| [Only admins are allowed to see this link], I'm very glad you like them! So my gift is in the spoiler below because it is a mini-fanfiction, and I just had to hide it from you all because it will tear you apart. On top of the massive angst the fanfiction is full of, MY EVIL BUT SO AMAZING SECRET SANTA is making me choose how it ends. I CAN'T. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT AND I CAN'T CHOOSE AND I HATE YOU FOR MAKING ME CHOOSE BUT I LOVE YOU AT THE SAME TIME. The title of the fanfic literally describes my life right now. But I guess in the spirit of the holidays I will request a happy ending xD Thank you so much Secret Santa <3 I truly enjoyed reading this, and your writing skills are pretty fantastic I greatly appreciate your hard work! - My Gift:
The Agony of Choice Words: 1,989 Featured Characters: Usagi, Nehellenia, Minako, Mamoru (until now xD) Timeline: Alternate Universe Summary/Prologue/Comments/misc.: Hearing of some illegal activities in the underground of Tokyo, Special Agent Tsukino and her colleagues decide to investigate these activities and figure out whether the rumors are true or not. In the end, however, the whole group becomes embroiled in the activities and gets involved with the secret organizations, so that they, at the end, are in great danger themselves and have to fight in order to survive... ___________________________________________________
It’s only a dream.
Tears ran down the usually rosy-tinted cheeks, the face pointing downwards to the dirty white tiles. Where people usually saw a smile, they only found corners of the mouth curved downwards now, the inner half of the lower lip already bloody from the constant biting, torn open from the inward urge to not start sobbing.
No, it’s only a dream.
The deep blue eyes were filled with lacrimal fluid and the normally clear sight gradually turned into a blurry point of view, similar to the attempt of seeing under water. No. It was per se not possible. It wasn’t possible to keep the eyes open. It wasn’t possible to stand by and watch everything.
Come on, just wake up from that dream.
The frantic hands turned to the left and right, up and down, as far as the handcuffs allowed. The wrists were grazed, partially covered with blood, and bruised at the joints which still struggled, despite the low amount of energy, against the of stainless steel made metal ring.
This was no dream.
The feet, already soaked in a puddle of blood, the wrists, in the meantime already dotted with contusions, the lips, bitten open until well into the flesh, the eyes, irritated from the strong squinting and continuous crying – this just couldn’t be a dream.
Second after second, the pain was sent to the brain by every hurt angle and by every hurt corner of the body, the blood inexorably gushing out in the process. “Get me out of here!” Usagi screamed, the voice high-pitched and the soft tone color now rather panicked and screeching. “Let me go!”
It resounded. The doors were still closed, the windows nevertheless plastered with wooden boards. The chair she was sitting on was directed at the badly damaged wall, the silence she was trapped in more pressing than every crowd of people she had ever faced.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!“ Frantically she shook the chair and herself back and forth, bobbed up and down and got, with every second, new wounds at wrists and ankles. The yell was sustained, just like the shaking, and after two minutes of making a racket and completely up until the flesh opened wounds, it then, eventually, arrived. The salvation. A light.
“Quit screaming already, you dumb brat,” it sounded from the grating door behind her, the tall woman with the infinite black hair now once again within reach, the voice as cold-hearted as it was just when they met each other for the very first time. “You’ll get enough attention in a moment, you’ll see.”
The high-heeled leather boots dug their way to the chair with every word that left her mouth, the tone cold and the pace moderate. Usagi’s heart beat with every time the shoes touched the ground faster and faster, the tears rolling down the gentle face in a permanent river.
“Nehellenia, please, I beg you. Do whatever you want, but please-”
With furiously high speed the tip of the boots moved towards Usagi’s upper body, the leg lunged off with dash before and the sleeves of Nehellenia’s jacket already pulled up to the elbows.
Blood ran out of her mouth as she coughed from the hard kick in her torso, the feeling of her stomach, intestine and liver bursting temporarily overwhelming her and causing her body to almost provoke a giant nausea.
“I didn’t ask for your opinion,” the woman dressed in black only said, her eyes fixedly looking down on the young girl, any feeling of mercy or sympathy missing.
“You came here, you spied on me, you wanted to discomfit me. Don’t expect me, after all these things, to give you any sort of special treatment. You invaded my home and now you have to deal with the consequences.”
Once again she raised her foot, once again Usagi felt the torture-like pain, once again the blood flowed in torrents out of her mouth.
“…And now you also soiled my clothes with your disgusting blood…Geez, what am I supposed to do with a mess like you?”
Usagi jerked again, already prepared that the horrendous foot would come at her for another time. However, to her surprise, it didn’t. The squinted eyes gradually started to open; the noises in her surroundings indicated that the woman had obviously turned the chair.
“Why-?”
“Because the actual fun didn’t even start yet, honey.”
Her eyes widened and the pupils gained the upper hand in her iris. The actual fun…didn’t even start yet? Her wrists and ankles were bloodshot, her lips were bitten open, her innards were probably burst, her mouth was full of salty red blood – and the ‘actual fun didn’t even start yet’?
“If I recall correctly, you weren’t the only one invading my home, were you?”
Her jawbones moved downwards, her nostrils widened, her brow was wrinkled. Abruptly her tears stopped running and the heart skipped a beat. The pain was gone and the wrists held still. It couldn’t be…
“Did you really think I’d just let them go? Did you really think I wouldn’t notice people loitering in my house?” A sardonic laughter emerged on Nehellenia’s face, the eyes squinted from enjoyment and the finger slowly moving into a finger-flicking position.
“You chose the wrong game partner.”
The flick sounded and with lightning speed two of Nehellenia’s self-proclaimed helpers appeared, just in tow with…
In less than a second Usagi’s throat dried out and a lump, perceived as big as the gas giant Jupiter, emerged in the shadows of her larynx.
Why didn’t they escape? She faced Nehellenia on purpose – so that they could flee. So why in Heaven’s sake were they still there? Why? Why were they still there now, silenced with duct tape and held in the place by handcuffs? Why?
“Minako! Mamoru!” It only sounded from Usagi’s mouth, her voice, despite the lump in her throat, louder than it was ever before. Tears ran down faster than a lightning could strike a house and within a few seconds, Usagi sat on her chair, the face overflowed with tears and the loud sobbing eventually inevitable.
Her eyes turned around to Nehellenia, to her deathly cold eyes, and what initially looked like grief and sorrow now turned into anger and hatred.
“Oh, this expression is a lot more to my liking, honey,” Nehellenia said powerfully and commandingly, her arms crossed and her body slowly moving to Usagi’s friends. “But guess what! I’ve got an even better surprise for you!”
Confusion was written all over Usagi’s face, worry, however, immediately followed once she saw how Nehellenia stopped dead right behind Minako and Mamoru. What was she up to? What did she want to do with them? It wasn’t that…
Her crossed arms moved and went back to the original position, the left hand, however, this time moving in the direction of her back instead of going back to the jacket pocket where it was at the outset. A gun, filled with bullets and already locked and loaded, shone behind her back and moved towards Minako, the sardonic laughter from earlier coming back again, if not even worse than before.
“You know…I like you. You sit there in that corner and howl like a child that didn’t get their toy from the supermarket, you bob up and down on your chair and sustain thousands of injuries…I mean, somehow one just has to pity you.” She paused for a few seconds and watched how Usagi’s curiosity increased, how the hope in her eyes seemed to glimmer once again. “I’ll make you an offer now, okay? Instead of two…I’ll just shoot one of these two persons. And, of course, friendly as I am, you can choose which one you’d prefer.”
Usagi’s eyes widened anew, the dried tears gradually getting replaced with new ones the second she got the offer from Nehellenia. “How could I…just one second,” she stuttered at first, the low volume, however, quickly turning into loud shouting. “How could I, even just to some extent, decide who needs to get shot and who needn’t? You want to hear my answer? Here you have my answer: Neither one of them is going to get shot! Let them both go, let them both escape – don’t do anything to them and you can do with me whatever you want to do! Please…please just let them go.”
“Oh, didn’t you listen to me…Usagi? This wasn’t an option I gave you.” With a broad grin, Nehellenia pulled a second gun from behind her back, this one directed at Mamoru, and looked Usagi deep into the eyes. “You can choose. Either your friend…or your beloved boyfriend. If you don’t decide…then I’ll just shoot both.”
If you don’t decide then I’ll just shoot both.
If you don’t decide then I’ll just shoot both.
If you don’t decide then I’ll just shoot both.
This last sentence, short and yet more significant than any other sentence in her life, burned into Usagi’s mind, playing again and again, like a single song of a playlist, with each repetition being louder and more dramatic than the one before. Overwhelmed she stared into the void, into the other corner of the room, her dark blue eyes, usually full of emotions and feelings, now nothing more than a device of seeing, her face, once representing the happiness itself, now nothing more than a simple shell of skin.
If you don’t decide then I’ll just shoot both.
“How cruel…,” it only came out in shards. “How cruel…can a person be…to do something horrible like that? How cruel can a person be…to give someone that kind of choice?”
“How could I ever…decide between Minako and Mamoru? How could I…ever decide between my best friend…who protected and supported me already from an early age…and my boyfriend…whom I just love to death? How could I ever say that one human life is more valuable than another one? How…could I…”
Tears fell to the ground, the eyes still directed at the other corner of the room. It just was too hard to look this woman, let alone her friends, in the eyes.
“I can’t do this. Never in a thousand years, I could-”
“Usagi!” She then got interrupted; Minako, who was initially silenced with the duct tape, had been talented enough to free herself from the adhesive prison. “Let her shoot me…okay? Mamoru is your one and only, everyone knows that, and if you let him die now, then it won’t be only you, but also me, who will never forgive you! Even without me, you still have Ami, Rei and Mako-chan – you’ll never be alone, you hear? ...But when you let Mamoru die…then you’ll be – for the rest of your life, up until the very last day – bitterly unhappy!”
Mamoru’s eyes abruptly turned to Minako the second she began talking, not only surprised but also shocked from her request to let her shoot her.
Did she go totally insane now? Did her common sense just leave her all of a sudden? How could he ever allow something this irresponsible? Minako was a way better fighter than he was, she protected Usagi for years and she also supported her wherever and whenever she could. Minako was irreplaceable for Usagi, yes, she was like a sister to her… So how could he allow, just the very idea, to let that important part of her die? How could he ever destroy this friendship? How could he ever look into the mirror, knowing that he allowed Minako’s death?
“Oh, how selfless from your friend! My heart almost bleeds for her!” Nehellenia interrupted and commented Minako’s request to shoot her, putting the gun now directly at her head and waiting for Usagi to finally get an answer. “However, I want to hear your decision…Now!”
A broad grin emerged on her pale face. “Well? What do you say? Whose head do you want me to blow away?”

| Dearest Lyssa, Merry belated Christmas! I hope you had – aside from all the food – nice presents under your Christmas tree, a great feast and lots of fun with your friends and family! And although this message is one two three a few days late, I still want to – nonetheless – give you the last part of my present now. - Spoiler:
(I guess you already knew it was me because of my typical spelling and grammar mistakes xD, but I thought it would be nonetheless nice if I was writing something, considering that you're my writing mentor and all ) - The other part of your gift xD:
The Agony of Choice - Pt. II Words: 1,705 _________________________________________
“Well then?” The same voice could be heard again after a short yet intense pause. “What does our decision look like?”
Her desperate eyes wandered to the left, then to the right, first eyeing Mamoru, then Minako. Their expression was gentle, indulgent, doughty – as if they were just about to say ‘No matter how you’re going to decide, we will always support you and your actions’. How could they…deal with it so easily? How could they forgo their life without hesitation, without even just a whiff of fear? Did they honestly think she was able to come to such a decision?
“I… I can’t do that,” Usagi eventually only muttered under breath, her face pointing downwards and her hands, still caught in the handcuffs, worryingly still. “I don’t want to-”
“Usagi,” Minako interrupted her once more, her look at first harsh, then, however, slowly softening. “It’s alright.” A benevolent, almost encouraging, smile emerged on her soft lips, the blue eyes in less than a second becoming a sign of warmth and kindness. “Or do you want the both of us to be called home to God?”
“Oh, be quiet already!” Nehellenia interfered, a kick in Minako’s back already enough to silence the girl for a few more minutes. “Pesky vermin!”
Her eyes went back to Usagi, the fingers on the triggers making a slow movement as if she was just about to pull them every other second. She waited, not long – just a few seconds, until Usagi returned her look and until her eyes wandered down to the triggers, the joy that spread in Nehellenia’s body becoming greater and greater with every second Usagi turned more desperate. ‘Oh, wonderful, this is just how it has to be’, Nehellenia said to herself, inwardly already giving her best performance of a sardonic laughter. ‘This is exactly what you get for thinking you were a big shot that could do everything they wanted to do.’
“Uh-oh, time is up!” It only came out of her mouth before eventually two loud shots could be heard in the small dark room Usagi and her friends were yet trapped in.
Blood flowed down the chest, tinged the clothes in a dark shade of red, before it fell down to the dirty ground and began to stain the gray tiles.
Never before in her career did she ever need to use a gun. Never before did she ever even just have the slightest idea of what it would sound like once a person got shot. So this is what it sounded like…when muscles, tendons, bones, bloodstreams…when they all got destroyed within a few seconds. The loud bang, followed by a dark red puddle. This was what ‘killing’ really meant.
The amount of effluent blood was tried to avoid as far as possible, the hands covering the wound and the eyes directed at Usagi, the casualty obviously shocked by the sudden hit in the torso.
They fell to the ground, first down on the knees, then directly on the face, until eventually they only looked up to the confused girl, hatred and anger distinctly perceptible in the reddened eyes.
Minako looked right beside her and so did Mamoru. Her eyes had been already squinted, ready to hear the bullet running through her head every second – but now she was lying on the ground, Nehellenia, with two bullet wounds in her torso and a visibly great loss of blood, while the agents, both, shocked and surprised, still sat on their knees, their jaws dropped down and the eyes widened.
Nehellenia’s assistants turned around, back to the door from where the shots originally came from, their hands gradually moving upwards above their heads and their bodies slowly going down on their knees. Would they…die now too?
“Deputy Director Tenoh! Assistant Director Kaioh!” Minako shouted as she turned around, uncertain about whether she should be happy or shocked. “What are you doing here?”
“It took you quite a lot of time to come back to the headquarters,” Michiru answered with a faint smile on her face, the voice tranquilizing yet powerful. “So our squad thought we could pay a visit and see how it goes.”
Haruka…Michiru…Did they know they were in distress? In Usagi’s head everything revolved with lightning speed, the girl on one hand glad that they were still alive, on the other hand, however, shocked to see her opponent with two bullets in the torso and a tremendous loss of blood on the dirty ground.
How was Assistant Director Kaioh able to smile so cordially…although she directed the gun at a living person and pulled the trigger without hesitation just two seconds ago?
“Did you…just…k-ki..?” It only came out in fragments, the state of shock she was trapped in obviously still not overcome yet. Her innocent eyes were only turned towards Nehellenia, unable to face her superiors, let alone her still captured friends.
Haruka closed the eyes and smiled faintly, surprised that Special Agent Tsukino was – after already three years in business – still not able to see delinquents get shot, let alone to shoot them herself. How could they live their life so gullible and careless? Especially when they wished to ‘stop criminals’, how she always said it? “No, we didn’t,” she then, however, only said, knowing it would certainly calm the young blonde in front of her. “We knew you would hate us for the rest of our lives if we would have done it.”
“One bullet went for the shoulder, the other one hit her just above the heart while passing trachea and esophagus,” Michiru continued, the smile on her face still visible up to a certain point. “So it won’t kill her if she gets vetted in a timely fashion.”
With that sentence, Michiru beckoned the paramedics to their room, the lounger built up and prepared for the casualty, the first-aid box in the hands of the backmost assistant already ready to use. Quickly she was brought to the lounger and got carried away with Haruka clapping her on the back and smiling at her just before she left the room entirely. “The both of us will talk later today, yeah?”
Nehellenia, obviously suffering from the blood loss, however, still fully conscious, turned her eyes, filled with hatred, to the Deputy Director in response. “Rot in hell!”
She left the room and Usagi, Minako, Mamoru, Michiru and Haruka, who still had a broad grin on her face, were left alone.
“Well, I guess we should untie them now, don’t you think, Michiru?” _____________________________
“…For their courage and their fortitude to track down and face the most dangerous clan of the last few years, we will now, all of you, Usagi Tsukino, Mamoru Chiba and Minako Aino, officially promote you from a Special Agent to the higher rank, to the Supervisory Special Agent.” The powerful voice of the director resounded in the huge hall the organzation was currently sitting in, the eyes of the thousands of agents only directed at him and the three new Supervisory Special Agents standing just behind him and his lectern. He turned away from the microphone and looked back to his rookies, three badges in his hand and new uniforms, custom-made, for each of them under his arms. “You worked hard and you fought tooth and nail, sometimes you suffered greatly and you surely experienced a bulk of things – I consider it an honor to hereby invest you with these three badges today.”
One after another they received their gifts, put their badges on, packed their uniforms away and eventually shook the Director by the hand. But what seemed to be a day of fortune, turned out to be a day of agony for Usagi.
As far as possible she tried to smile, tried to look around with these warm loving eyes she usually had – but somehow it just did not want to work. Constantly her head began to point downwards, just like the corners of her mouth, the young blonde appearing rather absent and depressed than anything else.
“Usagi?” She then came back to reality, only when Mamoru's soft voice managed to penetrate her bustle of thoughts. She looked up to him and his deep blue eyes, eyed his spruced up hair and his clear-cut features – and found, despite all the congratulations and eulogies he had experienced that day, next to no sign of joy or gratitude.
“Usagi, what’s wrong?” He eventually said and Usagi understood what was worrying him now. It was her.
“It is nothing,” she responded, hoping he wouldn’t notice she was lying. But who was she kidding anyway? Mamoru knew her, aside from Minako, better than every other person in this building.
“I know that there is something bothering you. What is it?”
“It’s nothing – really…I just don't want to have that new rank we got today.” Mamoru’s eyes widened, surprised by Usagi’s aversion to the promotion. He watched how she was looking down to the ground again, how the sad expression in her face was emerging anew and how, slowly but surely, tears seemed to well up in her already reddened eyes. “Let’s be honest, what did I even accomplish? If Haruka and Michiru wouldn’t have come, then neither one of us would have been alive now. I was faced with a decision and I wasn’t able to make one. I didn’t distract them properly and as a result they caught all of you just after I told you to flee. Both of you suffered from so much pain…and it’s just because of me. I…don’t deserve this promotion. I am-”
Interrupted by Mamoru, Usagi suddenly found herself in his protecting arms, in this welcoming home that always gave her a feeling of safety and security. She laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes, tears running down her face while a faint smile was slowly starting to emerge. She enjoyed the sweet scent that came from his jacket and eventually gave him a squeeze – and what was supposed to be a modest act of encouragement eventually turned into an intense and endless embrace.
“Thanks to you we are all still alive,” Mamoru raised his voice after a while and looked down to his smaller girlfriend. “You did everything properly.”
But now, let’s get back to the good ol’ tradition, right? This is probably the third or fourth present now…and I mean, what would all these presents be if I wouldn’t carry on these traditions and give you, as always, a few graphics to go? Hm? It’d be a little boring, don’t you think? Yeah, I think so too. And this is why I will now continue with a few homemade graphics from tiny clumsy Vivid. (Let's start with Final Fantasy...) (...and then let's go over to SAO xD) They aren’t really world-changing now, but you know…it’s the thought that counts, right? xD I think, after all this time, you know this motto of mine already inside out. I mean…how long do we know each other now? One year? Oh yeah…good ol’ times. I still remember how I harassed you back then on my very first day, and how I sent you a message, just because I had no idea how the profiles of the forum worked…and how you rebuffed me – ice cold – saying that you were still in school and that you would look after it later that day xD Wonderful time… After that we always talked about anything and everything, sent several messages back and forth and complained about school and daily problems until we then, after a while, had like 600 messages in our inboxes. I mean if this isn’t persistence then I don’t know what is xD And today? Today we still text at regular intervals on Skype and send us, every once in a while, minimalistic snaps on Snapchat…we still complain about school, you tell me how odd German chocolate tastes, I tell you that there aren’t any tacos in Germany. Isn’t this great? Especially considering that I was super afraid to talk to you back then xD Oh yeah, time has passed, hasn’t it? But thank goodness we’re still in contact with each other. Granted, we don’t talk as often as we did back then which sucks, but hey, life is hard, but nonetheless it’s already settled that one day I’ll come to you and visit you so that we can go and eat some tacos at Taco Bell xD And this is really amazing. Thank you that you welcomed me in your super sweet alyssa-ish way back then, thank you that you bore with me the entire time, thank you that I can get worked up over everything with you, thank you that you’re teaching me on how to speak English, thank you that you’re always supporting me and thank you that I can call you my friend. I hope you liked the presents, even if it’s just a tiny weeny bit, and I hope that we’ll keep on being friends for a very very long time. And if I only have a pinch of luck and get rich real quick, then I can visit the USA in just a few years xD

| Thanks for the fan fiction, Secret Santa! ^^ - Spoiler:
Ami stood outside Makoto’s door, a brightly wrapped present in the colour green with pink accents, was held tightly in her arms. She knew she was early; Makoto wasn’t expecting her for another thirty minutes, but she had been so nervous sitting at home, fearing she would be late, she had left early. Gathering her courage, she knocked on the door and waited.
“Ami-chan!” Makoto greeted, surprise colouring her voice. “Come in, I wasn’t expecting you so soon; not all the food is done yet.” The taller girl sounded so apologetic that Ami couldn’t help but smile.
“That’s fine Mako-chan, I’m sorry I’m early.” Nerves getting the best of her, she trust the gift towards her friend. “Merry Christmas,” she said softly.
“You didn’t need to get me anything!” Taking the present from her friend, Makoto lead them to the couch to sit down.
“I know, but I wanted to. Open it.” Ami waited as Makoto painstakingly opened the wrapping paper, not wanting to ruin it. Makoto found herself lost for words as she started at the gift in her lap. There, sitting on her lap was the same rice cooker she had been eyeing for the past few months. It had some pretty cool features from being able to cook meat to making rice porridge but it had been well above her budget and besides, her current rice cooker still worked, why buy something so frivolous.
“Do you not like it?” the blue haired girl asked worriedly after several moments of silence.
“Ami-chan….this is too much,” Makoto said, her throat tightening. And here all she had done was baked Ami her favourite cake as a gift where her friend had gone and gotten her this super expensive rice cooker.
“Makoto, I wanted to do something nice for you. If you’re worried about the price, please don’t be. It’s about the thought and intent of the gift,” Ami said gently, placing her hand on top of Makoto’s reassuringly. She hated seeing her friend upset like this, but didn’t know what else to do.
It’s about the thought and intent of the gift. The words swirled around Makoto’s mind. It didn’t matter if she hadn’t gotten Ami a super expensive gift did it. The fact that she had lovingly worked on a cake for her friend and the thought and effort she had put into it was what mattered.
“You’re right.” Smiling, she placed the rice cooker on the floor beside the couch before standing up. Taking Ami’s hand in hers, she pulled the shorter girl to her feet. “Common, your gift is in the kitchen.”
