| Season 2 just finished up, it's still going on but will be on hiatus for a while. I think the show is pretty fun, I enjoy following it. I hate to start off the topic with a negative opinion, but I do have some problems with the show: - :
the writing leaves mountains and mountains to be desired... even after watching both seasons, we don't really know anything about the villains or the plot in general. The animation is also of poor quality, with near constant small errors such as characters clipping through clothing or scenery. The episode length of Season 1 is very short (varies a lot and average at like 5 minutes), but Season 2 upped it to around 12 minutes. Hopefully the show can keep improving like that.
RWBY was born from intense fight scenes, which makes it odd how the writing almost avoids those entirely. The few times a fight breaks out, the characters are knocked around without so much as a scratch and either easily defeat or easily outlast their opponents.
Roosterteeth have described the show as a "kid's show, technically" which is jarring and holds it back. Characters never receive injuries of any kind, but then it will suddenly change its mind and show a beast being beheaded. This indecisiveness is ultimately pointless, Rooster Teeth should be appealing to their established fanbase, not small children.
The show's slow pace is highlighted when you consider how few things ever get introduced or explored. I remember Isabelle being hyped up a bit in a developer vlog I watched near the very beginning of Season 2. She has one small appearance in this season and I don't think she even speaks. As previously stated, the villain's plan is a mystery, in a bad way. We don't even have a clue what any of the teachers' motivations or intentions are.
But Rooster Teeth intends RWBY to last, and I'm staying tuned hoping it will get better and better. It really is fun to watch, tons of genuinely adorable dialogue exchanges and some good fight scenes as well. The fandom is fairly kind and creates tons of cute art. You can watch the series on Rooster Teeth's official YouTube channel, here's the playlist starting at Episode 1. Also, here's the soundtrack on Spotify. |

| I'll admit, I attempted an episode. However, the way it was all similar to MMD and the voice acting trying to be too much like an anime threw me off of it. I might try again later; considering that it was only episode one. |

| I absolutely love this series!! All the characters are diverse and there's so much development of the girls in the season 2 and the plot is really thickening up and ooohhhhh i love it - Lyricalias wrote:

I'm not really sure what you mean by that. Are you sure you're not watching a different show? O.o Because practically every episode of this series has a fight scene in it. And there not just little fight scenes that tease you and then dissipate these are full blown knock-down, dragged out fight scenes. What I love most about the series is how individual each character is Like, each girl has a different personality and their personalities are reflected in their abilities and fighting styles and oooommmmggggg it's just so good |

| RWBY Volume 2 Soundtrack just released on Spotify! It's pretty good. It's so strange hearing the full version of Die after looping the half-finished one on the composer's Soundcloud account for ages.
The James Landino Beach Bae remix of Time to Say Goodbye is fantastic, love it, love it, love it. |

| *epic thread bump* I started watching this today, almost on a whim after seeing stuff about it on Pinterest and then reading about it on TV Tropes. And I have to say, although the animation is pretty janky and un-smooth, I hear it gets better. I also really like the Alternate History part of it. I never really thought about it because there aren't too many series that aren't just other worlds but are pretty other Earths with different histories and a much more fantastical slant, rather than being like some totally other land (the only one that springs to mind is Fullmetal Alchemist). I have high hopes for it. And it's too bad the creator died. I hope the writers/directors are sticking close to his ideas for the series (I heard he had enough notes to make up to a Volume 5). |

| Yeah, it was the creator. His name was Monty Oum, and he was only 33 when he died very suddenly. There's been a lot of discussion about whether the RWBY team is continuing to follow his plans for the show, but from what I've heard he apparently intended from the beginning that the show would eventually turn away from its lightheartedness and get very dark (as it did in season 3). EDIT: This is from Wikipedia: " Oum suffered a severe allergic reaction during a medical procedure and fell into a coma on January 22, 2015. He died on February 1, 2015." |

| So he was the creator AND art director? Jeez. I remember it was everywhere when he died, this just makes things worse. I may hold off on watching the show until they finalize their decision then. |

| No, I'm pretty sure he wasn't the art director, but he did create it, write it, and direct it up until his very unfortunate passing. I'm not sure what you mean about finalizing their decision--I believe the team did stay true to Monty's vision as best they could in season 3, but some people were shocked by the show taking this drastic turn right after his death. I'd recommend watching the first 2 seasons at least (the ones Monty was involved in) and see where you want to go from there. |

| VAGUE SPOILERS
I personally disagree with it taking a turn, the last episode at least was planned from the very beginning. I was so upset I did research on why they killed that character and the voice actress knew from the start that would happen. So while I'm sure they was some changes I felt it stayed true to the series as a whole. |

| Oh yeah I got caught up on this a few weeks ago. I think Volume 3 is the best season hands down. Especially the last half. This show has always had some mildly dark undertones and bringing those out in full force starting with that one... Single... Shot... In episode 6 (those of you who've seen it, you know what I mean), and get more complex and darker from there. We also got to learn way more about the shows mythos. - Spoiler:
Oh my dear Pyrrha, you will be missed. Not sure when I decided when you were my fave, but both you and Yang Xiao Long found your way there. Also on a side note I actually found Yang losing her arm more devastating than Pyrrha's death because we saw this young, hopeful, energetic young woman become this depressed, apathetic person in only a week or so. On Ruby's supposed Deus Ex Machina... I don't think it was a Deus Ex Machina. The silver eyes thing was foreshadowed at the beginning, and while I think it could have been set up maybe a littttleee bit better, making a bigger deal out of it would be too obvious. Ozpin's comment in the first episode and making Ruby the only silver eyed character (besides her mom, Summer Rose, I think, not sure on that) worked fine. The Fall Maidens story is interesting, and really makes you wonder: Is Dust really "magic"? Or is it something else? Because from the way it was told and presented it seems like magic, Dust, and Aura are distinctly different supernatural power sources in the world of Remnant. Maybe Aura's magic? Who knows. I also link the theory that Ozpin's the wizard in the Four Maidens story. Makes sense, since he was specifically stated by Monty at one point to not fit the color theme rule for a reason, and being the Wizard would mean he'd've been around centuries, at least, before that war. It also explains his comment about the mistakes he's made and Glynda saying he had more experience than the rest of them. Finally, let's talk about the villains. Well, Roman Torchwick certainly went out in a anticlimactic yet hilarious way. Cinder's probably not dead, she's probably off mustering Emerald, Mercury, and Neo from wherever they're hiding. And how bout this Salem chick? She's gonna be... Different, for sure.
Anyway, that's what I think. I'm definitely sticking with RWBY to the end. Also, I heard the guy across the aisle on the bus today singing the Volume 3 opening. |

| I have an interesting theory about Ozpin - Spoiler:
During my recent re-watch, I noticed that it was required/talked about, that the 4 Maidens would come each year to visit the Wizard who gave them the powers.... I'm curious about the hate from Salem. I am wondering about his power, how strong he is, and what his role is. I am starting to suspect he may BE the Wizard, either re-incarnated or something along those lines.

| The trailer has been released! http://roosterteeth.com/episode/rwby-volume-4-volume-4-character-short Here my take on it: - Spoiler:
The animation is definitely different from past seasons--I haven't really developed a clear opinion about it yet since I haven't seen that much of it, but I think it has the potential to be really cool. I really liked the shot of Weiss especially and I thought Ruby looked good overall. I would have liked to see more shots of Weiss, Blake, and Yang to get a better feel for the new style, but I understand why RT didn't do that since it would probably have given too much away (since their storylines are really at a pivotal point right now). Overall, I think the new animation has room for improvement, as always, but I think it has potential. The only thing that bugged me was the Ruby's fighting style seemed a little...off. She didn't seem to be as smooth and balanced using Crescent Rose as she usually is, so her attacks seemed kind of choppy. Also, it seemed a little too easy for her to defeat that massive monster all by herself. Did anyone else notice this? Maybe I'm being too picky.
October 22nd is coming up fast, everyone! I'm so excited to see my girls back in action! |

I actually thing the animation is much improved from what I've seen of it. It seems smoother movement wise while still true to the series look.
And I didn't really thing that it was odd, If you look a the changes in styles and in the actual growth of the characters, like hair length, style, etc, I think it's meant to convey how much they've grown and gotten better the time lapse. She's still Ruby so it wasn't straight OP but I think it is realistic for her to be fighting on that level alone given the situation.

I actually really loved it. Ruby's semblance is her speed, so the improvement makes sense to me. She seems a lot more confident and sure of herself and her abilities.

| I highly recommend it (and I'm sure most others who've posted in this thread would as well)! The episodes are fairly short (around 15 minutes each), so they don't take up too much time to watch, which is always a good thing if you constantly have lots of stuff going on like me. If you liked the first episode, the series gets better from there, so I think you would definitely enjoy it! |
