| Thank you to everyone who sent in their entries! It is now time to vote: Read the lovely entries below and vote for your favourite! Winners will be announced on the 1st of October! Names will be revealed when the winner is announced. - Entry 1:
Your POV: Fans had apparently caught him cheating and wanted to make it known that he was a player of sorts. He really wasn’t but, the idea was that he was someone that wasn’t true to a relationship and the person he was with. Which is why you were sitting at a café waiting for him to arrive. Time passes and soon enough he arrives, with the girl he has been seeing behind your back. Oh hello jin ah, didn’t know you were going to be here. (myungsoo) yes you did myungsoo-oppa, I texted you this morning asking to meet here when you got a break, but seems you didn’t read it. That’s ok I really don’t care anymore. [you] umm who are you and how do you know my myung-oppa? [girl] I’m jin ah, his ex girl friend as of today. Don’t worry I won’t try and take him back from you. I just wanted to let him know we are no longer dating is all. [you] you to dated?! When? [girl] we did up until today, for the last 2 months I think it was. I found out he was with you from his fans, they really like you, their glad he is with you, they think your pretty and will be a good match for him. I hope you treat him well, he’s a very soft person you know, shy too. Don’t let him hide behind that ice like personality ok? [you] uh ok thanks I guess. [girl] your welcome. Good luck and good bye myungsoo, be good to her or I’ll come back and hunt you. Well I need to go, I don’t have much time left. Again good bye. [you]
Readers POV: Not moments after you had walked out of the café did a news report break into the current program. -news report: it’s just been found out that the former girlfriend of idol kim myungsoo [infinite]lee jin ah has passed away from a brain tumor. She had been getting treatment for several years but, only just recently did it become unable to be operated on. It’s said she told no one and suffered alone, no one knows why she did either. –news report continues-
What the… jin ah was just here! [myungsoo] it says she passed away at 4am today, when was the text she says she sent you? [girl] ….. 2 months ago today at 4am. [myungsoo] just then a text appeared on myungsoo’s screen from jin ah.
-text message: if your reading this then I have passed. Sorry I didn’t tell you oppa, I didn’t want you to worry, but I knew I had to let you go as soon as I knew I wouldn’t be here much longer. I’m happy you have moved on, it helps my heart to know that you have someone with you other then the members. Yes it’s true I passed today. Was it my ghost you saw and spoke to? Most likely. But we will never find out will we? Good luck oppa stay safe always. I love you. Yours jin ah-
To say both myungsoo and his girl friend were freaked out saw something. Yes they were scared but they were also sad. They had just seen lee jin ah for the last time and she’d given their relationship her blessing of sorts.
- Entry 2:
The world cracked and crumbled around her, a booming thunder in the stifling silence. Desperately she searched the sky, putting all of her attention on finding them again; her mistake had cost her, and now her failing heart beat ever faster. She was too weak to move, to reach out, to cry out her pain, but she could still search. She pressed back her panic and honed her focus by humming to herself, her voice nothing but an airy squeak at first, but growing with every hasty swallow – they were gone. She couldn’t find them. She pressed harder, forcing the slow tango melody through her nose until she could hear it in her ears, a hollow mockery of the dances they had hosted, the true memory haunting her relentlessly. She put more and more energy into it, forcing the song into her head, to work past the frantic worries of her heart as her eyes danced from star to star, looking for their particular shine. She forced back regrets, shielded herself against thoughts of their ruined future, built defenses out of her faulty reasoning, refusing to examine it – but she couldn’t find her. Her humming turned into a whine as a sob seized her chest; she swallowed it back and forced the song to continue. She was stronger than this. She knew the magic would work the way she wanted, she believed in it. It wouldn’t fail her now, not on something this important. The whine returned, her doubt breaking through defenses to control her; her bruised chest shook with sobs that she could not hold back. She had lost her. She fought to breathe around her spasming lungs, her hands weakly gripping the rubble beneath her for support, tears further ruining her attempt at finding them again. Were they too far? Had they already been taken? Had she missed it? She blinked as quickly as she could, fighting the urge to give in and sleep. She had to find her; she had to make sure she was okay. But she couldn’t even do that, could she? She could only give them a chance; she could not guarantee fate would smile upon it. She couldn’t assure her daughter’s happiness. She couldn’t ensure finding love, or marrying, or having children; she couldn’t even guarantee their safety when they arrived in their new lives, let alone happiness or fulfillment. She could barely breathe from panic accompanying the realization – what had she sent them to?! A surge of power and energy welled up behind her, and she knew the end was coming. She took a ragged breath, and suddenly found them, just beyond the full moon, the sparkling trail of star-seeds shining in their wake. A calming wave washed over her; her daughter, her guardians, the citizens of Earth… she could not guarantee their futures, but she could give them a chance. She could not foresee what the destruction of the inner planets would bring, or if their guardians would survive the ordeal, but she could give them a chance to survive on their new home, on an Earth-like planet in a younger star system.
Their glow was lost in the sun’s reflection as the expansion closed in. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly with a prayer as planet Earth was destroyed, crumbled and absorbed along with the Moon into the Sun as it became a Red Giant and consumed the inner solar system.
- Entry 3:
It seemed most days he couldn’t stop his feet. On his time off, he would walk around town aimlessly, just trying to kill the minutes until he could go on duty again and find something useful to fill his mind with. But somehow, his feet always wound him to that damned shrine.
The first time sent such pain through his heart he thought he would pass out. Every minute since he’d come back was nothing but mind numbing except when he was on duty and his mind was occupied completely. But he couldn’t work all the time. Oh, he had tried, but the others had picked up on it and now made sure that the young blonde had more than enough time off to be miserable in.
Damn it all, he found himself on the stairs again. Last week he had seen the raven haired goddess that chained his heart. He deserved every bit of pain she unknowingly caused. He didn’t deserve to be in her presence. He was a hungry ghost trapped in a place he should not be, like a restless spirit, wanting what he could never have.
Last week she had thrown a fireball at him when no one was looking. He had let her spot him a few times since, hoping for a hint of something other than anger. Maybe he was stupid after all. The others avoided the senshi like a plague. “Let it go Jadeite” was Kunzite’s usual terse reply.
Let it go. Everyone said it. He longed to be detached from all of the regrets, even the ones he still held toward Endymion. Jadeite could not even meet the man’s eyes. He was damaged goods, probably kept on by sheer pity.
Damn it all, he could not even cry properly. Not since…. “I’m done.” He said between clenched teeth. If he couldn’t let her go, he would let everything go. Perhaps in oblivion he would find peace. But before that, he had to say goodbye one last time.
He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her aside. Before she could protest, he said, “I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I don’t deserve you. Good bye Rei Hino.” He savored the sound of her name as he met her eyes for a second. He released her and turned on his heels, walking away as briskly as he had come.
He found himself on the bridge at the outside of town scaling the railing. It would be a relief to the others. They would not have to be worried about him all the time. “I finally let it go Kunzite…all of it.” He said with a sarcastic laugh as he began to fall forward.
Arms wrapped around his torso. Raven windblown hair filled his vision. He could feel her pulling him. She was shaking. He turned his head, gazing upon her with confusion. “Mars….why?”
There were tears in her eyes. It made them sparkle. “Because….it was me who had to let go.”
- Entry 4:
It's been exactly one year since Mamoru proposed to me and exactly one year since he died.
One year ago, everyone was dead. Now, everyone's safe and they won't die and I won't be left alone at the end of the world with nothing but-
Calm down, Usagi. He's just getting on a plane for America.
We're at the exact same airport that we were at a year ago. He's going to get on the exact same plane that he was supposed to get on a year ago, and send me letters and postcards and not be dead...
"Are you alright, Usagi?" he asks, pulling me out of my thoughts as he passes me a donut.
"You're not going to die, are you?" I blurt out, and I wanted to tell him to not leave for America and just stay in Japan with me, but that's selfish of me...
"...I'm not going to die. I promise that I won't die, okay?" he answers, as he takes my hand.
Everyone promises that they won't die, but...
Everyone's trying their best not to die, Usagi. No one is going to pop up out of nowhere and murder all of your friends again.
I want to stay like this forever, but the intercom announces that all flights to America are leaving in five minutes, so I release his hand and watch him leave for medical school.
- Entry 5:
We only had a week of peace until Chaos attacked again, stronger than ever before, and not just Tokyo. He attacked the entire world and covered it in darkness, killing almost everyone. My Silver Crystal expanded and covered the entire city, protecting everyone and making them fall into a deep sleep.
Earlier this morning, we woke up after eight months. The monsters ignored the still-sleeping people of Tokyo and headed straight for us. They were surrounding us from all sides, we ran into a building, up to the roof which would be easier to defend. My friends transformed, gathering their strength to fight the monsters. I looked over at Endymion. I knew that neither of us could transform.
Suddenly, the door was blown off the hinges, and a gust of wind came from the doorway, knocking me off balance and pushing me over the edge. I caught the edge, hanging by only my fingertips. I couldn’t pull myself up, maybe if I wasn’t in my current condition I could easily climb up, but at eight months pregnant, it was hard enough to hold on.
I could hear my friends fighting and shouting at me, telling me to hold on and not let go. But another voice was talking to me too, it was barely a whisper, the voice of Chaos. Let go Serenity, there is no hope, Chaos cannot be defeated, you cannot fight. Let go. I saw all my enemies, and how they had almost won, how I barely defeated them. I saw my friends, dying on the rooftop. And I let go.
As I fell, I no longer saw images of despair. I saw my friends, laughing and smiling. I saw Endymion and Small Lady reading books and drinking hot cocoa. I saw all of us, together, after I fought Chaos. And I grew wings.
As I flew, I let go of the past. Beryl. Metalia. Death Phantom. Mistress 9. Pharaoh 90. Nehelenia. Galaxia. Chaos. I let go of it all. But I would not let go of my friends and my future. I had a husband and a child. I had a kingdom. If I died, everyone would die.
My wings were strong and they carried me high up above the fighting. I summoned the Silver Crystal and willed it to shine. Its warm light washed over the battle, destroying all the monsters and healing my friends.
Still in the air, I looked down Tokyo, seeing everyone begin to wake up. The world had changed, Tokyo was all that was left. They’d need someone to help them, in this new world where Chaos was waging an open war on us. They’d need Neo-Queen Serenity. I haven’t just let go of my old enemies, I let go of my past life, because the only person I could be is the Queen of Crystal Tokyo.

How this works: The Writing contest will be running once every four months. On a month that it is running, on the 1st I will post a thread that has the rules and a theme. All entries are due by the 22nd of that month. Voting will begin on the 23rd and will last until the end of the month with winners being announced on the first of the next month. Want more of a challenge? The Writing & Roleplaying Guild hosts a variety of challenges every month. Including writing contests in between this one with a larger maximum word count(1,500!). The Rules Entries must be 500 words or less. Entries must be rated PG-13 or lower. Entries must be related to the theme, but they can be interpreted however you like. This means the themes are pretty wide and have lots of room for interpretation! Entries must be newly created for this contest. Sailor Moon Entries are encouraged but not required Entries must be kept secret so this means DO NOT show anyone your work or post it online until after the contest is over! This Months Theme: Themes can be interpreted however you like. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. All entries are due by the 22nd. Please PM all entries to Addelyn do not post them below.

It's really meant to be more accessible for a lot of people. These are short, short stories, more drabbles really, meant to explore a short topic. As always, the writing guild contest will keep its 1,500 word limit, but the general site one will be smaller. It's meant to be a challenge for those who are good at writing and be more accessible for those who want to try something new as the old limit of 1,000 words can be a bit scary. However, I am open to readjusting the word limit in future contests for the main site. |
