Alright so, I know the manga is a seperate thing but in it it says that Usagi "ascends the throne" or whatever and gives birth to Chibiusa at 22 years old, and then stops aging...

Okay, okay, but..if she's 16 at the end of StarS, that means that exactly 6 years later she becomes queen?? But how does she go from being a school girl in 1990s (I guess it would be 2000s then) Tokyo, to queen, and then just magically stops aging? How can Tokyo go from normal city with normal residents to a place ruled by a queen just lie that? I'm so confused!! What about her family, does she just up and disappear and don't they wonder why she stops aging?

I might be totally wrong but I just don't get the whole Crystal Tokyo timeline thing. Someone explain? o_O

In the manga, this disaster is not mentioned. Instead, it does state that she ascends to her form as Neo Queen Serenity at age 22 and establishes Crystal Tokyo.

This implies that her powers continuing maturing as she grows older, and the Silver Crystal's power slowly changes the world from modern-day Tokyo to Crystal Tokyo. As this happens, Usagi becomes Neo Queen Serenity and starts ruling Tokyo as a monarchy instead of their current system of government. Her family is not mentioned, so we don't know if they understand that Usagi is someone magic and then are subject to natural aging themselves or if they have longer lifespans like other Crystal Tokyo subjects and simply chose not to live in the Crystal Palace.

The exact timeline for Crystal Tokyo is left incredibly vague in the manga.

But then..isn't Crystal Tokyo, where Chibiusa came from set in the 3000s? o_O Now I'm confused again.

When the Black Moon Clan attacks, it is the 30th century. (January 1, 2901 to December 31, 3000 of the Gregorian calendar.) That is when Chibi Usa travels to the past.

However, in the manga, Chibi Usa is over 900 years old--the same age as the age of the Crystal Tokyo era.

I know it's just a manga but that's just so...odd. Like I couldn't imagine how that would actually affect a person. >.<

It doesn't really bother me--I've accepted it as it is, based on the limited knowledge that we have.

In my mind (much of it is just my own thoughts, not something I can support with evidence), it works a bit like this:

Usagi defeats Galaxia and returns home to Tokyo. Later, Usagi and Mamoru marry. I feel that Usagi's comment in the manga during her marriage ceremony about a new star being born inside of her implies that she is pregnant with her daughter at the time of the wedding. Since she and Small Lady share a birth date, for her to be 22 when Small Lady is born would mean she's 21 for the depicted wedding which occurs approximately 9 months-ish before Usagi's June 30th birth date.

During the years that pass in between defeating Galaxia and Usagi and Mamoru's marriage, the power of the Silver Crystal increases to a point where it begins to impact the world around Usagi even when she is not transformed as Sailor Moon and actively accessing its power. Japanese citizens start living longer and experiencing other health-related positive effects. Technology advances rapidly. At some point there is a need to explain these changes, and it is revealed that Tsukino Usagi is actually the famed heroine Sailor Moon.

Now, why do the people of Tokyo and/or the world decide to let a single girl rule them instead of elective power? That's a good question, but kind of relies on the whole "suspension of disbelief" to fully swallow. Maybe the corruption of public officials or inefficiency of the current government system have jaded the people enough to accept a superhero as their monarch. Maybe there's still some type of parliamentary system underlying her utopia. Perhaps the Imperial family bloodlines die out enough for the figurative head of Japan to shift from the Emperor to a new Queen.

I think it is a stretch to assume that Neo Queen Serenity would take control. Usagi always wants to be helpful and save people, so I like to imagine that she is given this position as queen. Somehow or another, the people want her to be their monarch and she graciously accepts. Then she gives birth to Small Lady, now Princess of Crystal Tokyo.

Small Lady does not age physically or mentally due to her own insecurities, but continues to be a small child even beyond the slow aging of the now extended-lifespan populace. By the time the Black Moon Clan attacks, Crystal Tokyo has been Crystal Tokyo-ing for about 900 years and is well-established.

That's my take on it.

If you'd like that kind of happy ending, then the live action series is the version for you FYI. :3

And to add to the discussion, I'm pretty inline with Aurae's thinking. I'd also like to think that even if the manga doesn't state so, that there is some sort of cataclysmic event (like in the 90s anime) where Usagi saves the world in a way that opens the eyes of the people to her identity. There is also a possibility that she never truly revealed herself as Usagi Tsukino and everyone just assumed Sailor Moon became Neo Queen Serenity.

I would imagine as far as her family goes, she probably had a chance to sit down and talk everything over with them. I would think this talk happens right before or after the wedding. I think Usagi would be courteous enough to give her parents some room before the public outing of her identity. Unless, whatever happens that allows her to become is one of those things where she didn't get the chance to tell anyone cause it just all happens really quickly.

Another theory could be that whback and in turn, accept the Queen and King as their true rulers (especially since Mamoru is the Prince of the Earth).en she and Endymion are crowned, those that were reborn from the time of the Silver Millenium get some form of their memories

So, I just watched ep 200 because I've never seen Stars, and I'm just wondering how exactly did it hint that something happened to Tokyo that required Sailor Moon to create Crystal Tokyo?

That wasn't covered in episode 200. It was covered in the R season when they went to the future. I don't recall the exact episode though. ><

Oh silly me! I'm currently watching the dub as it comes out so I guess I'll find out soon

Although, don't you guys think that NQS may not have needed to banish or defeat any evil, if we go by manga logic, since all of chaos was defeated in chapter 54 or so.

Chaos was returned to the cauldron, not eliminated. Guardian Cosmos warns Sailor Moon that Chaos may return, because all things are possible in the cauldron. I think that allows for the chance that Neo Queen Serenity will need to banish/defeat some kind of evil at some future date.

I actually had never thought about this until I started reading this topic, but I absolutely love what everyone here is saying. Not sure which way it would go, but the possibilities are pretty awesome. I would love to read or write a fanfic about this! Haha

You should! I kind of wish we could see that animated, but at the same time I kind of prefer to think she just got to live out a normal life or something, poor girl T__T

Due to SM's ambiguity towards the end of the series it has sooo much room for fan theories and other fanworks. Gotta get answers somewhere xD
