aaaand all the way downColumns/Groups/Family 1: Aklali Metals super soft, very reactive, will oxidize rapidly in air
Group/Family 2: Alkaline Earth MetalsGroup/Family 3, 4, 5, 6: eh. named for first element in that group. Example: Boron Group, Carbon Group, Nitrogen Group, Oxygen GroupGroup/Family 7: HalogensGroup/Family 8: Noble Gaseslemme give you the rundownGroups: Aklali Metals and Halogens are
super reactive. Get one near another and
bam, a reaction occurs. They "get around" a lot and it usually ends in fireworks. Noble Gases are stuck up - they don't react. Period. With anybody. They're complete with just themselves. The Alkaline Earth Metals and the Oxygen group react together just fine; the middle three - Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen Groups - tend not to react with anyone (but themselves; Nitrogen and Oxygen don't exist as solitary particles in nature - they immediately bond with another of their kind; so O doesn't exist in nature, just O
2, etc.
My ideas for the Periodic Senshi and powers: the elements I've chosen below are chosen not exactly randomly? But I have kinda gone for ones that aren't mentioned all that much, and have stayed away from stuff like Beryllium for obvious reasons.Group One: Number 19. PotassiumPotassium is extremely reactive; like other alkali metals, it is eager to give away it's outermost electron to become more stable. It is more reactive than Sodium, and is less dense. It oxidizes rapidly in air and reacts vigorously in water, generating sufficient heat to ignite the hydrogen emitted in the reaction and burns with a lilac flame.
Sailor Potassium Senshi of the Lilac FlamePotassium, like her Alkali sisters, is soft around the edges (she gets hurt easily), but she is nonetheless still very giving. She responds best to those who take an appreciate what she has to give, and, together, the pair can create awe-inspiring things.Personality Traits:
Clever (less dense than Sodium, anyway), Giving, Encouraging, Enthusiastic, Self-Pitying, ClingyPower Examples:
Lilac Explosion! She reacts with water particles in the air to spark and explode in lilac hues
Lilac Barrier! She reacts with the air to form a crust-like dome around the party; if Sailor Oxygen is near, this dome can grow in size and strength and withstand more damage.
Group 2: Number 12. MagnesiumMagnesium is a shiny gray solid that looks a lot like other alkaline earth metals. It is the ninth most abundant element in the universe, and the forth most common element on Earth. It's synthesized in aging stars. It's highly reactive. It burns a brilliant white light (and so is used in flares). It is also essential to all cellular life - it is needed for ATP, DNA, and RNA to function, and is the metallic ion at the center of chlorophyll. The only way to put out a magnesium fire is with sand.
Sailor MagnesiumSenshi of Metallic LightMagnesium is the tallest of all of her alkaline earth sisters and has a very famous father - one could say he's a star. Following in his footsteps, she's rather popular, having started an online youtube channel that went viral. She's a little sensitive at times, and so has grown an outer shell to better control herself around others.Personality Traits: Dynamic, Ambitious, Adaptable, Original, Superficial, Oversensitive
Power Examples:
Shining Burst! A high energy burst of light blinds and damages opponents
Life Energy Reaction! She reacts with the world around her to energize her allies or make plantlife grow however she wishes.
Group 3: Number 31. GalliumGallium is a soft, silvery metal, and is a brittle solid at low temperatures - it melts at 86°F; the melting point of Gallium is used as a temperature reference point. It is primarily used in electronics. Semiconductive gallium combinations produce blue and violet LED's and lasers.
Sailor GalliumSenshi of Twinkling MetalGallium isn't the strongest. Or the most hearty. Or most easy-to-deal with -- she's a little... delicate? Shall we say? She whines, she complains, she shuts down and gets depressed easily, but she is one of the most intelligent people around. She's an electronics whiz.Personality Traits: Clever, Analytical, Inventive, Original, Melodramatic, Oversensitive.
Power Examples:
Pin Point Precision! A blue laser line burns a hole through the energy
Overwhelming Meltdown! When Gallium is feeling overwhelmed (...which might be often), she can send off waves that make the enemy feel as sluggish and depressed as she feels.
Group 4: Number 6. CarbonCarbon is the fourth most abundant element in the universe by mass after H, He, and O. It is the second most abundant element in the human body after oxygen. It is the basis of all known life based on its unique organic compounds and polymer-forming ability at Earth's most commonly encountered temperatures. There are several allotropes of carbon, best known being graphite and diamond. Carbon forms a vast number of compounds, more than any other element.
Sailor CarbonSenshi of Sparkling CreationCarbon is versatile. She is confident, creative, and knows who she is and what she wants. She loves to draw and is very easygoing, but if anyone bothers her or her people, "defensive" may be the best word you could reach for.Personality Traits: Confident, Resourceful, Inventive, Adaptable, Impatient, Pretentious
Power Examples:
Impregnable Defenses! A Diamond Shell forms before her, stopping any attack in it's place. Can only be used to protect someone.
Creative Burst! Anything she draws with her graphite fingernails will come to life.
Group 5: Element 15. PhosphorousPhosphorous exists in two major forms - white and red. When white, it is highly reactive and emits a faint glow upon exposure to oxygen. Red phosphorous is found in match tips and is much more stable.
<-->
Sailor PhosphorousSenshi of Explosive AggressionPhosphorous is not one to stand by when things she doesn't like happen. She reacts. Quick-tempered and argumentative, she typically gets her way, and if she doesn't, she holds a grudge. But if you manage to make it past her rough exterior, she is loyal to a fault.Personality Traits: Responsible, Dynamic, Persistent, Loyal, Short Tempered, Inflexible
Power Examples:
Startling Ignition! Fire starts and spreads under her direction. If Sailor Oxygen is near, this attack becomes much more powerful.
Glowing Transformation! She transforms, the red and white parts of her outfit swapping places, and starts to glow in an impassioned light. She is much more powerful in this form, but turns uncaring and vindictive - she will follow her original goals, but once they are finished, if she doesn't turn back she can be easily manipulated into fighting another target.
Group 5: Element 8. OxygenOxygen is a highly reactive nonmetal and an
oxidizing agent that readily forms compounds with most elements.
Changes in phosphate are related to changes in oxygen concentrations. By mass, it is the most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen and helium, and as a gas, it is colorless, odorless and tasteless, and is stable when in the diatomic state.
Sailor OxygenSenshi of CollaborationOxygen is a people person. She's a diplomat, solving disputes between parties by knowing and understanding both points of view. She gets along with pretty much everyone, and doesn't take offense easily if it isn't meant. She is loyal and reliable, and most people become protective of her for her cheery disposition and her ease of understanding.Personality Traits: Patient, Accepting, Compassionate, Optimistic, Needs people around to feel physically whole, jealous and negative when alone
Power Examples:
*By being near certain elemental senshi (namely Phosphorous and Potassium) Sailor Oxygen subconsciously boosts their power levels.
Deafening Gust! Sailor Oxygen releases a burst of powerful air that can push enemies backwards and away; during the attack, lights similar to the aurora borealis are also created.
Diatomic Cloning! Oxygen is able to make a complete double of herself that works in tandem with her to attack and support; when she has her double and they hold hands, they can fly. (otherwise the wings are just decorative)
Group 6: Element 9. FluorineFluorine is the lightest halogen and exists as a highly toxic pale yellow diatomic gas at standard conditions. As the most electronegative element, it is
extremely reactive: almost all other elements, including some noble gases, form compounds with fluorine. The primary mineral source of fluorine is fluorite, and is added to metals ores to lower melting points for smelting, which gives fluorite it's root word (flow). Fluorine proved difficult and dangerous to separate from its compounds, and several early experimenters died or sustained injuries from their attempts.
Sailor FluorineSenshi of DesireFluorine can't help what she is. She's insanely attractive to any orientation - to look at her is to want her, and nothing she does changes that. She has a magnetism about her that makes her irresistible... and a lack of true confidence to say "no", and try to be happy by herself. She is constantly in and out of relationships - there is a happy period for a time, but eventually it ends explosively, harming both parties - for her, it is a blast to her confidence: if she can't keep someone happy in a relationship and getting into relationships, what was her purpose in life? For them: they had her and lost her, and can't get her back, and she outwardly doesn't seem to care; to deal with the pain, she moves on to another significant other. The cycle continues, earning her a reputation that is anything but glamorous, while at the same time being coveted by the very people who badmouth her. She is consistently lonely, but puts on a brave, beautiful face at all times to hide how she really feels.Personality Traits: Encouraging, Caring, Devoted, Magnetic, Jealous, False-Confident
Power Examples:
Ill-fated Attraction: She is able to charm any conscious enemy into falling for her; however, she has to force herself to fall for them, first. Their demise hurts her (but she often doesn't let it show).
Poisonous Fury: She is able to emit a stream of extremely toxic gas from her hands that can choke and kill and enemy; however, this can also harm her allies.
Group 10: Element 54. XenonXenon is a colorless, dense, odorless noble gas that occurs in Earth's atmosphere in trace amounts. Although generally nonreactive, xenon can undergo a few chemical reactions and form a compound with fluorine (the first noble gas compound to ever be synthesized). Xenon naturally occurs with 8 stable isotopes, and has over 40 unstable isotopes that undergo radioactive decay; xenon is an important tool for studying the early solar system. Radioactive xenon acts as the most significant neutron absorber in nuclear reactors. It is used in flash lamps, arc lamps, and as a general anesthetic. It is being used to search for hypothetical weakly interacting massive particles and as the propellant for ion thrusters in spacecraft.
Sailor XenonNoble Senshi of AdvancementXenon, having been raised in a Noble family, sees herself as above the rest. She doesn't need
anybody, she doesn't have to fit in - she's inherently better than all the rest. She honestly would prefer to be completely apart from the rest of them - standing alone. She doesn't need them. ... well, maybe Fluorine
; while she doesn't need Fluorine, she is definitely pretty, and if she had to be with anyone, Fluorine would be better than most other arm candy. While Xenon is typical for a Noble, she can be a bit on the geeky side and gets enthused by scientific breakthroughs...Personality Traits: Conceited, Self-Indulging, Independent, Original, Standoffish, Intelligent
Power Examples:
Radioactive Burst! A blast of particles hits the enemy with high energy, doing damage over time.
Neutron Absorption! Xenon can absorb an oncoming attack. ... if she wanted to.
Ion Thruster! Xenon can propel herself forward at incredibly high speeds; this is most effective as an attack if she has a weapon.
Anesthetic Wind: She can summon small amounts of gas that can numb her target to pain or put them to sleep.
