, so I'd have to take the time to watch through Super S and the Black Dream Hole movie again to refresh my memory on certain things to be able to explain it better, but yeah.  That's the only one I've really ever had.

My slowly blooming head canon is that the Witches 5 were the Senshi in the alternate dimension where Tau Nebula existed, but they lost and were corrupted by Pharaoh 90 and Mistress 9.

From there, Pharaoh 90 consumed everything in that dimension and was drawn to this one because of the Silver Crystal, and found weaknesses between dimensional walls through Professor Tomoe's experiments.

Finally, and this is quite sad, Pharaoh 90 and co. could've saved both Hotaru and her mother in the lab explosion, but decided to leave that detail out and let Mrs. Tomoe die to better manipulate the Tomoe family while possessing them.

The headcannon i came up with is that the Ayakashi Sisters and Esmeraude are Senshi and are revived by NQS

I kind of like that idea.  I've toyed around with the idea of making Beruche a senshi to join Leona, but at the same time it's always been a pet peeve of mine when people make "original characters" that are just tweaks of canon characters, or direct blood relatives of canon characters, so I've never gone through with the concept.

I have a headcanon about Sera Myu. What if  Loof Merrow was supposed to marry Endimiyon before Serenity? Think about it, no other princesses were stated to have ruled during that time except Serenity (whom Endi wasn't supposed to be interferring with). So maybe he could've ended up with Loof if he hadn't met Serenity? What are your thoughts?

Headcanon!

1. (Anime) The Ginzuishou used throughout Sailor Moon 0 is Queen Serenity's crystal, which is part of the reason why Queen Serenity dies after the final battle at Silver Millennium. She sends her own Ginzuishou in the form of the rainbow crystals which are still sealing the Seven Great Youma. All throughout the first season Usagi's Ginzuishou is in her brooch, while the Queen Serenity's is used on the stick. Like a training Ginzuishou. In the next season the moon stick and Queen Serenity's spent Ginzuishou are lost and a new Henshin brooch and scepter are given to Usagi, and this is when she's finally running on her own steam. 

2. Neo-Queen Serenity looses her ability to transform because she and her Ginzuishou are now the pillar of the New Silver Millennium. Her powers greatly extend the lives of the people of a foreign planet and hold back things like disease and old age, and she's probably having some sort of environmental effect on the planet too. Being the Queen still gives her a lot of power, but the Ginzuishou being in constant use prevents her from becoming Sailor Moon. This also explains her future level up to Sailor Cosmos. Everyone is dead and Earth is barren, the Ginzuishou is free to be used and it's stronger than ever after all the power her own growing team has been pushing through her crystal over all these countless years, and all the experience she's had at being a planetary energizer bunny. (This makes me wonder what Sailor Cosmos' crystal looks like, or if it even takes the form of a crystal anymore, and what the extent of her power might be when she's not broken on the inside by the destruction of her world.)

My headcanon (follows the Manga) is that the silver crystal is able to connect differently with its wielder, depending on their current state. With Usagi, the crystal had to adapt itself to Usagi's current "level" in terms of raw power, which is why once she had become Queen, she could no longer transform. There was no reason to henshin, when her royal duties for other purposes. 

I also believe that it can transfer some aspect of itself to a person's star seed. When Usagi had been pregnant with Chibiusa, I think some part of the crystal's essence infused with Chibiusa's star seed. That would explain why she has her own Pink Moon Crystal and not the Silver Crystal itself. However, since Chibiusa's star seed shares some of it's power with the Silver Crystal, the two can reconnect in order for it to be passed to the next heir of the Moon monarchy.

YOUR FIRST HEADCANON IS ALSO ONE OF MY THEORIES/HEADCANONS. It makes a lot of sense.

1. The series is about intergalactic politics were a generous of sprinkling of magic and/or Clarke's Third Law technologies as well as a combination of petty or ill-thought struggles and larger, scarier ones.

2. I think this is pretty much true given the various senshi we see (as well as the existence of Phobos and Deimos) but I'm going to say it anyway - the various moons of the planets have their own sailor senshi who likely owe allegiance or act as guardians towards their 'parent planet'. As well as the ruling moonies of course.

3. The Silver Millenium is a dystopic utopia - you know what I mean! I have no illusions about the bad guys of the series being bad guys (they are - Demande's criticism of the SM fall flat given what he does for example). There are implications of propaganda and brainwashing on all sides in the manga at least. Usagi is a sugary sweet dictator whether knowingly or not. Sailor Moon's whole shtick is as a warrior of 'love' of course. (Looooooooooooove Meeeeeeeeeeeee!)

I think the live action series did something similar enough to the above (exploring Serenity's powers as a potentially negative thing) but I haven't seen much of it.

4. Everything is technically canon due to time loops/traveling/history being rewritten/reincarnation etc.

I have another headcanin/cool idea? You know how for basically every final battle in the anime Usagi tranforms into Princess Serenity? Well, we know that every Sailor Soldier has a sailor crystal which is the root of their power. What if the other Senshi in their princess forms could do something like Usagi and Serenity does with their respective crystals? (Though not nearly to the extent of power that the Silver Crystal has).

In terms of Saphir X Demand do you view them as actual brothers or clan brothers as someone suggested? If I were to support this ship I would say that I see them as clan brothers. They were obviously raised together but I don't see them as actually blood related - it puts my mind at ease for shipping them.


Though I will always have soft spot for Petz X Saphir - probably because of what went down in the anime.

I think it was mentioned that Saphir and Demand were the only "blood" related members of the Black Moon Clan.  My head cannon is actually a crossover cannon so I'm not sure if I could mention it here.

My head cannon also involves the anime/manga series Ghost Hunt.  Any one here has heard of it?  In my mind, Serenity wasn't an only child but the older twin with Mai(hence my name).  Mai is the holder of an even more powerful crystal, the Rainbow crystal,  and she had disappeared one day.  In the modern day, she has no clue why her intuition is so strong, which the reason for it is the crystal in her body.  Chaos, who is resurrected is looking for it, and the Sailor Scouts have to find and protect her.

My headcanon it that Cyprine of the Witches 5 in the manga is so powerful, yet was not a magus, so she needed a seperate body to hold the extra power, which is why Ptilol exists to hold the extra power. Which is why they are called the Witches 5 instead of 6. Ptilol and Cyprine are one in the same.

a headcanon theory i've adopted thanks to my Lyra character. if Usagi had married Seiya instead of Mamoru, she would have remained more like herself even as she ruled Crystal Tokyo and been a more happy queen. of course she'd still be more mature and unable to transform, but Seiya would have encouraged her to enjoy things even publicly and coaxed her to do stuff to remind her of the woman she was when he met her.

Unlike Mamoru, who may have pushed and encouraged Serenity into the very mature queen we see in the manga, which in reality is why she has this sadness about her, because she misses being the carefree girl she was and has to think too much about being a Queen and possibly has to do most of the work of ruling by herself.
