Yay! Queen Serenity, she is one of my favorite "minor" characters. I am a sucker for Moon Kingdom fanfics that focus on her (in fact there are a couple posted here on the forum)!

I've always adored the past part of Sailor Moon. The Moon Kingdom seems romantic and I always liked how regal and beautiful Serenity looked.

I remember that I once role-played a reincarnation of Queen Serenity. I don't remember too much, but I think I made her a teacher or something.

The RPG was named Sailor Memories. It accepted anyone and everyone, so there were a ton of non-Sailor Moon characters. I also role-played my Sailor Moon/DBZ crossover characters and a baby tiger named Baby that was the height of a 4-story tall building... This happened many, many years ago. (I also role-played Sailor Jupiter, Luna, Phobos and Deimos). I don't think the RPG really had a plot, but I could be wrong. It sure as hell seemed random to me, but I think it had something to do with the first season of Sailor Moon.

Unfortunately, no, I didn't draw that. ^^' There was a coloring of a blown up image on this tumblr that I tagged ((u_u my apologies to the original colorer - I did that in a time before I actually tried manga coloring and found out how hard it was, otherwise I would've plastered their name on it as well. ;-)

I love Queen Serenity. She was an amazing minor character, and her appearances were very short lived. I love the mystery surrounding her as well.

I wish other's could tell the difference between her, Princess Serenity, and Neo-Queen Serenity though. ^^' There are a lot of times you look her up, and get everything in the mix.

I know right! it's hard to find pictures of her because either Usagi's past or future life pops up. I love the picture by the way! I love seeing sailor moon manga colorings. They're so beautiful!

I love the fact that she's incredibly maternal even though she is just a character. Queen Serenity radiates this protective maternal aura. She's also elegant, beautiful, wise and brave. A leader. The perfect woman.

She actually reminds me of my mum in some ways. I think it's the mum thing. How her daughter means everything to her. That's like my own mother.

I think in the Silver Millennium times it fited Queen Serenity more than the princess, the princess was more of a little child who wanted to be with Endymion, at least as far as I know.

Though yeah, Usagi is like that as she grows along the series, and especially as Neo Queen Serenity.

I agree the quote doesn't really fit Princesses Serenity. She was more interested in Endymion, but if the Moon Kingdom wasn't attack I'm sure she would mature and be like her mother.

Queen Serenity is one of my top favorite characters.  I once cosplayed a unique version of her, only seen in episode 35 of the original anime.  In episode 35 when Artemis is explaining the fate of Silver Millenium, you see Serenity in a few scenes, always partially in shadow.  But, looking close you can see that she looks different than her final version seen later in the series when they go to the moon.  She has blonde hair like Usagi, but in double pigtails on either side.  Her chest bow is also a teal color rather than white.  I just wish I could sew better so that the dress would have turned out better.

Some day I may give another go at this, when I can get help with the dress and can afford to get a proper wig and matching extensions for the pigtails.  The second link makes it pretty obvious that I used two different hair types to make the wig out of.

Oooh wow! I remember that version of her too! Sewing isn't easy so I hope you get the chance to try to improve your cosplay. It looks very nice though! I think just some modifications would help (and of course like you mentioned, getting a better wig. A good wig always makes a difference xD). I do still think the dress is really lovely!

The double pigtails was an interesting design idea. I wonder why they didn't go with it in the end?

I actually wonder if they just made it like that to help differentiate her from her daughter. It kind of looks like it could just be split. I always wonder why little things like this are added in.

The tumblr post states a question:
"...This could very likely be one of Toei's countless animation errors, but what if this is a younger version of Queen Serenity?"
And THAT seems like a fantastic idea! We have no idea how long the lunarian lifespan is-though if it's anything like the lifespan we can see in Crystal Tokyo of the 30th century-when another queen (Neo Queen Serenity) is using the silver crystal to maintain piece-I wonder if this means she was not only younger-but a LOT younger? How many years after this appearance/form would the destruction of the kingdom have taken place?
